If gamefreak actually cleaned up the animations starting from Let's Go, people wouldn't give them as much shit as they get now. Blastoise looks so amazing now and he doesn't need a gimmick to pull it off anymore.
for sure, see with sv i can actually understand dexit because though the environments and such lack a ton of polish a lot of the pokemon look the best they ever have(to the point where i even started to have a better opinion on some mons that were always made to look flat and plasticy before like the squirrel mon for example) in mainline and have much more distinct animations that would be improbable to implement for freaking 1000+ mons at this point
@@PyrobaconstudiosYup if they had Stadium quality animations and more unique animations for specific moves such as Blastoise’s Hydro Cannon starting from Sword and Shield, there would be so much more leeway. If everyone got like a Pyro Ball, Snipe Shot or Drum Beating animation for a few moves, the time and effort would warrant a dexit. Its a shame that they couldn’t just be honest. Gen 5 did a Dexit too… well a mini Dexit and they advertised it as such. No excuses that turned out to be false. Just wish these games were given the time and attention they deserved instead of being slot into a merchandise schedule that is killer for any dev team.
Everyone at Gamefreak works hard... honestly, considering how fast the games come out, it's actually pretty good... If they just fixed all of the bugs and crash issues, this would have probably have been the favorite game in the series...
@@TheDeathmailthis is what I always tried to say. Gamefreak team is talented and very much overworked. It’s the company that should be put to question.
They fixed all 3 of the kanto starters. Charizard has a more intimidation and they reworked his wings as well as battle stance, Blastoise also has the intimidation factor as we have all seen as well as the texture rework and some animation. Venusaur now has a more dominating presence as well as some really cool new animations via Power Whip
Tbh, they fixed pretty much most of all the Pokémon. Since Legends, they decided to make new models and make unique animations for both in and out of battle. No more will Pokémon awkwardly stand around without any sort of intensity
@@cold-bloodedbeats4139 yup, the pokemons even look at each other in battles, like if a pokemon is on ground but the opponent pokemon is flying, the one on ground will look upward at the flying opponent
@@gladoseon4117 If they were going to make new models from scratch, then they should actually have taken the time to do so back when they said that they had done so for gen 8. Creatures Inc did a good job updating them tho.
I doubt we're going to see much improvement in quality if we're still using the Switch. Unless the Xenoblade team hops on board. Whatever engine GameFreak was cooking, the switch is too dated for it
Literally every Pokémon got a complete redesign and a whole new updated model for the first time in over a decade in this game and it’s astounding. I think that’s more than indicative of quality. Yes the overworld looks terrible and the game is buggy but when it came to the actual Pokémon, Scarlet and Violet did not disappoint.
@@kyotanaka920I doubt that the next Pokemon game will be on the Switch, at least not exclusively. All the signs point to a new Nintendo console in 2024. Also, I wouldn't say that the Switch was dated for Gamefreak's engine, or that the engine is bad. We haven't yet seen what that engine is capable of if given enough time to actually optimize the game.
For the first time in what feels like a decade, Blastoise finally uses his shoulder cannons. Thank you GF, unironically thank you. Now if you could not burn away that good will immediately on the next game's release that'd be ideal. SV is unquestionably in a better state right now, but the launch issues were real.
They literally redid every single 3D model in this game from its release but not many people seem to have noticed. Every Pokémon with fur has actual hair and fur texture. Scaly Pokémon have actual scale patterns. Pokémon eyes are intricately drawn. Metallic Pokémon look like they’re made of metal and are reflective. All of the previously permanently hovering flying types are now on the ground. Most Pokémon have been given battle-ready stances that make them look intimidating and less lifeless. Water types have a sheen to them that makes it look as if they just got out of the water. They fixed so many individual issues like Blastoise’s cannons and Typhlosion’s fire. So many thanks need to be given to the team at Creatures Inc. for making Pokémon models look the best they have since generation 5.
Better textures were added to all pokémon, and SOME pokémon had their 3D models updated, changed battle stances and animations, but don't go kissing the ground Gamefreak walks on. Anything positive made in this game is likely to not return in the next game they make, given their history recently has always been: one step forward, two steps back. Delphox lost its stick-wand animation, Decidueye is no longer an archer, Chesnaught no longer creates a shield with its arms, among other details omitted from previous games. Don't mis-understand what I'm saying: praise where it is deserved, but don't forget or be afraid to criticize on the lack of quality and foul business practices we've been getting of late these past games with mechanics being removed then later sold as DLC, pokémon still very rarely leaving their starting positions to attack in battle (something that even Close Combat lost on the jump to Switch), etc. There is SO MUCH potential for the Pokémon games, but a lot of the time, due to corporate greed, not giving enough time for the games to be worked on, and a company too afraid to make bigger changes, we still have these mostly lifeless battles that may or may not improve the next time they release a rushed product at full Triple A price.
@@StoicForce You should read his comment properly. He never said anything about GF, he praised Creatures. They're the ones who make the actual Pokemon models
Agreed, would help it's defensive profile even more with all the extra resistances, also having another stab for flash cannon to take out fairies would be nice.
i feel like adding steel would ruin the weakness triangle of the kanto starters. Unlike Sinnoh where Torterra gains ground to counter Empoleon's steel, Venusaur has nothing and even gets its poison type hard countered by steel.
This is beautiful. My day is 10x better after having seen this. Now in the next games they’re going to make hydro pump come out of his eyes or something
Take it this way, Gamefreak has been reusing the same models for 10 years. They *will* copy & paste updated models and animations to shave off development time.
I hope they did starmie too or will do it. I miss when both stars spun and how for both forms using surf, you hold onto it as it pulls you. Like how misty used one in the original anime.
I agree. Everytime they make a new amazing change, they remove it in the next game and somehow make it worse. Which is why I'm on the strong opinion that the last 2 good games were XY and LGPE
@@rosebrigade As much gruel those games got for being too easy or kid-like, X&Y's 3D models were fresh and LGPE made those models somehow pop out again. S/M+ recycled models until Sw/Sh when Pokémon announced they were updating the models, which fans quickly discovered was actually a slight change in poly count for *some* models. The DLC looks pretty bad with PS2-esque landscapes, but at least they future proofed themselves... Again...
@@scrittle Not even just that but Every title after LGPE for some reason no longer can have all mons, which basically means even if you have every Pokémon in your Pokebank, you can't use all of them on SwSh, SM or SV. Yep. Somehow they "can't" have every mon on the games now despite being on a system that isn't limited by capacity as much as past games. Pokémon gets progressively worse as time goes on.
@@Raikooo yeah this is what annoys me, when people are like "the devs don't care" but there's so many things like this that show YES THEY DO they just are given insane deadlines for the product
Best version of Blastoise in my opinion. And all they did was a little touch up. It's gotta be the arms. Bc every design has his arms straight out and in this one they're more lowered, longer, they're bent at the elbow more and the claws are more emphasized. Cannons are bigger too. It's just beautiful
Maybe it's just me ... but does Squirtle's newly textured shell remind anybody else of a brioche bun? Or one of those fluffy Japanese pancakes? One of those red bean buns?
I think Gamefreak and Creatures Inc do care about the quality of Pokemon. But the 3rd wheel doesn't. Even some of their website logo is Mario. However, I am quite sure Pokemon generates more money for them thanks to not only the games but also cards, plush, and other merch.
I had to re-check the title on this because I'm not used to Game Freak doing something this great with the models and animations. I expected this to be a mod, lol.
Wartortle is my favorite Pokemon of all time. I never evolve them because I love them so much, so it's nice to see them highlighted in videos every now and then!
This is why when people say the animations in this game are bad, I laugh it off, you cannot tell me that they didn’t work hard on making these really charming animations

Every single water type Pokémon behind blastost when he swimming:AAAAAAAAHHHHH HELP AAAAAHHH IT BURNS WHYYYY
Buddy they have been fucking up since x and y. Don't forget the god awful dex cuts, and the awful visual quality of sword shield and scarlet and violet.
@@williethenerfherder2193 You are forgetting it took game freak 10 -11 years to make Moveable Sprites for "Pokemon Black ,and White games" since Pokemon games started in 1998. You Pokemon fans have been blind for years about that leap. Just blame your self ,for being a blind Pokemon fanboy without looking at the very slow progress "Game Freak" has made up to "Gen 5 Pokemon Black and White" games that took 10-11 to years to make movable sprites for a 2d Pokemon game is the biggest loop hole Pokemon fans have never noticed. Game Freak were always very slow learners when it came to game design.
I'm more amazed that they actually let him fire from his shoulder cannons. Normally i dont use previous gen pokemon on my playthrough of a new gen, but i might just have a Blastoise on my squad just for the water cannons
I bet 4-5 years from now on, everyone will be saying how great of a game scarlet violet was. Just like they did after pokemon black & white. People forget when released majority kinda hated B&W.
Dang that’s honestly good stuff. Now if they’d make any changes to the fundamental pacing issues with the animation battle flow itself and I might be won over.
Wow. Seeing this finally makes me feel like Blastoise embodies the tank, or rather submarine of a Pokémon it was made to be. The water animation genuinely makes me feel like I’m fighting a Cruiser, not a Pokémon
This is probably gonna be a hot take, but videos like this just make me miss the DS/3DS era of Pokemon games, I stopped playing at Shield because I honestly thought it was an average game, and since then haven't been into the franchise, but it just makes me wanna replay the old era tbh
Best thing is, this fix comes a bit after the fix in Unite to make Wartortle evolve a tlevel 7, and the inclusion of a new held item, that makes Blastoise be one of the best defenders again there.
