@@GameBoyyearsago , Since we are on the subject. If they wanted to target beginners and more advanced devs at the same time. They could make it so we can make typical 80's style games, like space invaders and Bomber Man. The kinda stuff that's not really worth coding from scratch. Then they might attract a wider audience. Glad you are covering it again. I think people need to realize that making it simple for enthusiast developers is not an easy task. Unreal and Unity or other platforms are unlimited with their potential but be prepared to lay at least 5 to 10 years of your life to make something significant, not to mention 1 person making a game is nearly impossible in those ( unless it is a passion project and not next best seller ) too much negative reviews drive off people who are interested in some quick creative way of making something fun without strings attached. Not everything has to be made for professionals first and enthusiasts later. That is not to defend by saying you can make the next Crysis with this, it just means that you can do a fun project that might be worth money without spending dozen years on it. The basics are there and graphics are decent. Overall always depends on people's choice so cannot judge those who think it is not worth same as those who praise it a bit too much. It is simply decent enough on its own for certain FPS types of games. Thanks again for the vid. ; )
@daveface69
@daveface69 Год назад
The assertion that solo development in Unity or Unreal is nearly impossible is silly, and I don't think this really makes a case for this tool. If you just want to do a fun project without worrying about working at the game engine level, why wouldn't you just use Fornite creative, or Garry's Mod, or any number of other modding tools to make something? This only makes sense if you then wanted to release the final product commercially, and I don't think this is really suitable for that.
@GameBoyyearsago

@@daveface69 bro atleast give gameguru a chance to improvement, not everythings have to be super realistic and professionnals : )
@daveface69
@daveface69 Год назад
@@GameBoyyearsago It doesn't have to be 'super realistic' or 'professional' - RPG Maker has it's niche, and works well for it. But who is this for? If you don't want to get into code / technical development, then modding and creative tools are much better suited. They'll be aesthetically coherent and give you an audience for your work. It could improve, obviously, I'm just commenting on where it's at now.
@GameBoyyearsago
@GameBoyyearsago Год назад
@@daveface69 in past game guru suffers a lot because of numbers of terrible decesions, and im still learning coding, until then, i can learn and have fun and basic level of understandment in game guru. GameGuru has a lot of bad rep because of the OG GameGuru unfortunately. MAX is far better from what I've seen, and I hope we see more people showing off the cool stuff you can make in the engine. I also disagree with what Mike said in the video, since you have Lua scripting, it's way more flexible and you could totally make a unique game with MAX that you could sell. If people have pulled it off with RPG Maker and the OG GameGuru you could totally do that in MAX too.

Theres no right or wrong when it comes to engines, only advantages and disadvantages. FPSC Black Ice and GG are good starting points to get you comfortable with game dev and to build that confidence up. But once youve evolved more as a game developer, thats when you should move onto other engines that are more flexible and powerful.

Yeah, I guess I can see what the comments are saying. Like they all say below it seems to be for selling DLC because GAmes From Scratch does never even nearly show an actual produced game from this, and especially NOT with characters on scene. So it's a Clone game producer I suppose- is that it? Also- how much did developers Venmo to GaFrSc for to put this videos on here? Yeah.... that's the end right there==== $180 for all the DLC and you can't make it do without bugs either. Fortnite Creative 2.0 is free-- MantiCORE is free--and all those other Sooo many more.

I don't really understand who this is aimed at. The graphics in that sample look like something from 2008, at best - with the right assets maybe you could push it further, but that seems besides the point of an 'easy to use' engine like this with it's own marketplace. Then, as soon as you have write lua to create anything other than their stock game types, you may as well be using a real game engine. So, maybe this would be a good sandbox tool for kids / teenagers? That would make sense, except their Steam page says: "GameGuru MAX [...] provide[s] an easy to use, off the shelf solution to quality, commercial game development"

Don’t forget that nothing worth doing is ever easy. GameGuru is a good learning tool, not a game engine. $80 for this is fraud. That is a deluxe AAA game price for two sticks and a rock. You should realistically use the knowledge you gain from GameGuru to go on to other engines like Unreal or Unity once you're more comfortable with game dev. Proper game dev on GameGuru is actively discouraged by its devs. So if you release a game using it, you will be witch hunted into silence by Lee's 40 alts. In other words, stick to GameGuru Classic, or even FPSC Black Ice, since they are much better and cheaper tools to learn game dev. Classic is usually $5 with 5 DLCs duck taped to it and Black Ice is free.

Another garbage engine that no one needs. No disrespect to the team, but who is this stuff aimed at? it solves zero problems and the graphics look like something from the 1930s. Also It is much easier to use free unreal and unity assets together and make a game that would look decent
@honaleri
@honaleri Год назад
Computer graphics where not even a thing in the 1930s. Any computer that did exist, was a topic secret government project, and had no screen interface. Or even a keyboard. That hyperbole went too far, even for me. I mean, engines like this typically exist for pure hobbyists, that, never want or need to learn real game developement, but still want to make a game with an all in one solution. Not to say many people exist like that, but the ones that do, will buy this, and probably never use it much, because people at that "ultra" low effort interest level, still won't learn this. But regardless, I mean, Godot, Unity, even Unreal to much lesser degree, all would theoretically be better if your goal was just to make a game, cause they are free, robust and have so much community support, ect. But, they ALL require a steep learning curve, for some...too steep. So they like low-code/no-code, drag and drop stuff to play around with, instead of learning anything. Lesser effort, lesser result. But some people want this. Not me though. I'm still burnt from GameGuru Classic.
