The FF7 remake really pissed me off with it's lie lmao. But it's kind of my fault because of the following: I avoided all trailers and news because I didn't want spoilers. I picked up the game the first day it came out and was playing while talking to friends on discord. We were talking about the game and I said something to the effect of, "Man, this sure is interesting, but I really can't wait to get out of Midgard and see what the rest of the game is like." To which my friend replied, "Uh, dude. You know this game takes place only in Midgard right?" "...what?" "Yeah they're releasing it in 3 games." "..." I have stopped playing since that point and haven't touched the game again. They didn't remake the game, they just made a new game with the characters, location, and story. That's not a remake, that's a redo. I'm still salty about this. I just wanted the original game remade, not....whatever that is.

So while promotions *can* work like that in a war time environment, it generally doesn't because the chain of command is very well established, and thought out all the way down to... If they hold the same rank, office, branch of service, promotion date, etc. they'll go to their birthdays (no joke). Now there are field promotions, but they've grown exceedingly rare in modern times, and generally only go to truly exceptional soldiers after doing something that would have been considered foolish if it didn't work out. Ass got promoting his friend after ... It's basically an office (position), not a rank promotion. At most he'd likely get a lateral promotion, something like specialist to corporal, but they're both the same rank, one is just for command positions. I'm old. This was your daily dose of information nobody cares about lol
