That’s how it is in the nature. I’ve been stopped 3 times in the last 5 years and every time I smile say Hi and ask if I can set down my weapon. They always appreciate this and I always thank them for keeping the state lands so nice and accessible. I’ve never been cited even tho I didn’t have my orange hat on last year. If you’re nice to them, they’ll be nice to you. (As long as you’re following the rules and have your proper permits and or licenses).

The warden actually checking the fish first is the golden part of this video, no tantrum no drama just passing the good vibes and everyone staying on their lane
I've never met a game warden (we call them DFO here) that wasn't extremely nice and chill. Most of them get into that line of work because they love hunting and fishing and just being outdoors, so unless you're doin something to escalate the situation, you're usually fine. I've had them give me tips on good fishin spots and different lures they like to use. I'm sure there's some grumpy ones out there, but luckily I haven't had to deal with them.

Most men d, y the socials and media will only show you the ones acting like fools. Don't treat that as the truest sample size of who men are in the world.
It's kinda hard for me to see this sort of interaction in a positive light when there's such a massive power imbalance between cops and everyone else. The guy "doing his job" seems friendly but he's also carrying a loaded gun and if being friendly doesn't get him what he wants he'll use it. Anyone he interacts with has to be polite to him or risk suffering police violence.
@561REALTLK Him being humble and obedient is just a huge plus in his personality. You're right, it has nothing to do with fishing though, just with the interaction in itself. He was respectful and responded correctly to the game wardens questions.

If you're gonna speak then don't say a bunch of nonsense. You're the kind of person that would most likely escalate a situation when it doesn't need to be escalated.

Most officers are super respectful if you don't give an attitude, no point in not complying, complain about it after not to his face he don't care. You'll leave with a cheap citation or a warning just comply and it's all good
My dads a game warden i appreciate this video and how the man handled himself and the officers with respect. This is the way things are supposed to be and work. Thank you for being a good, normal person in our society. These days its rare to see videos of normal respectful people lol.
There was a game warden in our local area that I need for almost 30 years, v he would often be a FTO for new conservation agents. Every time we would run into each other I'd ask him do you need to check anything he never did check me he knew I went by the rules. I've only had one bad interaction with a conservation agent. So I wouldn't even call that 5%. You sure do respect to a conservation agent and they will 95% of the time return the courtesy.

if a game warden comes by and there aren't a ton of boats out, if you're fishing they're going to make sure 1. you have a license 2. you're only keeping the right ones. that is life on texas lakes

I'm not one for any regulation either but in the case of fish and game some regulation is unfortunately a necessity and they do FAR FAR more than just asking for a (typically cheap) license here and there in terms of wildlife management. If you don't want to abide by these rules then don't but it's good for you that the majority will.

Been checked twice in 40 yrs fishing, and twice in those forty yrs waterfowl hunting...All positive and respectful encounters. The calm effect comes from obeying the laws, and knowing you are....I like slabs as well. Fishemup Bud!

This is exactly how all police contact should go. Both sides were calm, agreeable, chill. Everyone was professional. The guy being stopped had everything in order and nothing to hide. Paperwork all up to date. No laws being broken. Everyone went on their way and continued their business. 💯 No arrests, no lawsuits, no demanding a supervisor, no racial allegations. Just people doing their jobs like normal. Thank you for being professional.
This is a classic example of how you address law enforcement. Even though it was a game warden this man was respectful, well spoken and accommodating to what they were checking. This was textbook and if more people acted like this when stopped, they’d be done in 5 min. 👍👍👍

I always have asked that, because you learn that down south. That's the first thing they ask you when you're out on a jetty with pole in hand, they walk up, you're fighting a fish 🐟 🤣 😂, then they want to see your fish 🐟 first! ALWAYS! When I've fished anywhere else, they've always asked for my license first.
