The FM3 (and the other Fractal modelers) is the best modeler out there. So glad it now has gapless preset changes. What is the point of saying "it's about time" rather than just appreciating a great improvement to a great product? Even before this update you could get "gapless" changes using scenes.

Can't wait to try this! I switched from HX Stomp to the FM3 about 3 months ago. I prefer the FM3 for clean, crunch, tube sounds, ambient effects, jazz, and rhythm guitar. Pretty much everything sounds better to me. It also feels better in the room to play. However, there's still something about John's "Eric" lead tones on the HX Stomp that I can't get on the FM3. John has made some FM3 presets that try to get the "Eric" thing and while they sound good in their own way, I think the HX Stomp has a unique character that's somehow hard to replicate on that specific lead tone on FM3. So I keep my HX Stomp for that sound, specifically, and for everything else use my FM3. Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm very glad they were able to achieve this important stage of development. I had too many problems with my FM3 (part of that was a significant lack of time to dedicate to it). I'm pretty happy actually running an FX8 in 4cm, but I would love to upgrade to what they were able to do starting with the Axe FX III. When I'm able, I'm looking closely at the FM9.

Don’t forget the Global settings to ALL and update the amps in utility as Leon Todd shows. I’m still hearing a gap on yours.

thats true! may i pronounce the FINALLY. Audio gear wich interrupts audio while using it in a context it was designed for is just not GOOD audio gear. Sorry im a bit tired of the hooray waves when companies fix ancient flaws. whats next? "LINE6 just fixed the internal midi sync of the looper BlocK! this changes everything" or: "GAMECHANGING! quad cortex now runs neural dsp plugins!" tired of the oversell. i hope geartube takes notice. and im not the only one starting to make demands.

It is for me. :) Playing live and switching from a scene with just dirt to a chorus with delay and modulation with a gap is horrible.

If I buy an FM3 and FC-6, does it get me to the same place as an FM9? I need to play smaller venues where I just don't have room for the FM9 but other times, I could use more switch accessible tones.

Seems as if many comments lament your use of the term " game-changing". Those people probably don't have to come up with catchy titles for their videos, so it doesn't really bother me. It might seem to be game-changing to you, so go ahead if you like. I'm not interested in using modelling anyway, but enjoy hearing you play.

In the Eric Steckel preset, it was too hot, so you turned the output volume down. Why not just turn down the Amp block level and keep mains always at 0DB?

Im curious, why is this such a huge deal when fractal already have gapless switching with scenes? Or is there a limit to scenes that I’m unaware of?

Previously, if you change channels on any blocks from scene to scene, there’s an audible “gap” in the output.

All the AMP MODELLERS could all potentailly do this plus SCENES and yet none are doing SMOOTH DELAY aka G-LAB style and yet can do this so easily. Also none are adding a VST along with all their fancy crap like LINE6 UX2 has and still does! Likewise so few allow to record DRY plus WET plus record WET from a PRE-FX SEND like Line6 did plus allow connecting a Mic to use a proper Mic Preamp plus FX but not record DELAY/REVERB. They are all so far behind they are on crack!

Fractal FM3 are about 10-15% more expensive than the Fender TMP in Australia...which is nuts.

@@NickGranville I guess it depends on the amps you are prefer. I think the fender amps sound great in the TMP..that's their main focus, really. The non-Fender amps in the TMP are more miss than hit, unlike Fractal.

I know that Kemper signal chain includes much less blocks, but it's crazy that Kemper has been doing this since the beginning. I would never buy a digital modeler that can't do it, it's big compromise in my book.

a 1000+ modeler from the "BEST" modeling company to NOT have gapless switching is a major flaw imho. when did it come out 19?20? bravo. 5 years for fixing a major design flaw. guitarists are too tame, not demanding enough. Paying too much. those companies have become lazy. watchout those chinese modelers are catching up. still dreaming of line 6 to get its looper block sync to midi time....

bro FM3 always had a way of seamless changing boards that is the scenes. This update just make changing presets easier. Don't forget to take off your pants while shitting big companies not verifying a thing

Not strictly true - until recently switching between amp channels etc wasn’t seamless regardless of using scenes.

@@FullCircleguitar Mesa Boogie introduced channel switching amps in the 1970s. Jimi was switching sounds with pedals in the ‘60s. Buddy Holly had someone reaching up and switching his Strat pickup in the recording studio in the 1950s. No gaps.

@@10sassafras lmao modelers could switch amp channels seamlessly and switch pedals on and off too for ages within the same preset, and much more seamlessly than a real pedal board unless you had a midi loop switcher with scenes/snapshots. the new feature is that you can now switch between between entire presets. which, yes, is a big step forward.

@@givemeajacksonhmm, in the analog world, can’t you switch “gaplessly” between entirely different “presets” (say, two pedalboards) with a simple A/B switcher of the sort I’ve seen in a million pedal shoot-outs? Or am I misunderstanding?

@@10sassafras so you can switch seamlessly between a Mesa Boogie Mark IV and a Marshall JCM800 and a Roland JC120 with this gapless channel switching on the Mesas from the 70's? I've owned a Mesa, manufactured around 2010, which had an audible gap when I switched channels. The Fractal has zero gap.
