I just purchased the X2. It's definitely worth the cash... very responsive. Very easy to install, and the best part about it is the USB passthrough charging. With the S22 Ultra, it feels like you're holding a switch.

I loved my X2 but decided to send it back to Amazon, phone kept overheating playing gamecube/PS2 emulators....I've only got S9 but gonna wait for S23 Ultra & buy either the X3(fan) or by then maybe they'll have released an X3 Pro

I believe the location permissions are a weird way in android to enable the full bluetooth featureset (I posted a link to the android developer infopage but I believe it got autoremoved). So maybe that is the reason. The reasoning behind that is that bluetooth scanning might be used for location tracking.

Indeed the fan is pointless in terms of real portability. No analogue triggers and again, no headphone jack. The replacement D-pad, buttons and caps is a nice touch, as is the case. On top of what are deal breakers out of the box for me though, we then have the ridiculous price. The backbone, new Razer Kishi and this are all coming in at around the same over inflated price point. There is a big hole in the market for somebody to come in with a better device and with more realistic value.

Bluetooth connection belongs to location service (because it can be used to scan Bluetooth becons and determinen your location) but Google in its infinite wisdom makes it so you need to allow full location including GPS which you can not disable. This is super annoying and apps with legit reason to use Bluetooth can abuse the acces to precive location. On newer android you can allow permission for only one time, only when app open, or all the time but that doesn't help "old" android phones (2+ years)

Could you put a thin piece of copper or thermal pad over the hot area reaching over to the fan? Would that act as a really crappy heatsink?

Kailh is pronounced as "kale". Great review. I'm glad I didn't buy it and instead waited for the Backbone Android version. Even the Razer Kishi V2 seems like a better deal.

Hey there I just wanted to know if the thermal plate actually touch the phone? I saw one review/comment from somewhere that says that the plate doesn't touch the phone at all

Hey I figured out the solution thanks to you, since you are using the same s22 Ultra as me i figured out its a Samsung thingy... To Fix it: Settings > Accessibility > interaction and Dex > Turn off the last option "Bounce Keys"! this f*** gave me that limit on button clicks

My iPhone in my open bottom leather case worked in the original Razer Kishi. You would probably need the same. A case without the bottom

I'm pro carrying case and fan (but then they really need to use more expensive materials to better transfer heat) . The analog covers are a nice touch. I'm so sick of seeing shitty $20 controller @ $100 price tag. Click is terrible, people will get angry with you on the bus or in the living room, etc. The pass through USB C needs to support data, charge speed, headphones (BT lag isn't it) . Analog triggers and good analog sticks. At bare minimum the controls need to be good, but they can't even do that right.

As i see from your video the thump sticks not look very responsive . Is it ok ? Is it responsive like xbox controller? Because definitely i want it only for game pass and xbox cloud.

My biggest complain about X3 is their weird new D-pad, I liked the X2 (version 2) D-pad better...

I don't mind a bigger size telescopic gamepad, but for the love of god, please add a bottom bumper/handle so my fingers can have a proper place to rest. It is so annoying not being only able to play with these kinds of controller for long time becuase your hand gets cramped quickly.

Cases mean far less standard placement of the USB C. I've basically concluded telescopic controller is pointless on the go, because I don't want to transfer my phone from case where I can drop and hurry my phone. I use my wallet case, on the go to protect my screen, which would not work with one of these or a clip.

The button are not the same as a xbox controller when it comes for "A,B,Y" and "X" on Gamepass which is very annoying to me

On the X2 I changed to a thicker phone case and the USB wouldn't fit anymore. Ended up having to use a knife to cut the black rubber and that made contact. Should probably replace something thinner/softer there so it doesn't rub too much but the USB-C connection works again

Yea I checked quite a few other reviews and others didn't seem to have this issue at all. Just an odd issue that I'm still waiting on figuring out. Hoping a firmware update can sort it to be honest.

@@ThePhawx I'd imagine you're on the same firmware as I am, which means it could be a hardware issue. Maybe an issue with the keycaps? But a support call makes sense.

I certainly don't dispute that my hardware is potentially a one-off issue it's just odd that using G-mode for the touch-mapping to button presses didn't have this issue. But yea, waiting to hear back

I bought this device last nite from Amazon for prime day $80 it came broken. LB jammed down and stuck unmoveable, and toon on screen running in circles constantly. I didn't even mess with it any further. I'm exchanging it for another, will give 1 more chance. I probably should of went w razer kissing v2

It's a no from me as well. If they can make a gamesir X* in which the fan can be positioned where the processor is located, then I might buy it again. I sold my x2 because it makes my phone super hot and the battery drains fast.

I have to X2 good to now i don't need to buy the X3 because the analog sticks still have the same problem. It makes it very hard to aim in FPS Games. Why do they make the analog stick so that they stick to the axes. If it wasn't make like that, i would buy it immediately

They could have 2 port for optionon top and bottom of the device (not like the current one in the vid, that look janky af), but the problem here is that you need too put it in "Some way" to make the fan works is just lame, they could integrate the fan in some software thingy while the device is plug in and work in the software, but this hardware solution is a mess. imo that joystick diagnostics got me MALD, what's the point of a joystick if make a straight line so easy. LMAO face button not registering is a nightmare. XD

Who in the world uses an analog stick for fine input in any game with any controller? like 99% of the time it's full in one direction or another right? It's so rare to need any sort of fine directional input other than a walk...

The only issue I have is that gamepass recognizes the controller as a Nintendo layout. It's the only app that recognizes it as a switch layout and it's extremely frustrating because otherwise it's a lovely controller.

30 frames out of 480 frames/sec you divide by 8 for 60fps games = 3.75 frames of input lag.

So 2 things you missed 1. The extra analog sticks swap to be shorter or taller 2. The fan actually slides, so you can move it to the most heated area of your phone. Try these out and see if your opinion is the same😁

too expensive and absolutey pointless without EGG NS emulator. more than that, all my bt-earphones have unplayable delay, I play only via type-c connection.... so with this gamrpad I cannot play any game in transport or will play without sound!

Hey guys, sorry for the OT, bud I don't know anymore who to write to regarding my problem. Does anybody know, where I could get a gpd win max replacement motherboard? I am fine with both amd and Intel. It's basically my primary gaming and work laptop, bud after two years, it started lacking in performance and the promotion from GPD itself regarding replacing motherboards is no longer available. P. S.: Phawx, thank you for producing quality content. Your are one of those creators, whose videos I watch everytime one comes up. Keep up the good work.

That's a horrible 'upgrade' over X2. So much of the crap wasn't even needed and the Sticks and buttons work so much better on X2. I'm going to stick with my old one and perhaps wait for Gamevice controllers.

Is the fan laud on the gamesir x3. If it's laud maybe i can save money and just get the x2 pro or something. I hear the gamesir app offers overlays. Does it need dumb methods like a computer to use it or root which i hate to do. I got the kushi blindly. Why it doesn't work with cod idk. xbox seris x controller works fine with it.

Depends on the phone. if it's a Samsung fold then they are more powerful than the odin and have larger screens way more suited to retro games. My zfold 4 is outright mind blowing for anything ps2 and older. Crazy good 3ds experience with the spen and folding screen too. But then again it costs like 8x as much as the odin so that's to be expected

It's a shame that these mobile phone controllers usually end up being false promises and broken dreams. I would love a telescopic USB-C gamepad with "d-pad" focus for retro games. However, these controllers always seem to be designed with Chinese mobile gamer rather than the old retro dudes like myself...

what a disgusting controller. This is my issue with basically the entire mobile gaming industry as a whole. full of shovelware crap. Thoughtlessly executed designs. Was it really that hard for even something like Razer Kishi to implement a system like an internal flex cord that would allow phones to be used with cases and accommodate more sizes??? Such utter dog crap. And even the play store has less than 10 games that one can describe being "console quality". Rest is shovelware crap. Always hated the mobile phone industry cuz of this.

Thanks. I want to know what happend... I mean, a lot of tests with ultra models, and they only concentrate in the things it changes from another one. Yes, I understand, a lot of changes, but... the cooling, This is the ONLY gamepad, modern pad, with a cooling similar to the Blackshark 2 or 3. I will definitely buy this one, SD 865, and most of the ultra games with ultra settings, will heat the phone, so then why the powerful processor? EDIT: Yes... the price... in that point we are all the same

X2 was pretty okay looking at the terrible quality joysticks available in other cheaper telescopic controllers. It has good joysticks and I use it a lot for playing retro stuff. But this one is horrible. Even the Joysticks, the one redeeming feature of X2, are shit here.

This controller is for phones with no cases. It has a cooler built in it so if u want ur phone to cool u need to remove the case for it. I don't know why u don't see that. i know alot of android controllers they dont allow u to use ur case when connecting the controllers so this is nothing new.

I let my magnetic blackshark to my phone with magnetic case, I fall asleep when I woke up, couldnt charge because of water in the charge port, the water of the cooler stayed inside of the cover and that happend
