+Tommy Wiseau RU-vidrs are actually now required to tell you if it's a sponsored video, if they don't tell you in the video they can lose their channel and get into a lot of trouble. Happened sometime last year, pretty sure it's a law.
+Tommy Wiseau I think that is in the ToS of RU-vid that any sponsored video must be said in video and in the description, otherwise you risk receiving a strike. Don't quote me on that, but I think this changed few months ago, when the sponsored videos fiasco started.
I never did understand the stigma towards a Good, Sponsored video. Do you people not realize that this is a JOB for him? Just because someone gets incentive doesn't mean they're a sellout.
+JKH Piano The major problem is that instead of making an actual theory for a game we know and love, he INSTEAD makes a video for a game that isn't even out yet and forces a theory into existence because that's what Ubisoft told him to do. Makes for boring content with no love put into it. I much prefer product placement (like good old Audible) rather than a giant ad replacing the actual video.
+YipYapYoup Mat pat can also say no and does. The videos that are sponsored are theorist approved. Besides I watched all the videos in a playlist and there were several sponsored videos there that I had no idea were sponsored and noticed no difference so yes its a stigma in my eyes. Besides If I wanted to avoid sponsored videos i just wouldnt click them. but thats none of my business.
+YipYapYoup exactly. the reason he made this video was not because there was an original idea. it's a manufactured "theory" in order to stir up fake "controversy". it's disingenuous and just plain stupid.
Stop acting like we need to be empathetic toward anyone making money. the fact is, he has the option and creative control to decide how he advertises. Have you seen others complain about him advertising? no, because it was noninvasive and was in good taste. this time, is disingenuous and it makes him more part of the industry and less part of the average gamer.
+YipYapYoup Lets be real, even if Matt said no to being paid, he would have done it regardless. He made the last Ubisoft universe video and it was not sponsored.
Given the sort of stuff they had back in the earlier Assassin's Creed days, I would have said that it was entirely though-out and 100% intentional. Now, meh. Probably couldn't even plan what to make for dinner.
Malicron - hahaHAHAHhaha I can just imagine a random Ubisoft worker having a random disconnected computer tucked under his arm that still displays this video and he's just scrambling to work. HahaHAHahaha ha
better get to the hospital then cancer is no laughing matter if untreated cancer can grow and be something life changing or life ending. if you feel like you're alone in this situation, you're not theres help you don't have to be upset there's a lot of people out there in the world that can help you go through this ordeal, it can be scary but I'm sure you'll get through. im sure you not just joking, you'd be a real shitty person if you joked about something as bad as cancer 😃!
+anyideaformypseudo01 yeah It's pretty annoying when other channel act like they came up with the video themself and act like they are really impressed by the game when they just want the sponsored money.
+chewchewtrain I know, but he explains it like the protagonist of Primal traveled from Africa to Nepal... But it's not true because he went the other path and ended in a region which is today part of Slovakia.
Yeah ajay ghal, the guy from far cry 3 and a bunch of guys from assassins creed go back in time with a time machine that aiden pearce steals from abstergo.
+Jai Giovanni *SPOILER ALERT* I saw a theory that said that her and Ned were together the whole time, messing with Henry and I just thought it would be a good idea to get a theory from the best theorist of RU-vid.btw plz like the comment so that he hopefully sees it :)
+Thiseas Velissaridis i don't like that theory my theory is that Julia was there messing with henry and Delilah with ned and one day Julia snapped Ben's (was his name ben) rope while he was climbing and forced ned to keep quiet and lie it sounds stupid but the pieces are there
Am I the only one who thinks sponsored videos are very good? I mean he has to eat and have a place to sleep to. And to have a huge company like Ubisoft sponsor you is awesome.
True Leeli ville, open-minded people should see that a channel like The Game Theorists, where every video must take hours to make, that they should get payed for it.
+Samrux To a degree yes. However it depends on how successful that "guy" was- and how successful his ancestors was. It can limit the ancestor from millions to only a hundred or so. However not everyone came from that specific group of humans who migrated over nepal and to the Americas. You got the people who went south asia, oceania, America (over the pacific), Africa, and Europe who would not be related at all.
Great theory MatPat, except for one small detail. The game's official setting is in CENTRAL EUROPE, 10,000 BCE. Sorry to crush your dreams, but try explaining a migration from Africa to Central Europe to Nepal to North America. Sounds like we're following Indiana Jones not ancient man.
+Danny Allin I have a Well they don't theoretically have to migrate from Nepal to North America. One of Takkar's children could have traveled to America on a fishing trip. Now I know what your thinking But native populations migrated across the bearing land bridge. BUT there actually are some theories out there that Native Americans actually arrived both across the land bridge and may have come across the Atlantic to America! But not intentionally, lots of paleontologists think that Ancient humans may have gotten lost on deep sea fishing expeditions and accidentally arrived in America. I know it sounds crazy Trust me look it up! As for Takkar's descendants migrating from Europe to Nepal that doesn't make much sense so I will give you that one.
+Danny Allin Your point is valid, but there is also the key of TIME. Another even easier to use key would be the fact that the player gains the ability through the blood. Is it really hard to believe that others somewhere else might have gotten the same ability or even similar ones?
Or Ubisoft was too lazy to create new mechanics and visuals so they just reuse most of the things from Far Cry 4...but this is just a theory. A GAME THEORY.
+NOICKNOICK Are you...are you making a joke or are you bloody serious? Because if you're making a joke, I see what you did there. (Actually made me laugh a bit)
+xander trejo I don't think MatPat really cares if his theories are true or not. Many of them are just silliness for the sake of silliness. I think FNAF is about the only one he seemed to truly care about.
U mised a thing. The game takes place in Central Europe near the carpats probably in romania or hungaria si the himalaya theory falls. The folowers of takkar may go to himalaya but i need to subliniate that wrong point.
The Assassin's Creed 3 dlc was a "fever dream" though. A what if shown by the apple. Nothing that happens in the gameplay part of the dlc is history. Yeah maybe drinking the tea of a red willow could give Connor those abilities but we never see a red willow in the game and the Apple's purpose is to mess with the minds of humans.
Well, it does matter where the money comes from. you can get paid but who pays you is very important. Do you want politicians paying media companies for their hard work? No.
growtopia the pet training you dont even need to do anything for the pets to do what you say and rabbids maybe people domesticated rabbids to much and became smart so there used to them just as a pest
So.... The protagonist of Primal is an ancestor of Bayek from Assassin’s Creed Origins? Bayek is surely a beast master, because he is able to tame Senu. Also the bows in Assassin’s Creed Origins are quite similar to the ones in Primal.
I think you'll find that most bows are similar.. stick.. string.. arrow.. center made thicker for strength. and isn't something that would necessarily be linked. Most will also be called "Hunter bow" as the main purpose of the bow is.. to.. Hunt As for Senu.. both the main characters from Primal and Assassin's creed 3 got their ability through drinking a substance, which (to our knowledge) isn't the way that Bayek gets his relationship with Senu. Falconry (= taming birds of prey to assist in hunting and such) is something that may have done as early as 2000BC according to the earliest accounts that have been found. So having an eagle as a companion (even without drinking magic potions) wouldn't be a "new" thing around 40BC. Especially given Bayek's hunting history it wouldn't be unlikely that he'd have experience with falconry. While the relationship between the eagle and Bayek is strong. Some of it (the taking control of the eagle and vision) will most likely be just for the sake of gameplay mechanics. Or we can start adding Game of Thrones to the shared universe too.. as Bran controls crows and other animals..
Simar Gamer now we can go further to Kassandra/Alexios. Even in both Origins and Odyssey, the three protagonists can knock out then tame animals once you unlock a certain ability in the two games.
StevePhotographs I see what you mean, but I do thought the characters in Farcry 4 drank anything, it could be possible that Connor lost or started to lose this ability after so many years, and that he just restarted a cycle
Ubisoft making games that have one interconnected lore, or Ubisoft reusing the same content and ideas through all their games? I'm thinking it's the second one.
+camron reynosa "First person slasher" is actually a legitimate genre that games such as Chivalry fall under, however it doesn't make much sense for a game where you stab, club and impale people and animals, so I guess it would be First Person Survival
+Jay Plays *SPOILER ALERT* IF YOU HAVENT WATCHED OR PLAYED THE GAME YET BUT PLAN ON IT DONT LOOK DOWN FURTHER PLEASE I DONT WANT TO SPOIL ANYTHING FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVENTS SEEN IT Maybe on why Delilah left and didn't wait for you like is there a reason or is there something more truly sinister to Bryan's death or maybe just maybe, a theory on Delilahs past and why she ended up there, like if you agree he should do one
Looking back at this, my nitpick is one of the main point was the bows being the same and well hunters use bows because they are stealthy and making bows out of two pieces of wood is the only way to make a good makeshift bow
+apollo moore Try explaining your reasoning before you make an immature and horrible joke that no one would genuinely laugh at. I for one agree with this theory, given the evidence provided. So make your argument.
They aren't tigers. They are a prehistoric family of cats. Paleontologists call them Sabertooth Cats. The one in the game is most likely some species of Smilodon. The name "sabertooth tiger" is just another incorrect name that people call prehistoric animals. Like pterodactyl (the family is Pterosaurs, the most famous species if pterodactylus). Sorry for being a pedant but that is what they are called.
ok, now having watched the whole thing: big question. Assassins creeds whole thing is about the muffins left by the First Civilization who made the human races. How do they fit with Fire Cry Primal?
well it's been awhile since I watched the theories and explanations of assassin's creed but I do believe that there were descendents of the first civilization and they have powers to see. aka eagle vision, tagging (when using a camera u can tag an enemy) or the new one in primal
But MatPat, if the Beast Mastery ability was able to be passed down through the generations, wouldn't that provide a HUGE evolutionary advantage for Takkar and his descendants? If this ability is passed down by genetics, would this trait not thrive and dominate throughout human evolution and therefore become far more common - maybe even standard for people in the modern day world?
+J Mezzy Probably true except for the fact that his family spread across North America. Then it would be isolated and like 90% of his people would have died for old world diseases.
Not necessarily. It might come with some genetic downsides keeping it from spreading too broadly (like just about every way humans have developed malaria tolerance like excessive blood iron in europeans or sickle cell anemia in africans). It might be a recessive trait that only pops up during very specific circumstances (like gingers). Or it might not be any more useful than competing traits (like skin colour). Evolution is rarely a straight line or binary. The closest we have to a trait so useful it overtook humanity is delayed lactose tolerance which though it spread like wildfire is still hardly universal. (Please excuse that i'm both not an expert and have hugely simplified all my examples.)
+nenad gavric we already know that though Australium is worth 5 times as much as gold and that is gold from 1980's (the setting of TF2) other TF2 theory's would be cool such as the nationality of the pyro and whether or not history has drastically changed in TF2 (cause there are quite a few nazi refrences)
It's more likely that Connor got his beast mastery blood from his native american mother, since I believe there is no other instance of this in any of the games (as far as i know) and you connected it to native american migration patterns, and Edward/Ezio/Altair/etc. are European.
+Qrow then again, maybe Takkar was one of the first humans to gain the ability to see through walls, giving that ability to Connor's bloodline AND the other lines of assassins (Altair, Ezio, Edward, etc)
+Qrow The timeline is a LONG time man, tribes split up and went everywhere, everyone was centralised in africa, then spread, he would have got a few kids out before they even left the african continent. From there some went north into europe, some went east, trough asia and across the land bridge over to the american continent.
Isn't the reason some people in the AC universe have that "Eagle Sense", because they are descendants of the "first humans", the alien space gods things? The ones Ubisoft seems to have stopped focusing on after Desmond's death. + I always thought that the protagonist of the AC games were not related, and that Desmond was the only one related to all of them, that's what made him special.. right? (Edward and Connor are obviously related, but I though they were the only exception).
+FearDeFreak Well, they do certainly have very differing roots, but like all man, they came from the same source. It's quite likely that they are all "related" in that their early ancestors were the same.
I actually love that Ubisoft sponsors you, it shows that they're curious as to what the players of a game make from what they put in it, and that they check for inconsistencies in their lore/research.
I had to pause the video for a minute to appreciate the line "hepatitis-induced hallucinations." lmao well done MattPatt, or whoever wrote the script. Clap and a half just for that.
fc primal takes place in middle europe it is said in the beginning of the game but there is still almost 12000 years before connor was born so takkar stull might be connors ancestor idk
When you get an blood donation, you also don't know the name of the donator which means you intake the blood of a stranger with your blood type. The doctor isnt giving you HIS blood, he is only there for the transaction. Also when do people get blood donations? When they are injured. It's most likely that this will happen in the nearest hospital thus meaning that you in fact DON'T know the operating doctor there unless you are like 90 yrs old and every week in hospital but I highly doubt that. You get blood from a stranger transmitted by an professional stranger.
How is it disproven location isn't even much of a big deal to the theory? All that really mattered was the time period n the hunters n then you can link the games together because they are the ancestors to the people in Ubisoft games.
George Talavera it matters specifically in the case of far cry 4, where the placement of takkar's origins has to be before but on the way to the india/nepal region. it's highly unlikely that a tribe of people would move from central europe to south asia, let alone even be able to do that.
+George Talavera Location was actually very important to his theory. He uses migration patterns as his means of linking primal ancestrally to all the other games. Putting the game in Slovakia takes it off that migratory route, which completely unhinges the theory, since now you have no way to explain the similarities beyond hand waving it and saying 'somehow his ancestors got there'.
I would like to say my father, being a very traditionalist type native man, taught me from a very young age that the best way to make a bow is to use two sticks one long and a small one in the middle of the main stick, the reason I felt being that you couldn't put all your faith in the one stick to not break when pulling and releasing so the second stick helped ensure hat would hopefully not happen.
Matpat. Can you do more theories? On your main channel. Not GT live. I honestly don't wanna watch a 3 hour video where I have to watch the entire thing for 1 theory.
+Piemaster554 He doesn't do theories on GTlive, except the one FNAF theory that he put at the start of a stream. Live streams are mainly just for playing games, not theorizing.
Also, as an additional thing, the lore in Assassin's Creed focuses a lot on the "Isu", the race that created human beings and the Pieces of Eden. There are three that are mentioned the most: Jupiter, Juno and Minerva. Minerva was also depicted as a Roman diety, the goddess of crafts, wisdom and strategy, who's symbol is nothing else than an owl. What do we see in Far Cry Primal? A spectral owl giving seemingly supernatural powers to someone who is theorized to be the ancestor of the assassins that interact with the Isu. Seems like a pretty good connection to me.
cool theory. looking forward to see more from you. I want to point out that you mentioned primal takes place around napal but According to devs, primal set somewhere in Europe. Most precisely present day slovakia.
He said Farcry 4 in Nepal. He guessed that Takkar was following one of the theorized real life human migration patterns would come to the Nepal region. He meant that Primal doesn't take place in Nepal. Just that Takkar or some of his kids ended up there before his later descendants moved on to the Americas.
Gavin Pursley I understood him as saying that he didn't know where Takkar was but that it would make sense that He, or a very close descendant, would end up in Nepal. But that's just me. Maybe I got to rehear it. I did reply to this as soon as I stopped listening but I'm sure he didn't say that he knew. He reiterated multiple times that he didn't have much to go on when he made this.
I heard this in one of the assassin's den podcast. One of the write say they don't want the assassin to be all related cause it make the world look small. Also Zoe is the Mohawk so Haytham wouldn't have the hunter vision nor Edward, but I wonder where does this put Adam and Eve.
+LittleGadget However, it is still completely possible for them to be descended from a guy in 10,000 BC. I mean, two descendants at their time period in comparison to the Primal protag could still be related, but removed 100 times or more by that point.
+FondSteam39 To be paid by a developer to show footage of their game, feels (to me) the developer is desperate. Also surprised they didn't pay them to make the game sound good. If Ubisoft (or some other dev) came to me and attempted to pay me lots of money to show off their game on my channel, I would refuse. I would do it for free, yet tell them "I have the right to s**t on this game at my digression if it requires."
+Wanderer of the Wastes MattPatt takes a lot of sponsorships man... BUT people really just need to get over it. If you watch a lot of shows on the internet (youtube or otherwise) and want content to keep being made we just need to deal with the ads built into the videos because they provide for the creators in a more consistant and substantial way.
Far Cry Primal to other Games : I'm your ancestor Ancestors The Humankind Odyssey : *grunts* And who taught you to use rock and sticks to make spear as well as my primal survival vision to see through ?
exckept the kenway's arent related to the auditore family or the ibn lahad family Altair is an anscestor through desmond's mother, and one of Ezio's descendants probably married one of connor's descendants along the way
***** oh xD but i wasn't mentioning far cry in my comment, I havent played the games yet, (got FC3 for free from that UBI 30 thing) i was just mentioning the AC side lol
Nah, the entire explanation of how the Animus works puts up the framework for genetic memory being the cause for reincarnation. For Connor, another Desmond incarnation, to pop up down in Kenway's line automatically relates them by blood... Somehow. Ezio, did get around. Black Flag was a prequel to AC 3. Answering the question; How did Ezio's genetics make it to America.
*Facepalm* The Auditore family and Kenway family are related, but the Lbn La'ahad family are not related to either. Altair's family is of paternal ancestry to Desmond while the Auditore and Kenway family are of maternal ancestry. Also, to answer your question of how Ezio's genetics got to America. An Auditore most likely migrated to London where they married someone and after generations Edward Kenway was born, so when he had Haytham and Haytham went to America, Haytham obviously had Connor. Connor has been confirmed to have had two children with an unnamed woman. Also no, the animus is not based on Reincarnation. It is all genetics. Desmond is genetically related to Ezio and Altair and Edward. He is genetically related to all the protagonists in the first 4 assassins creed games. Possibly even related to Arno, Jacob and Evie via Paternal lineage. We cant know for sure about those last three, though.
In the video mat talks about how humans migrate out of Africa and go two ways.. Towrds Europe and Asia. He also talks about how the main character is an ancestor to other characters as If the game takes place in Africa but it's doesnt.
+Alan Ricks however, lets say the traditions originated before the games main character, it would disprove that this is anything that would Change the current theory except for the thing's related to location
+Alan Ricks "migrate" and "ancestors" don't you know what these word implies? it means from africa they traveled to europe and the fact that it took place thousands of years would mean their offspring would get scattered all over the globe... if you're skeptical then know that there's thousands of people in europe and asia that's related to Genghis Khan (the Mongolian invader) in other words..they're ancestor is Genghis khan himself..his kids had kids, their kids had kids, and they didn't just stayed in one country and didnt always end up with the same race as them
Eagle vision is a result of isu decendants so eagle vision does not come from the primal protagonist however I think that Connors mom may be a decendant of his because her son Connor is the only one with the beast master trait.
