Honestly feel like "I'm scared" is an answer that makes sense to "Do you have dreams." An extended answer would be something along the lines of "I'm scared of my nightmares," Nightmares being a type of dream, or "I have nightmares. I'm scared of them." Considering the crying child is, you know, A CHILD, it would make sense for him to clam up a bit when reminded of something that terrifies him. Mike's drawing would just be there to help make that connection clear.

THEORY HEADCANON: The Glamrock animatronics are all fragments of Afton's mind. Sun and Moon is William's insanity and madness, Chica is his greed and deception(She tries to coax Gregory the most), Monty is William's rage, Roxy is his narcissism and self-hatred for his failures, and Glamrock Freddy is his father nature.(Maybe Freddy would have been a much more violent protector had it not been for Michael's spirit inside him)

I think the Dave solution also follows a similar flow as Cassidy, where most of the name was found through one method then Mike steps in to give the remaining letters. This also makes me think this is Mike kinda putting them back together by finishing the rest of the name

I was thinking about Cassidy's question to Dave "Do you have dreams?" and Dave's reply "I'm scared" and, if you think about it without the picture of Nightmare drawn by Mike on the corner, it can make sense. Dave might have replied with "I'm scared" for a multitude of reasons. He may have said this because when he does dream, if at all, he only has nightmares that make him terrified. Now that question reads as "Do you have dreams?" and the response means "Yes, and I'm scared of them". Dave could have also replied with "I'm scared" because he is scared to see what would happen if he tries to dream. Think about it, if Dave is the protagonist of the FNAF 4 game, he probably doesn't feel safe trying to sleep after that traumatic experience, especially for a little kid. With this in mind, the question reads "Do you have dreams?" and the response means "I'm scared of dreams" or "I'm scared to try and dream" or "I'm scared of falling asleep". There are many other ways this two word response can be interpreted with or without the context of the Nightmare picture, but those are the ones that make the most sense to me. I think Occam's Razor also can be applied here - basically, they tried to make a good puzzle, and did a pretty good job, but stumbled at the end. In the GTLive that Mat and Ash were talking about this, he referenced escape rooms, and how something can make total sense to the designer and go totally over the heads of the players. Obviously they can't fix the problem in this instance short of releasing a new edition of the security log book, so it's a messy solution. But compared to Evan, Dave makes a lot more sense in the context of the FNAF Universe... well, as much as *anything* in this universe makes sense, I suppose.

The reason I will still be calling Crying Child “Evan” is for two plot points! *Fazbear Fright is NOT the only reference to him being named Evan!* Someone pointed out on Reddit that the two brothers from the VIP novel are named “DEVON AND IKE” like Evan and Mike, and have the same characteristics as Mike and Evan. BUT, this is a solid theory and I’m starting to believe it! Either way, what we name we chose for this kid, is valid I guess. I’m gonna headcannon Evan’s middle name is David!

While watching this video, I did a dive to dive into the meaning of all the Afton's names. The name William comes from Germanic origin and means "desire." The name Michael comes from Hebrew, meaning "who is God." And Elizabeth also comes from Hebrew meaning “God's promise” or “God is my oath.” I feel like these could have some lore implications, especially with all of the Afton children's names deriving from Hebrew along with the fact that Scott is a Christian and there is some Bible imagery (at least I think so) throughout the series. Edit: This is why I should finish the video before commenting, I commented this 10 minutes through the video, and 1 minute after, he already brings this up.

Meanwhile sammy's name is also a short for the Hebrew name "Samuel" (שמואל) which means "god has heard" or "name of god". The former makes more sense due to how sammy worships the ink demon and wants to be noticed by him. Thomas is just like you said in the video. Susie is also of Hebrew origins and means lily. Sharing its connection with a flowering plant, the lily is as essential in the garden as in culture and literature. The herbaceous plant also symbolizes purity, fertility, and innocent beauty, which forms the perfect image of your little cherub. One thing that was left out that I think would strengthen the “Dave” argument was that Afton used the alias of “Dave” in the first book to gain the trust of the main characters. Afton had to use a name that would innocence, goodness, and trusting. Wouldn’t it make sense for him to reflect upon his youngest son, full of goodness and innocence before dying tragically? In a universe where every name, number, finger and toe has a meaning, Dave seemed kind of random for Afton to use as an alias unless it meant something to him.

I really appreciate it when you guys have a message about being kind in the theorist community and sticking up for the little guys. I know that theorizing can be difficult when it comes to the indie mascot horror communities, especially when solid evidence that holds up through ALL the wringers is hard to find. At first, Dave felt a bit out of place within the other names as a group since parents tend to name their kids something that can make cohesive sense together. Sometimes that can be phoneticlally, by rhyming them or even looking at it aesthetically. Michael has two syllables, and Elizabeth has 4. Dave has only one. I thought Dave could possibly just be a nickname. Maybe his birth name is David? Definately David, who names their kid a nickname? Then aesthetically the names are starting to make sense together. Michael, David, Elizabeth...Then why is Dave the only nickname? Okay. Dave, Mike and Liz. It then started making sense for me once I thought of it like that.

I think that the theory of it is kinda okay but still a bit of a stretch also because the name means to swear on something and not just promise, but idk Scott is not a hebrew speaker so the michael and elizabeth meaning could be how you interpreted them but the david is very much a stretch and a mistranslation

Before watching,I just need to say: I personally think the names in the logbook are the wrong way round. Dave is the Vengeful spirit (“I can’t see” links to the Stitchwraith and the one who couldn’t see in the Stitchwraith was the Vengeful Spirit parallel Andrew and the other lines are just vague enough that they could apply to multiple characters) and Cassidy is CC because the Faded text knows things about the Afton house and Michael that no random victim of Afton would know. Also,Vengeful and Afton line up decently well with David and Goliath. Meanwhile,CC and Mike make more sense to be Cain and Able After looking into the name Cassidy,I found a few interesting threads. For one,it’s an Irish name which links to the Afton’s British origins. As for meanings,it can mean curly haired (which doesn’t link to CC or Vengeful), Clever (which could maybe link to either of them? I have more proof that Dave is likely the correct answer. Look at the 39 red tally marks across the book. They are broken up into seven groups of five and then only one group of four. What name has seven letters? Cassidy. What name has four letters? Dave. Boom puzzle solved also explaining what the tally mark were meant for as well.
