These tutorials are Gold but with this one I ran into a couple of issues: 1)- Nintendont didn't save the edited settings as shown in the vide. 2)- I had issues launching the GC games from USBLoaderGX even tho I closely followed the instructions step by step (spoiler: it was because of that). So, the fixes that worked for me: 1)- if Nintendont doesnt save the setting once you edit them in the menu --> After changing the settings do not exit Nintendont! You must select a GC game without exiting Nintendont (so from it's menu), open it and start playing. Play a few minutes of it and then you can exit. If you go and check on the settings, they should not have reverted back to default. If they are back to default, just repeat the process, maybe increase the playtime. After a while it should save the new settings. If you just follow the video (12:01) the edited settings will revert back as soon as you exit Nintendont, apparently it's an issue (or feature?) that goes back a long time. 2)- if UsbloaderGX crashed after loading GC game from Nintendont --> go back into in "Loader Setting" (in the "Gamecube setting" section) and set the "Progressive Patch" to OFF, not ON (14:46). At least this is what solved it for me, if you are having a similar issue give it a try.
@@lorenzor7993 Sorry to hear about that, I can try but I'll need more info, without a detailed account of your exact situation I'm even more in the dark than you are. ▪︎ Did you follow step by step this guide withoud deviating from it (I need to know if we are on the same page) ? ▪︎ Have you tried running a bunch of different GC games from USBLoader or just one? It's a big maybe but there's a slim chance that one specific game is corrupted. If, instead, you tried with multiple GC games and all crashed, we can cross out that possibility. ▪︎ Do the GC games work if you run them from Nintendont ? Access Nintendont and try to play the games from there, no USBLoader involved. if they play fine that means that the issue is between USBloaderGX and Nintendont (best case scenario). Otherwise, if the games crash / won't start even when launched just from Nintendont, well that could be caused by a number of things.
I did everything you said, but it still does not work. All my settings with the video are the same. I can play and safe GC games from Nintendont. I have tried multiple GC games through USB Loader and they don’t work. The problem has to be with USB Loaders. Do you think I should put Mem Emulation to “on” instead of “individual”?
Now when I start up the games through USB loader, it first pop up the Nintendont screen after that the screen goes pitch black, but when I start up directly throug Nintendont, zero problems.
@@lorenzor7993Yeah, it seems the issue is with USBLoaderGX ▪︎Are you using a USB drive, a USB stick or an SD Card? I've read that, for many people, similar issues were related to the kind of storage unit they were using. Some fixed it by switching from an HDD or SSD to a flash drive, others the exact opposite. I can't verify those claims as I've only ever used an SD card but it's worth keeping in mind that it may have something to do with the support you're using. Back to USBLoaderGX setting... ▪︎You can try going in the USBLoader settings, find the Custom Paths section, scroll down and check that all the relavant paths are correct, SAME exact name as your folders, no Capital letters where there shouldn't be. Set these Paths manually (by clicking on them and navigating your folders), even if they appear correct on the preview: - Homebrew Apps Path > sd:/apps/ - Main GameCibe Path > sd:/games/ - SD GameCube Path > sd:/games/ - Nintendont Loader Path > sd:/apps/Nintendont/ I use an SD Card but if you are using a USB Device I think it will be mostly the same, probably instead of the prefix "sd:" there will be a "usb:" or something similar. You can also try to: ▪︎ Turn off nintendont auto boot in USBloader gx settings. ▪︎ Change "Video Mode" in USBloader gx settings, try to select the other 2 options (force NTSC or force PAL) ▪︎ Reinstall the cIOS (but if you followed BytesNBits tutorials this should not be the issue).
This is working for me perfect when launching from Nintendont, but if I try to launch the games from GXLoader it freezes, if I try to exit GXLoader I also get a black screen, I have also noticed that any software I launch via gxloader it freezes. Any recommendations here? I went through the vid multiple times to ensure I have the correct settings.
I'd check your cIOS installations to make sure they are all installed correctly. My ModMii video is probably the best one to look at. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8RdwHT3C16E.html
11:45 im having trouble with Memcard Emulation staying on, whenever I leave Nintendont it switches back to off, simply won’t save. Also The games load but I can’t save because It says I have no memory card inserted. I have to open my games from Nintendont and won’t open from USBloaderGX and don’t know how to fix this. Pls help…
That's a strange one. I think Nintendont tries to save its settings files into the apps folder where the code files are stored. Make sure this is writable. Try changing the setting and exiting fully out of Nintendont and Home brew before playing any games. See if that saves it. Not sure what else to try.
I'm was having a similar problem. I decided just to run gamecube games from nintendont because although wii games work fine when running gamecube games from usbloader my wii disconnects from the tv entirely. Running through nintendont worked fine, but memcard emulation turned off whenever I exited nintendont. I accidentally fixed the memcard emulation problem when I turned memcard emulation on, then ran a game up to a save point before exiting nintendont. (now memcard emulation stays on but i still cant run from usbloader)@@BytesNBits
On your sd card there is a folder called bootmii, you can rename this folder to something else (don't delete it in case you need to use BootMii in the future). Or inside that folder there is a file called bootmii.ini. You can edit that file with notepad or similar, you just add the following linea to the end of the file. AUTOBOOT=SYSMENU
Just one question Bob: on my Wii, both of the USB ports on the back are taken up by the hard drive, I'm assuming one for data, one for extra power. Are you using a USB hub if you're connecting USB controllers then? 🤔
If you're using the same sort of SATA converter as me it should run on just the USB3 cable - that's how I've got mine connected. Otherwise, yes, a USB hub should work. Having said that I found my wired XBox controller unreliable and bought a second hand Classic Controller. It plugs into the Wii handset so gives you a wireless controller that works with everything. Only about £15 on eBay.
@@BytesNBits yeah I have one of those, but I'm thinking maybe an actual wired GameCube controller would be better, easier than the faff of setting up the sensor etc. and are known to work in the Wii 👍🏼
Hi. I did everything correctly but my GameCube backups either freezes or turns off my Wii console. Im using a USB to load the GameCube games via USB Loader GX.
@@jacksonezzell6491 The video output issue I also had on the GC games and also when it freezes. Set the mem emulation to 56blocks on Nintendont and USB Loader Gx in Settings. Progressive Patch disables the video output so make sure that is set to off. GC memory cards are 4MB in size( 56 blocks). This worked out for me. Also make sure your games are set correctly and it it's in correct folders.
Make sure you've got the GameCube games check box ticked in the display settings in USBLoaderGX. It's on one of the menu buttons at the top of the screen.
If you can't get your Wii to connect to your WiFi you can download the covers using the backup manager app on your PC. If you search you'll find some instructions on how to do it. This will download the covers to your USB drive so USBLoader can use them.
I found a problem, i did it in my own way before watching this video, making lots of partitions for my SSD cause i didnt know it was sort of possible to have a huge FAT32 drive, the NINTENDONT seems to not recognize the usb drive, i have no problems with the wii games, but i cant play the GCN games, seems like i need to delete the partitions that i dont use..
Hello just wanted to say so far it’s working I got the games but while in the pc on the GCBM it only shows my Mario kart double dash game and not the others, the games r all unzipped just like Mario kart double dash too
You need Nintendont if you want to play your games from your backup files on the USB or SD card. You can still put disks in the console and play as normal.
Not working. Black screen appears after booting the game from Nintendont app. If I choose memory cards emulation this are getting even worse and wii turns off after booting the game. I updated all cios according to your guide.
Have a try with the cIOS setup in this video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8RdwHT3C16E.html. The first hack video I made uses a bare essentials approach to the setup.
@@BytesNBits problem was in my HDD. Wii games works perfectly, but GameCube not. I don't know what's problem with the HDD,.but I just used my old slow usb flash and it works good for now. If someone has similar problems, with black screen after booting games or crashing the console, just try another hdd/flash drive/sd card. I searched a lot of info yesterday and wasted 6 hours of trying to solve the problem with cios, region versions of games, video settings, but the problem was just in this stupid hdd... I hope this comment will help someone.
My wii is finding the games.. But they won't start properly. Some restart the wii.. Some freeze. Error Check for multi game and region failed also. Could it be that my folders name does not have the game id in it?
You can play a lot of the games with the Wii controller but some will need either a classic controller or a GameCube controller. I bought a second hand classic controller that plugs into the WiiMote. That works great.
I've got a video on general emulation coming out next week. It shows where to get the emulators and I install the SNES as a demo of the process. Have Fun!
@@andrewferguson7762 I have Atari 2600, 5200 and 7800 and Colecovision on my Wii and it's great. I also have N64 but it's too slow since no one has any clue how to properly emulate the N64 so all the emulators are not optimized / rubbish which means it requires at least 8th Gen i7/i9 to get full speed.
Wii games run fine but GameCube games won’t run. When in usb loader I start the game and It puts me back in nintendont saying initializing memory card and nothing happens. I’m assuming something is going wrong with the memory card emulation because if I open nintedont and play the game from there it lets me but I get a message saying I have no memory card. How do I fix this? I’ve tried looking for some answers but I haven’t found one yet. Thanks for your videos! They were great very detailed loved it!
When i ho to play GameCube on my wii the game loads but then the wiimote turns off so cant get into the game. How do i fix? Have nintendont and usb loader gx. Games appear and can scroll through them but as soon as i click on a game the blue light on the wiimote goes oit and i csnt nsvigste or select anything on screen.
Try plugging in a nunchuck to see if that helps. If not I think there are some settings in Nintendont to get it to ignore the controller type. Look for adaptive control or something similar.
@@BytesNBits I connected classic controller and same thing happens, when you click on the GameCube games the blue light on the Wii controller goes off and no buttons work so can't enter the game. I'll try numchuk next
@@tonygilchrist8156 That's a strange one. I use a classic controller which should work fine. Is your WiiMote an original or a third party version? Does it work OK with USBLoader Wii games.
it resets my wii, the console it self is on, the green light beside the power button is there. but my contorller turns off and the tv says "No Signal". i have to manually unplug my wii to turn it off
Is Homebrew still working OK? Did you load the files onto the same sd card as the rest of the homebrew stuff? Make sure you've extracted the correct files and put them in the correct folders on the SD card. Hope you get it working.
i did this and it worked but capcom vs snk 2 crashes sometimes. I seen other people had the same issue but i couldn't find a solution. Must be my wii or my rom. Anyways it worked with capcom vs snk but when i tried loading up melee or double dash its just a black screen. I did everything that i did when doing this with cvs2 but i dont know what i did wrong. i cant find out why it doesnt load.
I don't know about these specific games but there will always be some that the system has trouble running. The usual fixes are to check you've got all the cIOS updates installed and have a play with some of the game settings.
In Nintendont you need to set the location of your files so it knows where to look. Also make sure that you've got the USB drive plugged into the right port (see the video). Only one usb port can be used.
Ah that explains why it wasn't working for me, my files were not named correctly. gcbm to the rescue hehe! But got another issue. When I run GCBM and let it download the database it crashes with an error 'Central Directory Corrupt'. If you look up this error it only points to some Visual Studio issues being reported on github but no solution and no one seems to have a clue what the error means or how to fix it. Seems it's a specific PC thing and works if run on another PC. In my case it appears only the downloading is not working so I searched and found the db file online and re-ran gcbm and it got past the issue and renames and moves my gc files. Playing some GC now on my Wii :-)
Hello, how can I play NFS most wanted on Nintendont? I mean, I tried to play the Europe version but after selecting the 60hz mode It just stays on a black screen and from there you just have to restart the console. I hope someone read this and reply a solution, thanks.
I had a game that did the same. I found the 480p fix setting in the USBLoader settings fixed the issue. I either had to turn it on or off. Hope this helps.
hey bob quick question here i have a external hard drive for all my wii and gamecube games but there is a few wii games i want that are over 4GB so would it still work if i format the drive in exFAT instead of FAT32 ?
i followed your guide and now there's nothing in my homebrew channel??? and even though i put all the games on my hard drive not all of them are showing up in nintendont any idea why???
Make sure you've got all the files in the correct folder with all the correct names. Also make sure the USBLoader and Nintendont are looking on the right drives.
Everything is in the right folders the games for the game cube are in a different drive I had partitioned my hard drive a long time ago and couldn't access the side with my Wii games
It sounds like it's not recognising the files as GameCube ISO files. I'd try downloading a file from somewhere else and checking if it can see that. Make sure you're downloading an iso or ciso file. Hope this helps.
I followed along on this video and other videos as well. I am running into two issues when trying to play game cube games. 1) When I run the game directly in Nintendont the game will load and get to the “select start” screen. I am using the classic wii controller and when I get to that screen nothing on the controller works and the 4 blue dots at the bottom are all lit up and nothing works. I am then forced to turn off the Wii. Do you have to have a usb controller/game cube controller in order to play these games? Or can you use the classic wii remote still? 2) I have the games in the USBloadergx. Then I select the game I want to play and all of a sudden after I click start my screen turns blue and says no signal. However I can hear the game running in the background. I have a hdmi adapter plugged in and my usb drive. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot these?
UPDATE: I got it to work just needed to plug in the nunchucks to the controller. However still having issues with #2. GC game works perfect in Nintendont but when i go over to USB Loader gx and try running the GC game screen turns off and says no signal but can hear the game running in background. Not sure how to stop this from happening???
There are a couple of settings in USBLoader for the video output. One is to do with the 480p fixes, some will be to do with the Nintendont setup. I'd try having a play around with those. It sounds very much like an incompatible HDMI output being triggered by USBLoader. Hope you get it working.
I fixed it. I did some research and found some github pages from people who had the same problem. Turns out there was a hidden file extension so nintendont was trying to read “game.iso.iso”. So just having it as “game” worked for me. The same thing applies if you skip the backup manager part, just name the file you got from nKit -> Processed as “game”. The video was a huge help and I would not have gotten as far as I did without it. For other people reading, I would recommend getting the backup manager anyway, as my memory card was third party and I’ve had some problems with corruption/losing my whole custom robo save; the card also caused the issue with being stuck on “Loading IOS58 Kernel”. If this happens, try taking it out before loading nintendont and then put it in when the game asks for it. If you’re curious: if you have it in booting up nintendont, it will get stuck but then if you take it out it will load, but when I did this the game wouldn’t load so just leave it out until the game asks for it. Also recommend typing your specific problem in the internet for this kind of stuff or making github/reddit/discord post, in that order.
Hi. I’ve been trying to convert the GC Rom’s from nkit to iso all day, but I’m extremely green in this sort of stuff. Is there anyway I can be do this step-by-step? Thank you.
@@BytesNBits Hi this video was very helpful. I tried pressing the home button on my wiimote and nothing happens. All four lights are blue as well. Do you know how to fix this? Thanks.
I cant Nintendont to run on usb loader gx the games appear and i followed the steps they just wont load i think its to do with the paths but i might be wrong can you help
Make sure you use the Gamecube backup manager to copy the game files to the usb drive. This should get everything set up correctly for you. Also make sure that Nintendont can see the games on the drive and play them without USBLoader. If that's all OK check the Nintendont settings in USBLoader to make sure it's talking correctly to Nintendont.
Hi there, thanks for the guides. I was able to successfully put wii games onto my wii with USBLoaderGX, but when I try to boot up games with nintendont, none of the games appear. They also dont appear in usb loader gx. Any tips?
Did you use the GameCube backup manager to copy over the game files, They need to be in a specific format. Make sure you tell Nintendont what drive the games folder is on. Hope this helps.
Try making sure you've installed the apps from the initial setup video - cIOS etc. You might have to lay with the Wii screen setup. I run mine at 480p over the HDMI converter.
Yup mine too turns black and then says no signal if i load from the usbloadergx. But if i load from nintendont it works fine. I wanted the main dashboard launch.
@@mr.spooks424 yes. I did find the problem. As my console is european PAL. So i downloaded the European Games and it worked fine. Takes a lil time to load. Dont know if this was the actual problem. Although other region games also work but not from the Wii dashboard. But from the nintendont app.
Did you follow through the USBLoader setup? If Nintendont is working USBLoader should be able to start games. Are the games showing up in USBLoader? If not make sure they are turned on the the USBLoader settings.
Hi thanks for the tutorial im watching it rn ive been having trouble with nintendont to work and loading games from my sd card, (cause i dont have a usb loader for the sd, and the wrong files but whats the link for GCBM for mac? thank u for ur help
It allows you to play "backup files of your own games". Right. That's what people are doing. Not downloading them from the Internet. They've backed them all up themselves from their own personal collections for their own personal use.
The reason we all explain the legal route is that RU-vid gets angry if we encourage people to download copyrighted software. When they get angry they ban your channel. I myself got an official warning for just showing people where to get the software, so it is a real threat.
why are you so pressed? Nintendo is the most anti-consumer corporation on the planet and people hardly sell these old consoles and games at a reasonable price. so yeah i think ill go with piracy!!
And where to do u expect to get these 20 year old games legally from Nintendo pal?😂 Cuz they sure don't sell melee anymore and ppl don't wanna buy $70 used games from a scalper.
