Burnie is a smart guy. He identified talent and did everything he could to get Gavin over. I mean Gavin was a success, that was clear, but I don't think anyone else at Rooster Teeth saw what kind of value Gav could add to justify all this time, money and effort put into getting him over. Burnie saw it was definitely worth it, shown by all the cash and time he spent over many years to get him, and look how much value Gavin has added - he's worked on most of the major projects in Rooster Teeth, he's a key member of the Podcast and Achievement Hunter, he's inspired so many t-shirts that have brought in tons of revenue and he's really one of the main faces of Rooster Teeth. Who could have guessed this would happen? Well Burnie saw he had immense potential - smart guy.

I really, really have a newfound respect for Gavin. Like, he gets so much shit for "Gav'n" things up in Lets Play videos... but then you hear his serious side, and his story and it's just awe inspiring. He took what he wanted in life and worked damned hard for it. I salute this guy.

I've sort of lost my "I want to work at Roosterteeth" thing lately and now it's "I want to find my own Roosterteeth" in the sense that I want to find a place where I can think "this is amazing, I can't believe I'm paid to be here doing something I love" and I think it's a much better dream to reach for. If I ever end up there it would be amazing but I'm not going to feel like it's the end of the world if it never happens. :)

Man, that little moment of silence near the end where Gavin realizes the implications of what Burnie is saying to him... that gets me. It's like he's basically telling him "one day, you will be in my position." And sure enough, just over two years later, what do we get? Gavin Free, Creative Director of Rooster Teeth. Who could have fucking guessed? I'm proud of this little goofball Brit. I know he thinks it's silly that he's got an 'Extraordinary Ability' Visa, or whatever, but given everything he's accomplished, and everything he's continuing to do... I'd say Gavin's pretty fucking extraordinary.

Gavin truly is a very very lucky guy and he's had an amazing life and was destined for something great I feel. His story is amazing I really do love it, he was filming slow motion for the formula one at just 16 whilst working at Waitrose and now here he is in his mid to late twenties. A millionaire, living in America playing video games for a living with a catalogue of famous films he was the camera man for, his own RU-vid channel that's gone viral so many times and starring as a main character in a real movie, he's gone from behind the camera to in front of the camera. Amazing story, amazing guy, truly deserves it.

I've always loved Gavin, he's been my favorite achievement hunter member forever. But this video made me so much more appreciative of him because of his struggle to achieve his goals and make his dreams reality. I am really inspired by his story, and I feel like I need to make some big decisions on a whim whilst chasing my dreams. Thank you Gavin Free, you are an inspiration.

I couldn't agree more. I couldn't even imagine the struggle that Gavin faced to become apart of Roosterteeth. This video showed that Gavin will work his ass off for his dream job, especially when the criterion is something as ridiculous as becoming famous and winning an award about it. And I think the best part about Gavin is that getting to Roosterteeth wasn't the end for him, It's always been hard working and for the entertainment of all the fans all of Roosterteeth and Achievement Hunter have brought in. Gavin Free is more amazing than I've ever imagined. It's been more than fun and the future will only get better. :)

I've never really appreciated how hard Gavin has worked to get where he is today, I always just thought "That lucky smegpot" but he's genuinely worked his little arse off to get to the position he's in, and this video has made me look up to him a lot more.

Gavin mentioned how some people find the different parts of the RT family via their other videos. I just wanted to say, even though he will never see this, that I found Rooster Teeth/Achievement Hunter via The Slow Mo Guys. And I am forever grateful that his visa took so bloody long because the internet had never given me so much enjoyment until then. So...thank you!

I found Red vs Blue when I was like 6 and it was season 5 (So yeah I'm young sorry) and found achievement hunter through roosterteeth and I am so grateful for what they do and I would probably be a hipsterswaggot or something if I never watched RvB and tried acting a new one out with my friend when we were like 6-7 so thanks Rooster Teeth.

SirBritishTeabags I found RvB sometime during season 4, but lost interest for quite a long time, i came back to it...Must have been sometime in season 8, and fell in love with the channel, even though they don't read these comments, it's amazing seeing how so many people are supportive of them, even getting emotionally invested (me personally of Micheal's engagement to Lindsey) so I have to thank them simply for making the content they do, and I'm sure the 3rd generation will be just as good.

Whenever I'm feeling weirdly down or demotivated about stuff I usually watch this video or the Game Time with Ray. It usually makes me feel a lot better to hear how perseverance really can make anything happen and that you have no idea where your choices will take you. Really heartwarming and interesting stuff. :D

I want to see a game time with Ryan. Listening to the background of a lot of rt employees are quite inspirational and game time is probably one of their best shows just because of that.

I've watched all the Game Time Videos now and I have to say - AWESOME! It's really interesting to see, how many faces of rooster teeth were just fans back in in 2002-2005. These videos were really inspiring, especially if you want your future job to involve gaming, video editing, voice acting and the list goes on. Unfortunately I'm living in Germany and we aren't as advanced as America in relation of whole companies which produce videos for the internet, but... we'll see what the future brings :)

I love the Game Times, they're nice and calm to listen to, often times like how I'd listen to the podcast, but usually almost like an interview of a specific person. The regular AH Let's Plays are awesome, very funny, very interesting! But for some reason I get some type of calming interest in just watching or listening to these. I really hope that there's more Game Times in the future, because I love this.

At 1:03:37 when Gavin was telling about how he got depressed at a certain point of time, it actually made me tear up considering when I think of Gavin, I think of a happy, go-lucky guy who has been REALLY lucky and furtunate in his life that LOTS of other people have not experience. Him working at job that he definitely enjoys just shows it.

I don't think I'll be working at RT anytime soon. But I'm making my own thing, making every new thing better than the previous one. For me, RT is an inspiration and proof that you can make a great company that's profitable AND have fun doing it! Pointing at Rooster Teeth and saying "See! They can do it! So can I !" has gotten a lot of people that were on the fence to go for it. Excited to see where I end up in 10 years :)

Its been two years since this video came out, and its still one of my favorite videos that RoosterTeeth has put out. Such an amazing story, told amazingly well. Its nice to see this kind of a video, despite how old it is, in RT cause mainly what I see through RT/AH is just comedy and comedy based gameplay and you know. Just listening Burnie and Gavin talk on how what Gavun was doing before U.S., how slow mo guys came to be and just listening. I genuinely enjoyed this!

This video really made me reconsider my whole life in an hour and a half. Gavin is absolutely great, he's a successful man and he deserves every good thing that comes to him. He worked hard to achieve everything he needed for his visa by making slow mo videos, so he could get hired for his dream job at roosterteeth, he had the right opportunities and he made the right choices and now he's doing what he likes to do where he likes to. His story made me feel so proud of him but at the same time it made me feel very miserable, because I know that I will never have the opportunities he had and I'm never going to achieve what he has been able to achieve, I'm never going to be as happy as he is and I just realized that I really have nothing in my life. So Gavin, go on and be what I'm never gonna be, I'm really proud of you.

Wow, that was amazing. Gavin's final "It's been a hell of a journey" was followed by the game time with Ray playing journey as the large featured video in the panel of videos that came up after the video was over. Also Burnie hinting to Gavin that Gavin could one day have his job, made me tear up a bit, the silence of Gavin was a perfect response.

It's really amazing how much Gavin has lived in the last 11 years, it's truly inspiring, and a story that's kind of hidden which is a shame. But it's because of the SMG that I started to watch RT and AH shows and why I also see working at Rooster Teeth as a dream job. Thanks Gav for bringing all these wonderful things into my life.

Same! I just posted almost the same comment and I wish I had scrolled down first. I would never have found Rooster Teeth had it not been for The Slow Mo guys. And going by Burnies speech at the end, he knows the same is true for many other people. What he failed to mention was that it is the quality content RT bring out that has kept us watching. I have been redirected to many other youtube channels before via other videos but NONE have kept my attention, kept me watching or entertained me as much as Rooster Teeth has.

Gavin is such a huge inspiration to me, its always been my dream to live in america and to see this guy achieve that at such a young age and to do the things hes done. Without going to university, getting a degree, without any kind of amazing ability or skill or career that takes years to master. It really is amazing, my biggest inspiration in life.

This was a very fun and interesting video! I love listening to, as Gavin puts it, people's origin stories for working at Rooster Teeth! And wow Gavin have to go through a lot. I don't know if I could have dealt with all that visa trouble/stress.

I have such a man-crush on Gavin. Hearing his endeavors about coming to the U.S. and becoming part of the Roosterteeth inspires me that your dreams are possible as long as you work hard for them. Most people call him an idiot, but I know he's an intelligent, young man!

Honestly I know you guys probably won't read this and that no one really cares or knows who I am but I've been having a crap day all day and this video has been the only thing that has made me smile, I'm a gamer in the Halo community that isn't really known but I love Achievement Hunter and Rooster Teeth and I wanted to thank all of you for making the videos you make and putting a smile on my face :)

So recently on the podcast Burnie and Gavin were talking about how nervous they were about Gavin having to go back to re-up his visa and I had no idea why that was, it should be simple! Now I know why. Love Gavin to death, but now I respect the hell out of him too
