Ypu can also use it as a chorus pedal by blending the auto vibrato with clean signal. It’s an incredibly versatile pedal. I’ve had one for 18 months pr so now and still love it - there is no other pedal on the market that does all this and with an intuitive analog /manual interface.

I wish they’d have a less expensive version or a mini pedal. This would be in every guitarist’s home if they could find a way to bring the cost down to half - or even $99. It can still look the part and have core functions without all the bells and whistles. I hope the company will see my comments and figure out a way. I’m sure others have said the same too.

If you grease the nut slots, use a Luthiers knot at the string posts, debur the saddles or install roller saddles and smoothly stretch the strings a regular tremolo should stay in tune.

When I first saw this foot-operated Bigsby, like so many I was impressed. Alright, it doesn't change the strings themselves as does a pedal steel guitar, but it does electronically simulate the sound of the strings going flat or sharpening or a vibrato effect. Well, we've come pretty far along with this kind of technology as this otherwise excellent unit well shows. With practice and skill, it might sound somewhat authentic in some circumstances, although I have not heard it perform so in the demo vids. It sounds very synthesized to me which differentiates it from the sound of a real Bigsby in a fundamental way. Even putting that aside, I was still in some doubt about it. Then it struck me and I realized why I likely wouldn't get one of these, as brilliant and innovative as it is. Two reasons: One - When we use a vibrato arm on a Strat, Jazzmaster or any guitar with a Bigsby, when we shake, dip or pull on the arm, it's an organic motion that occurs as we are playing, similar to applying a bend or finger vibrato. We don't even think about it most or any of the time because it's so much a part of our playing. We operate a vibrato arm with our picking hand or fingertips while the other hand is fretting the notes. It seems all of one thing. When we apply vibrato, it feels like we’re doing it, it sounds like we’re doing it, and by Zeus, we ARE doing it as an integral part of our playing, seamlessly and effortlessly. Now, when we push on a pedal to create a variable effect (not just on or off), no matter how nicely it has been designed, it’s another thing entirely. I know, acoustic piano players, after much instruction and practice learn to use the sustain, sostenuto and soft pedals in sync with their hands. Also, many guitarists use a volume pedal (myself included) to good effect. Still, none of those pedals change a note’s pitch as does a Bigsby or other vibrato device. Even on a keyboard, the pitch control is a wheel that is operated with the left hand. It’s not a natural thing for us to use our feet to make such a fundamental change as pitch, and a device that does so adds something extra to think about, a distraction if you will, while when we do it with our picking hand it seems far more natural and organic. Perhaps an analogous example is that many guitarists feel uncomfortable using a wah pedal to any large extent while playing, thus the emergence of auto wahs. Two - With apologies to a very few great drummers who have mastered their kit’s foot pedals to an extraordinary degree, for the rest of us and for many physiological reasons, our feet do not operate as fluidly and as subtly as our hands and fingers. From our earliest history, our feet have an entirely different, highly-specialised job to do. Accordingly, they and that part of our brain that controls them have not developed the ability to do fine, fluid movement. Such has never been necessary for our survival and development. Making a note or chord just barely shimmer with an almost inaudible but expressive musical vibrato is not hard to do with the hand or fingers, but I doubt that many if any, could do it with their foot. Also, the way this pedal is designed we have to stand on it to produce a vibrato that subtly goes both up and down melodically. That is something that a foot would find very difficult or impossible to do. However, this is no problem at all when we do it with our hands and/or fingers. Sure, if a dramatic dive-bomb is desired, this unit will supply it as well as the hand, better perhaps in that it leaves the hand free. But that is my point, I don’t want to divorce or separate my hand and fingers from my playing. For me at least, a vibrato unit on a guitar is a very subtle thing and I like to use it sparingly, expressively and musically as I see fit. I don’t think that a foot-controlled unit can do that, at least not with my foot, and so it’s not for me. P.S. I mean no disrespect or unkindness toward those involved in designing, developing and building this pedal. As it is, it’s a brilliant and innovative piece of engineering and construction, and I applaud it and them on that level. I wish them well, and if any guitarist finds it useful, I say more power to them. I hope they sell thousands of them.

I agree with you, at least “in part”…. (I use the guitar Volume knob, no volume pedal). I play guitar, using the whole guitar…. Strings, trem /vibrato, Volume and Tone knobs… I also, have this “physical and emotional” connection to my guitar’s term/vibrato system. It’s organic…. It’s muscle memory…. It’s emotive. I probably will never buy a device like that Bigsby Pedal, BUT I can’t wait for some guitarist to get one and do something with it that WE didn’t expect !!!!!!! That’s what is so cool about music. Someone out there will be innovative with some piece of gear, and inspire the rest of us !!!!!!! 🌞😄😺🎸🎛💛

I guess most people put on a Bigsby because of its iconic look, which is a bit lost on a pedal. Maybe they need to make a Virtual Jeff Pro that looks like a Bigsby. The latter also abslutely nails the pitch shifting to sound natural imho.

Hi, Ronald! Thanks for your interest. Like most guitar pedals, you could certainly use this with keyboards as long as you’re careful with levels - many keyboards have a much hotter output than a typical electric guitar. I haven’t personally tried this pedal with keyboards, so I don’t know how well it would perform in practice - but Gamechanger advertises it for use with electric, acoustic, and bass guitars, so I’d imagine it would also work well with keyboard sounds such as acoustic piano and strings. I hope this helps - feel free to contact me directly with further questions, and thanks again! Caleb Lowrey, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1620, caleb_lowrey@sweetwater.com
