If you don't have it, definetely get Super Mario Strikers! One of my favorite games period. Also, love the GameCube! I never understood why so many people treat it like a dud amongst other Nintendo consoles. In my opinion, the GameCube might have more great games than any of them...
The GameCube is such an underrated console. I absolutely loved mine. Just a basic console with no gimmicks and not once did it crash or break on me. 10/10
It's cool and all to go back now and play the games you want but trust me owning this system back in the day was pretty painful because there would be long stretches with no releases or no good releases (we're talking 3-4 games over a period of 5+ months) and those 3-4 games would be mediocre ports of games that came out on PS2 a year+ earlier. It was tough having the GC as your only modern console at the time. You really needed an Xbox or PS2 as well. Sadly I was a kid and couldn't afford to have more than one console so I had to sell mine to fund a PS2 as I just couldn't wait 6+ months each time for a good new game to come out.
Adam Solomon the only reason I bought it was because was like 15 and had no money and didn’t expect it to wow me as much as it did . Mario sunshine is imo the best Mario I have ever played
I’d actually recommend Call of Duty 2 big red one, it was specifically made for last gen systems never getting a PC release. Out of the entire call of duty series it’s in my top 5. And interesting bit is that they got several actors from HBO’s Band of Brothers to do the voices. It’s such a obscure title in a well know franchise that barely anyone talks about today
Same here! I can’t believe how you never hear about this game, but it was brilliantly done. Many hours were spent on my copy and I don’t even know how many times I’ve replayed it.
I picked up Big Red One earlier this year for the first time and I'm really enjoying it. And this is coming from someone who doesn't really like FPS games and barely plays them. Just shows what a solid game it is.
@@shaquayquay8406 i beat it on ps2 because i was that poor brown kid still on ps2/Gamecube in 2006 lol i dont regret it though i played the gamecube soo much!
Honestly such a nostalgic system for me, awesome to see it getting more love recently! Would definitely recommend the Mario Party games, Super Monkey Ball, Pokemon Colosseum + Pokemon Channel!
5:36 Wave Race 64 feels like it takes place in an alternate idyllic reality devoid of people (except for the racers) with a calm soundtrack that matches, while Blue Storm has that hard hitting 'tude that you find in the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater games it was competing against in the extreme sports genre.
I really like the on foot stuff in rebel strike. Always have. As a kid liked it even more than being in the aircraft. As an adult dealing with firing the mounted cannon is a real pain.
Medal of Honor Allied Assault for the PC remains one of the greatest first person shooters of all time. I have some friends who still maintain a multiplayer server for it if anyone wants
There's a great story behind it. Check out reference 3 on the wiki page (the archived preview from computer games magazine). It was conceived by a drunken producer as a giant middle finger to stupid licensed games. There's also a big box pc version, btw.
The Most Underrated GameCube Game To Ever Exist: Pokémon XD: Gale Of Darkness.... that game was way ahead of its time. Along with Spongebob: Battle For Bikini Bottom
Loved Windwaker on Gamecube, the art style wasn't for everyone but i found it charming & sailing around the island, the music, makes me wish i still had my Gamecube. Traded it in years ago to go towards whatever new hardware was being released, regret it now though. Gamecube was my first Nintendo console as i had been a sega kid with a Mega Drive at 6 & then a PS1 at 10 & on to all consoles, got a Gamecube about 6 months after it came out, always remember the suitcase handle & the mini discs, most quirkyl, very Nintendo. 13 was a great game, i had for the Xbox though, shame they mangled the remake with fortnite graphics.
Best intro music in RU-vid history! Thanks for the GameCube game video MJR! Unfortunately, I never owned one and only played a few games via friends! Definitely interested!
Thanks for the vid in hospital at the moment getting tendons fixed in my left arm, no gaming for me for 6weeks+. Really enjoyed the Zelda four swords on the system with the game boy advance adapters.! But I think Mario sunshine my favourite
I have 89 GameCube games, but I know you definitely have more than me. I wish I had a gaming room like yours. You're one of the reasons I started collecting video games. Been collecting for two years already ever since I was 17. Edit: Bruh i'm stupid, this video is 1 year old. How many GameCube games do you have now btw?
Have very fond memories of playing my friend’s Gamecube at university 15 years ago. Loved Wave Racer - our whole house used to take great pleasure in beating each other’s best times. Never played the N65 version though. Also, loved Mario Sunshine too - still don’t understand why some don’t rate it so much.
Darkened Skye is a game produced by Skittles. The exploration is a lot like "Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword" with weird forks in the road. The graphics are like Skyrim had a baby with "Time Splitters". Also, the voice acting is like "Time Splitters".
Mario Party 5, Scooby Doo: Night of 100 Frights, and Disney’s PK Out Of The Shadows are games I grew up with on the GameCube that I very much enjoy. I’ve beaten the Scooby Doo game 100% at least 5 times, and that’s not something I do very often. Mario Party 5 is always fun for me and I never seem to get bored of it. Whenever I have friends over, it’s one of the first games I offer up for us to play. Probably my favorite GameCube game I’ve ever played. PK is definitely a game I don’t ever hear anyone talk about, but it’s a pretty fun and wacky 3D level based game. Basically Donald Duck gets abducted by an alien and gets super powers and has to save the day. Definitely recommend picking that one up and playing it if you can find it at a decent price.
Seeing the master quest disc made me remember I had a disc that also had Majora's Mask on it. It was a promotional disk for the Gamecube. I think you got it if you pre-ordered the Gamecube. It comes with A link to the Past, Adventures of Link, Ocarina of Time, and Majora's Mask. I believe the Master Quest disc was a promotion for pre-ordering Wind Waker. It contains a demo of WW and the 4-pack disc contains a bunch of trailers for other games.
You should try to get a copy of Odama, that's definitely one of the most unique games on the system. A combination of voice controlled real time strategy and pinball from the creator of the Dreamcast classic Seaman
This is the last system they tried to keep up spec wise. But didn't go full force. And then they went out the box full time. God bless them. Hope third parties get their shit together for switch.
I feel the same. The GC was Nintendo's last system when they gave an actual fuck about staying competitive with the console market. Their last two (and current) systems hardware-wise have been a total joke. Sales figures aside, if they can't have the same 1:1 third-party ports as MS and Sony can... their systems are only good for the first-parties. That's not good enough.
MetallicBlade lol The most powerful console doesn't get all the games. PS1, PS2, Xbox 360 (it was super close, though), and Wii were all the weakest systems in their generation, and they got lots of 3rd party games lol
"Tried to keep up" is a little bit of an understatement though. It walks over the Ps2 and arguably has a more powerful cpu over Xbox (intensive 60 fps games like F-Zero GX). Nintendo finally produces an awesome competent machine w/o hardware bottlenecks unlike Snes and N64 and no one buys it, rip lol.
20:45 *I loved Pac-Man vs so much that I put in all my Photoshop skills an created a custom full boxart cover from the base Idea of this double pack box.* It took quite some weeks to finish because I wanted it to be as authentic as possible for an European realease, so I had to create the actual barcode for this and all the legal disclaimers, some ingame screenshots on the back and the age rating... It was soooo damn frustrating, but the result is really satisfying. MJR if you like I can send you a version of this custom cover as well, but I only made EU-de version because I did not care for US release that much^^
Skies of Arcadia: Legends is probably the only one that's missing. Surprisingly expensive as it's a rebalanced version of the Dreamcast game. There's also a Baten Kaitos prequel.
If you like James Bond, especially Goldeneye, you HAVE to play the Timesplitters games. They were on all the systems back then, but I owned the GameCube versions and adored them.
Some games I'd recommend are Star Fox Assault, Baten Kaitos Origins, Mega Man X Collection, Metal Arms, Freaky Flyers, Skied of Arcadia, Vexx, Tales of Symphonia, Time Splitters 2 and 3, Rayman 3, the Prince of Persia Trilogy, Beyond Good & Evil, Turok Evolution, Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy
The worst part of collecting for the PS2 is the incredible size and quality of the system's library - for every new pickup for the system, I find new intriguing titles that had eluded me!
The first Custom Robo game we had in germany was Custom Robo Arena for the Nintendo DS and I think it came out in the year 2006. Sadly it was the last release of the series as far as I remember. Loved the game and played it countless hours, over and over and over again to the point were I completed (almost) everything!
God, I had so many GameCube games at one point like Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix, Wario World, Donkey Konga, etc. Maybe I'll get them back some day...
HELLZ YES you should play the Harvest Moon games! A Wonderful Life is so addicting, I spent most of my summer playing it back in 2003 (Another Wonderful Life is basically the same but you play a girl, obviously). Harvest Moon: Magical Melody is also a good GC Harvest Moon game to get.
The thing about those old Medal of Honour games is that when you play them now, yes they are dated, but they should give you a great sense of nostalgia. They should give you that feeling of how good they were when you first played them.
I feel like my 20 games are pretty top notch. Mine's: Animal Crossing, Baten Kaitos: Origins, Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex, Dark Summit, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harvest Moon: Magical Melody, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, The Lord of the Onion Rings: The Two Towers, Lost Kingdoms, Lost Kingdoms II, Madagascar, Spongebob Squarepants: Revenge of the Flying Dutchman, Spyro: A Hero's Tail, Super Smash Bros.: Melee, Tony Hawk's Underground, Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2: Bush Rescue, and Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 3: Night of the Quinkan. Sold off Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance with some regret. But I didn't play it very often, and it's a very pricey game. I have a few PS2 games I'd like to replace with GameCube copies, but when I find PS2 games at $3-$5, I nab em up even if there's a GameCube version cuz prices on the GameCube versions is usually $20+ a game. But the list of games I eventually want to get GameCube versions of is: Avatar: The Last Airbender, BloodRayne, Dead to Rights, Medal of Honor: Rising Sun, Mega Man: Anniversary Collection, Need for Speed: Underground, Need for Speed: Underground 2, Nicktoons Unite!, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Scooby-Doo!: Night of 100 Frights, The Simpsons: Road Rage, The Sims, The Sims 2: Pets, Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly, and Ty the Tasmanian Tiger. But nice collection! You're miles ahead of me. Gamecube is just a very expensive console to fund. But I have some bragging rights that somehow, none of my games are player's choice, even though all are from my childhood or just thrift store and pawn shop finds. Also 12/20 are CIB, so pretty good chunk of manuals.
admittedly I did not get a gamecube until after the wii was released, but I played ty the tasmanien tiger 2 bush rescue and spyro a hero's tail almost to death on ps2. the spyro game was my first in the franchise, but after playing it I'm unable to go back further and play older ones. ty 2 is semi open world with boomerangs that are both used for fights as well as in the platforming. the world is beautiful, there are racing minigames, different mechs to help you out in certain areas and the order of the boomerangs you get is completely optional, you have access to the tier 1s almost from the get-go and some are cheaper than others, but all of them are useful. spyro is also open world with 4 worlds to explore which all have their own themes and also sub-areas. it's not exactly challenging for someone who is good at 3d platformers, but I had quite a few problems getting through both of these games, but they're still fun for me to play today and I have both on my shelf, spyro for ps2 and ty 2 for gamecube
This was my collection when I was little, then my mom made me sell them all ;-; but the thing is, ima huge collector now and I sold them when I was like 9.
I got a four Zelda games bonus with my Windwaker on release date in Canada... contains The Legend of Zelda, The Adventure of Link, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask.
Very excellent collection of Amazing Gamecube games. So, many great titles. Always enjoy every video. Especially, the hidden Gems and one of my favorites of all time is the video with you n your wife wearing Heavy metal wigs n going through great metal albums many from the 80's \ m / Have an awesome weekend
@MetalJesusRocks, you've GOT to play Sonic Adventure 2 Battle! It's one of my all time favorites. For *must play* games you should add, I recommend Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, TimeSplitters 2, Beyond Good and Evil, Simpsons Hit & Run, the Super Monkey Ball games, Gauntlet: Dark Legacy, and Star Wars Bounty Hunter. Each is a solid 8/10 or higher.
My fiance gave me his entire GameCube games collection (he did not have that many). I freaking love Eternal Darkness! It's easily my favorite GC game, and I have a weird habit of playing through it not long after finishing Luigi's Mansion
If you have no idea what Sonic Adventure 2 Battle is you are missing out on one of the best Sonic games ever made and the Chao simulator was life to me.
Let's see, games you should definitely add: Super Smash Bros. Melee, Metal Arms: A Glitch in the System, Zelda Four Swords Adventure, Lost Kingdoms (1&2, mostly 2), Mega Man X: Command Mission (a Mega Man RPG!!!), Mega Man Network Transmission, Start Fox Assault, Tales of Symphonia, Baten Kaitos Origins, Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness. Other than that, you've got some great games!
Sonic adventure 2 is definitely a game worth checking out, the game and the Chao garden have taken thousands of hrs of my life and it was worth it. Definitely check it out
If you can find them here are a few games I would recommend playing on the Gamecube that are not on this video - Star Wars Bounty Hunter, Star Wars Jedi Outcast, X-men Legends 2, The Hobbit ( not based on the Peter Jackson movie ) Hitman 2, Robotech Battlecry, Pokemon XD.
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle is basically just an updated port of Sonic Adventure 2 for the Dreamcast with some extra added features, kinda like the Sonic Adventure Directors Cut, slightly better graphics and all that. Take a shot everytime you hear "Hidden Gem"... I'M DRUNK!!! XD
Super Monkey Ball 1 and 2 are great games for the GameCube. Basically marble madness but with a monkey in a ball..lol..There's also a lot of fun mini games like bowling, racing, baseball and tennis..I think those games are definitely up your ally.
Hi Metal Jesus, greetings from Spain. I think you should add to your collection these games: -Baten Kaitos Origins -Super Smash Bros Melee -Pokémon Colosseum -Pokémon XD Gale of Darkness -Donkey Konga 2 -1080º Avalanche -Star Wars Jedi Academy 2: Jedi Outcast -Sonic Adventure DX Director's Cut -StarFox Assault Also there are some other... weird games like the card based RPGs (The Lost Kingdoms and its sequel Lost Kingdoms 2, and Phantasy Star Online 3 CARD Revolution). In my personal preference, I also like Need for Speed Underground 1 and 2; Conflict Desert Storm 2 and Ghost Recon 2 for the GameCube; Beyond Good and Evil and Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg. There are some Need for Speed titles too, just I don't remember their names. Also the "father" of the Batman Asylum series, in terms of several mechanics (gliding and such), is Batman Vengeance, an underrated title, you can buy it for GameCube too. Taking into account you're american I'm surprised you don't have sport titles. I thought NFL, NHL and WWE titles were well received in the States. Here in Spain and in Western Europe, soccer games are one of the best selling games. Today the FIFA series for GameCube, Xbox and PS2 are usually well represented in the retrogaming shops. Good video as always and hope you can improve your GC collection even further.
The reason fire emblem path of radiance is so expensive is because the series wasn’t popular in the US until Fire Emblem Awakening and once it popularized the series a high demand for the other games that didn’t sell well and had limited press due to it caused the price to skyrocket
You should definitely put some more time into Sonic Adventure Battle 2! It's a really fun game in my opinion! You should also look into Ribbit King for your collection! It's a frog golfing game with a very enjoyable and interesting plot line! Great to play alone or with friends! Overall very cool Gamecube collection here!
Ik this video is old but would definitely recommend you pick up Super Mario Strikers. Probably one of the best Mario sports games ever made, and the music was so badass.
Man i loved the gamecube I regret ever trading it in all those years ago. I still play my gamecube games on my Nintendo Wii but i am planning on purchasing another gamecube so many fun games on it.
so far I have 206 games for mine, going for a complete PAL collection it's my favourite console of all time so many great memories back when gaming was great!
