Best singleplayer game I have played since Half-Life (2). That's all I have to say. It's been a very long time since a videogame has left such a big impression on me. I felt so sad after completing the game.. the story really struck me. There are no words to describe this amazing game! :)
metro last light was such a good change of pace, gameplay was absolutely brilliant and the story was so immersive, could not stop playing it sooooooo underrated
the best game i've ever played to this day and i'm not even a russian, no other game manages to immerse me this much with its atmosphere and survival horror fps gameplay like this series did it's such a damn shame that other shitty shooters get yearly releases while this masterpiece ended with just 2 amazing games
And since then ps plus games have gone very downhill take this December for example we get a shitty diablo style game and kings quest.....yay....right?

are you insane? this game is good but not as good as infinite kiddo! WTF, it's boring. especially the first part where you must get back in your home..i think it's dragged a bit and pavel's russian accent.. it's irritating.. the graphics is great but not breath taking. and this list could go on.. but it's enough reason that infinite is better..
This game looks stunning. It gives me that feeling of playing a great game as a child when you stayed in on rainy days and just played. Most games have just become mindless repetitive drivel over the last few years. This is refreshing
Underrated game. Got it free on ps+. I believe I'm towards completing it, quite immersive, especially for an fps. It can hang my ps3 at times and it's on the cutscenes, hard reset required. No biggie.
Just to have it cleared guys , this is GOTY 2013. I mean , i'm a bioshock fanboy after i finished both 1 and 2. But this game just outperforms bioshock infinite on so many levels , its unbelievable. This is one of the best shooters i've played yet. The story is so well written and the graphics are amazing. One of the best shooters i have played.
Hands down, this is the best FPS in its genre that I have played since the original Fear games. Not to mention it's graphically stunning, has great voice acting, amazing storyline, and incredible gun play and mechanics that are leagues ahead of the original Metro 2033.

It's actually to do with retailers. I remember researching this issue myself and whilst i dont remember it all i know places like the UK have usually always released games on Friday and the American markets sold them on Tuesday as it started with Music as they were slow to get stock, they requested they could start selling on Tuesdays and be in full stock on Friday when the consumer market picked up. Something like that, its fairly redundant now as Global Launches are done but some still do this
I usually can't stand linear shooters but this game was great. The game just has a lot of heart and some of the coolest environments I have seen (loved Venice). I hope they keep making Metro games.
I'd call it an FPS with some RPG elements. You can buy/sell/customize weapons. You use special bullets as money, you can also shoot em. Its not an open world, its linear but you stop at some towns and those places are really well designed and fleshed out.
Sina Madani must be a cod lover. She said this game had no colour. What do you want the weapons in metro to have pretty colourful camos. It's meant to be dark and gloomy, it's beautiful the way it is.
I see some people complaining about the Russian accent, yes it's terrifying. The solution? Switch the voice langage to Russian and turn on english subtitles. I am playing 2033 now with those language settings, and believe me it's awesome.
Metro: Last Light was way better than 2033 in every way imaginable. Its an early candidate of my GOTY. Play this in ranger hardcore mode. No HUD at all. You can see your ammo clip becuase there is a hole in the magazines so you know when to reload. And you pull out a compass in your hand. No magic arrow to show you the way. You will die if you dont use stealth. Best graphics, story, and challenging gameplay i've ever seen in a fps. Blends action & story brilliantly. Agree with this review.
You can trust some, the bigger ones not so much but one I trust the most are a few reviewers at Rev3. If you watch there channel and reviews you can probably know which few. But I do have a friend who is in the industry doing the journalism side of things who knows them and can vouch for them so that gives me more reason to trust them.
I'm a few hours in and love it. Gameplay is great, the sound quality is amazing and the story looks to be good. Way better than COD. Far Cry 4 was amazing too.
Agreed. His video immediately effected my decision to purchase this game. I'll be waiting for a Steam sale. All the bells and whistles for $5.00 it is then. Maybe in a year from now. But that move just pissed me off. And I LOVED 2033.
Although I absolutely agree that the gameplay got repetitive, your last point is off. Booker was in the army and worked for the Pinkertons. He was supposed to be a mean killing machine, not an average guy. You could say however, how Infinite had the GTA syndrome of "oh I want to be a nice guy, I hate killing," as you brutally blast the head off a stranger.
If SEGA wants to make another Aliens game, they need 4A games and Deep Silver to work on it. This game has the atmosphere and scares we've been waiting for after DS3 and A:CM, and the developers got it right on with that in Metro Last Light.
The review didn't make me too excited, but I bought the season pass while on sale and will not be wasting my money. Got to try it out, hope it ends up great.
getting it, reading book at moment. its a very dense book-6 pages of reading is equivalent to 18 pages but it is brilliant, only 55 pages in (story is just laying down foundation) and so far-9/10!. -worth buying-
Having it as a separate mode is the only issue here. Then again, when a retailer says to have a certain kind of pre-order bonus or the threaten to not stock your game, you pretty much have to do what they say or lose money. We don't live in a perfect world and business is tricky.
thanks, but ive re read my posts and i comfirm that i never mentioned somthing about the score, im just saying about GS flaws in game reviews in general. there should be value of the game price taken into account, i dont follow numbers, im listening to what he said on the review, rather than just wait for a number, but heres the list of what he DINT mention and are important 1.- Length of game 2.- Value of what to be expected for the X ammount of $ 3.- Critic Shady deals to the consumerist
That was a much better review than IGN's, this is a great sequel from what I can see and I can't wait to get my hands on it, the appeal of this game is in how realistically imperfect it is and most critics missed that
I do agree, a good place to talk about Bioshock is during a Bioshock video. You did nothing wrong as there is nothing wrong with talking about a game that is not really that similar to this one.
Absolutely loving this game! I got a gtx 660 running very high settings other than max SSAA and Tesselation. And no PhysX. Makes me want to upgrade my PC even more! :)
What I ment by varied is when you have that big of a difference in the reviews. 7.2 is a lot different from 9.0. That doesn't really help because look at the difference. If ign gave it even an 8 or 8.5 then it gives a more clearer idea of how this game plays out. That what I was getting at
This game rocks, one of the best games out, this game is up there with bio shock infinite both epicly made games and unique in their own way, I must say im having more fun with metro last light due to the survival aspect and the eery post apocalyptic atmosphere. Game is awesome and visually amazing, the fog, lighting, rain drops especially when it hits metal, the wind blowing makes you feel like your right there. This game has story, action, survival, horror all rolled into one, must buy game.
just finished it and it's one damn good game! the story alone was enough to win me over. can't wait to read the metro books. they always say the book is better and i can't wait to see b/c the game was one of my favorites this year
your nuts. this game looks great on consoles. 720p, sharp textures. its right up there with tomb raider this year for graphics. i've got both on the ps3. don't let metro upscale to 1080p though, looks sharper on 720p. fun game too.
Both IGN and Gamespot depend on companies advertising new games on their sites. Bad critique or bad score in reviews means less or no revenue from ads. In other words you can't trust any of them. Most obvious display of this was 2007 when Gerstmann was fired from Gamespot for giving Kane & Lynch a bad score, Eidos had bought a considerable amount of ads and they expected a good score. So they fired the reviewer and posted a new review with less critique and a higher score. Thats Gamespot.. :)
The graphics in this game are incredible, probably the best i have ever seen. You just can't appreciate them in this video though. I'm talking about the pc version of course.
A dlc is supposed to be extra content, not including what should have been in there in the first place. If you're looking at it from a business perspective, players will recognize this. More people are going to wait for sales, pirate, or just not buy it at all. I understand marketing for these companies is difficult, but if you just start getting cheaper and cheaper with games, for bigger and bigger price tags, its only going to cause backlash.
I made my second run through on Ranger mode you only get one point to pick up the Saiga. I used the AK, 6 shot shotgun before saiga and the sniper but the AK is the best to use there's a P90 variant along the way too but has no power
Meh ? Campaigns now are only like six hours long (If That). This is a pure, spooky, intense, well written ride from beginning to end with no regret of buying it in sight. The campaign in this game is just the perfect amount of time, and never overstays it's welcome. So if you think this game is short, or bad in any way...then.... Just stop playing games. Simple.
What I didn't like about this game is the friendly NPC felt like they didn't have any emotions like you would hear someone laughing but when you look at them they just nod and move their heads around.
Oh yes its just as good as I expected it to be. Cant wait to get it off steam but what he said about AMD has me a little worried hopefully there is a benchmark for me to test it before I buy.
I wouldn't say its better than Infinite but it looks a lot more gritty and atmospheric. A bit more like the first 2 Bioshock games. Anyway this is what my SLI Titans have been waiting for. Roll On Midnight !!!

It's funny. Metro another apocalyptic first person shooter...yet it's in a league of it's own. There is nothing quite like it. So refreshing to play. It is somewhat reminiscent of Half Life. Great game it's worth it just to explore the Metro and it's inhabitants
Last Light I'm playing it on a 260GTX @1440x900 on High settings and it seems to run fine, Your in luck too there is a Saiga auto shotgun and weapon customization is better now, I played 4 hours yesterday
Yes. This game was like a pleasant discovery for me. It's perfect gameplay reminds Half-Life, it's cinematic scenes remind Call of Duty. This game is 9/10 definitely.
i tried to, but unlike skyrim where u can literaly choose to show subtitles of EVERY npc that talks, in metro only certain conversations are subtitled and you´re going to miss most of the information that isnt relevant to your mission, i mean of course immersive misc coversations. i say play it on english the first time then change it to russian.
It's not free roam. You have a decent amount of room to roam around when you're on the surface but its not as expansive as fallout it. Theres outside, the transition zones into the metro tunnels, and the metro tunnels themselves.
The AK has always been the gun I feel like I should think is the best but I actually don't, because I've either got an absolutely towering automatic shotgun or a pneumatic arrow launcher with a scope and a laser. In 2033, I only ever used it when I ran out of ammo for everything else.
I find it funny that most people call the accents "fake" when the people doing the English dub are actually for the most part Russians who can speak English.
And Metro Last Light is way improved over metro 2033, if you played it you know what i mean, this game is real survival horror, epic game of 2013 along with bio infinite. The first time playing it was hard to put the controller down thats how i know this game is something special.
bioshock infinite was a masterpiece. only thing that didn't cut it for me though was the repetitive gameplay and the shotty vigors, if only infinite had bioshock 1 gameplay holy smokes that game would be the best game ever still is imo
I plan to wait for a sale too, since I didn't think the first game was worth $60, and I'm not interested enough in the sequel to dish out $60 for it. I'm just saying there's more to it than the devs/publishers going: "Hurr durrr let's charge $5 to people for a difficulty setting because why not!?" People instantly blame devs for being greedy and whatnot when business is way more complex than that, especially in todays world.
