I have to give mazda credit the miata is one of the few cars where they actually have the front brake capliers in the right place, behind the axle not in front like alot of cars at this price point.
If you look all Miatas, but especially the NC and ND, you'll see the engine behind the front axle. Of course, that effects the passenger footwell some, but too bad for the passenger ;)
I was actually excited for this one. I was previously interested in getting an ST and am now shopping a new ‘19 ND soft top club. What a waste of a potentially great comparison for the sake of advertising some shitty two-ways. Shame.
This ST looks exactly like mine, though mine's usually cleaner. I've made a few tweaks. Intake, mild tune, short shifter and rear motor mount. It's a riot. I can put 4 adults in it, if I have to, and I average a bit over 30 mpg. A great combination of cheap, practical, reliable and fun.
We are using Paul but he’s taken both of these cars around the track already for hot or not. No need to do it again. That’s why this is a gameshow and not a review as Roman says in the video.
The Fiesta ST is still a great hot hatchback, and if it makes you happy when you drive it, you should keep it. Miata is a really fun weekend car, but as an only car it does have some practical limitations.
Fun video guys! I wonder how much faster they would be were I live... The Netherlands because we're lower than sea level. Greetings from one of your dutch fans.
Not a bad garage to have one of each . The fiesta to daily to work , its fun to drive and front wheel drive helps a bit in the snow . Good gas mileage. The new 2019 MX-5 for the nice fun car . I’m in.
Agree with this, as the speed that are reaching on the track are no where near what would be reached on regular roads. Either that or have a real world loop you have to drive each car, consisting of some interstate driving also.
its a 2014 car with a 1.6 thats been trashed and prolly lost HP(and only makes 182hp, the 197hp is only with overboost in 4th, 5th and 6th gear btw) vs a 2.0 basically brand new car with 181HP, basically the drag is a 1.6 with 170HP vs a 2.0 with 181hp
Does anyone prefer FWD over RWD? I’ve driven both(FD Rx7 and fiesta st.) For getting around FWD is fun and safe, but it’s got nothing on the halariry of RWD.
Derp Wolf me. Only well setup fwd in small cars tho. Got an st and the lift off oversteer is just so much fun and then mashing the gas to pull it straight. On bigger cars awd or rwd but on small ones it just feels right
Guys, you're slipping. It was only my affection for you that made me sit through this entire video. Please, please eliminate the mpg competition from the wheel of destiny. And if you're looking for the best lap time in the Miata, put the top up. Open motoring is meant for enjoying the scenery, not for speed. I'll be back for another in the future but I'll never get back the 12 minutes of my life I spent watching this video. :)
I hope you guys do realize that you could go 1200 RPMs in any gear right? I mean you could slowly ease up to about 45 miles an hour put it in the top gear and just cruise and still get really good gas mileage and it would actually be better gas mileage because you would be traveling faster at 1200 RPMs. You should be getting over 50.
Nope. While it's hard to compare the two, there is consistently less than $2000 difference between 'comparable' models of the MX-5 and the 86. And then there's the MX's higher quality (if tighter) interior. And then the MX beats the 86 in a straight line and on a circuit. And then it's a convertible/fastback. But, yes, you're right: you get a few extra ft2 in your trunk. Have fun with that!
I do not think I would ever meet a Miata fan that would say he or she wants a Ford Fiesta. The Miata has been a great car for 30 years and I do not think the Fiesta could even be any amount of fun. Of course this was meant to be silly I guess.
You have to know that the st has only 180hp in the first 2 gears, and it weights like 2700 pounds, plus is fwd, the miata weight 2330 pounds has 181 hp and is rwd, the st needs at least a light tune and good tires to pull that mx5 from a dig, in a roll it would be a different outcome for the st
S2000 cost 50% more than the Miata at the time. It also only got 25 mpg and weighed 400 lbs more than a Miata. I'm not saying it was bad, it's just different.
All about that weight, one of the factors that made the last RX7's handling so dominating and acceleration so quick despite not having as much hp and torque as most of the hard hitters.
Also Mazda themselves didn't want a ton of horsepower in such a light and compact car. They didn't want to build a super car but a drivers car. Plus they knew people would be dying left and right if they added too much horsepower....lightweight vehicle with a lot of power can be very dangerous to most.
It's always tough when your son finally grows up and whoops on you at the track, isn't it Nathan?!! Poor Fiesta. You might as well stop trying to drag race it. It can't seem to beat any car on the drag race.
You'll are dressed like it was cold. According to the GFS models enjoy the thing of the past later this week! Wish those farmers who were harvesting their cereal crops in Canada could, but those losses are huge, as well as supply.
Not really, just the GFS models were claiming "thing of the past" for your area the last couple of days. Perhaps we could sue Albert Gore Jr and his disconnected group of alarmists, for claiming we will soon not know what snow is. Enjoy the snow....
Just do a 30 roll 🙄 the fiesta has about 80 more ft lb of torque. They are underrated from factory. Lots of vids stock 230 to the wheels. Of course its gonna lose off the line its fwd
He think Miata won the drag race because "super high rpm" lol, high rpm cars are slower because less torque make less average power. Miata won in part for rear wheel drive.
The Fiesta on a tight course is tough to beat. But won't hold up in straight aways. But the main place with the Fiesta ST wins in the smiles per dollar ratio. You can get them for cheap, and they are a blast to drive.
That radio your sponcering is a rebranded 35 dollar Baofeng UV-5R chineese import radio. The FCC has recently listed Baofeng as an illigal radio. The filtering is horrible and you may be interfering with an emergency repeater without realizing it. Furthermore you are suppose to hold a armature radio license to operate that kind of radio. I bet you dont even know what freq your talking on.
@@lifeofmike556 of course the Fiesta ST will take a miata. Ive raced one 3 times last night and beat my about a car length. Must be altitude or something. Or this guy cant drive! Launching fwd needs skill.
Let's look at the numbers, shall we. The 2019 MX-5 has a 0-60 mph time of 5.7 seconds. But what about V8 Corvette 0-60 mph times? 1960 Corvette: 6.5 seconds 1963 Corvette Sting Ray: 5.8 seconds 1970 Corvette 427: 6.0 seconds 1986 Corvette: 5.7 seconds 1992 Corvette LT1: 5.6 seconds
Do you have those big wheels that the center keeps spinning when you stop ? Or are you the tiny wheels and the car jumps up and down as you stand outside of it like a carnival barker . Which is it?
And why shouldn't a "self respecting" man drive an MX-5? The MX-5 is a fantastic tool to carve up tight back roads, and most real auto enthusiasts are aware of this fact.
