After I saw this I looked at my wife and then looked at my childhood. Now I want an arcade. Love the 80's & 90's.

Glad so many of you like the room. Just to clear up some of the stuff that's been speculated. My fiancee did help design this room, so she wasn't some selfish B#$ch who made me choose between games or her. By the time I started making the room, it was clear we were drifting apart and we both wanted it to work, but it just didn't. She was by no means neglected though, and far more money went to her than into this room :) I loved her, but it didn't work out. I love games, but I would always choose a healthy relationship over games. The thing is, life is so short and we should surround ourselves with people who allow our passions to thrive, not with people who squash them or make us hide what we love. I hate the fact that men always have to create "mancaves" because the rest of the house doesn't belong to them. That's not cool. So to the men and women of the world who have passions, don't let other people make you feel ashamed of them. And for the love of god, let those passions spill out into your physical space. So many people live in cookie cutter spaces. Not me, and neither should you. Cowabunga!

To be super realistic I can tell you this and I'm much older than you. Any woman who would leave you over something you enjoy is not worth staying with. She's going to be trouble in the long run one way or the other and she's obviously very selfish. I mean unless it's at the point that you can't pay your bills because you're so addicted to games but I have a feeling that's not the case

Nothing wrong with it, I have a passion collecting arcades and pinball. My wifey is not a fan, but is 100% supportive. I rather be hooked on this rather than being in the street getting in all sorts of trouble.

I read the article about him a few days ago! His fiancé helped him for a bit putting this room together (as in helping pick out the floor tiles), but yeah- she assumed he wanted gaming more and spending too much money on this and that-- All I know is, it's one room for him! His space! It came out great and most ppl commented saying "she probably wanted him to spend more money on her, rather than his games"

As much as I admire his passion, I wish he knew how to prioritise. I'm sure someone with the same level of passion can figure out make time for their loved ones.

That room is nothing compared to some other collectors like the Immortal John Hancock and the Last Gamer. Everyone is free to enjoy their hobby as long as they balance it with life. No one has any right to force someone out of their hobby for their own egotistical and narcissist needs. I've seen a lot of couples respecting each other's hobbies and still having a wonderful marriage. Good riddance.

If she can't let you have a man-cave or even enjoy it (if only for your own sake) then she's no good for you.. Its not "unhealthy" to have a hobby, especially not games - most my female buddies and a couple of exes play/played games with me (lots of Streetfighter 2!). She can have the rest of the flat or house, but a man needs his CAVE! ^_^ A womans bedroom is essentially her woman cave, full of delicately laced, pastel colored, ribbony, perfumed things, images of city scapes or faeries or I don't know what the fu*k stuff - things that that bore men silly.. If they can have that (and the rest of the house too btw with all these doo dabs and frilly things), then let the boys have their toys!

They just weren't meant to be...if he loved her enough they would still be together. The right woman is going to come along and she'll either be one that shares his passion or just be so freaking awesome that she'll come first and gaming second. Either way it's clear his former fiancé was not the one for him.

I'm about the same age as this guy and I'm highly passionate about tech and gaming. Personally gaming itself plays a small role in my interest in arcades and gaming consoles ect .. It's about escapism, socializing, competitiveness, good times, art styles, nostalgia, programming codes and witnessing technological evolution over a 30 year time span. Gaming also makes you smarter and helps ward off mental illness brung about by an idle mind. My nephew who is only 10 years old is in advanced gifted classes because he is a hardcore gamer! Keeps his mind active, healthy and strong! I rather game than go to a museum just to stand in front of an exibit of an old painting or a dead dinosaur. What can I possibly do with that ? : )

What a coincidence. I am a fan of arcade games (a.k.a. Arcade Gaming Geek) since my childhood also,specially with games of the end of 70(Space Invaders,Asteroids,Super Breakout,Breakout,etc),from the end of the 80's(Berzerk set 1 and 2,Frenzy,DK,DKJR,DK3,Zaxxon,etc) and games of the beginning of the 90's(T2 Judgement Day Arcade Version,Street Fighter,etc).

Zac Efron had a similar story between his ex-girlfriend and his XBOX 360, she regretted giving him the XBOX 360 to him as a gift. LOL

I don't blame the girl, she wanted a fucking normal bedroom for fucks sake. Can you really blame her for not wanting to sleep on a uncomfortable Ikea pull out couch, in a claustrophobic room with video games in every direction. I'm sure he could of put his collection in another room, or just had a few in the bedroom and she wouldn't of mind. If you can spend almost 40 grand on video games, you can afford to upscale to a bigger place. Like he said, he'd come home and go right on message boards or be on his games, and show no attention to her. Would you want to be with someone like that after awhile?

Honesty if you can't be honest with a woman about your hobby the relationships not worth having. He should find a woman with similar taste. My fiancé as we speak is glitching GTA V for free cars while pregnant with my child, after years of dating and putting up with women that shunned what I liked I am happiest now.

I understand it's his hobby and he likes to collect but he neglected his partner. He sleeps on a futon with a Ninja Turtles blanket and he's 37. Pushing 40. I think he got what he deserved. Not that it wouldn't be impossible for him to find a chick into similar things in his age group, but c'mon. The neglect is where he fucked up majorly.

I am really confused how this ran him $32,000. Machines cost a lot less back in 2014 than they do today in 2023, but even in todays economy you could recreate this (buying games and room remodeling) for A LOT cheaper... For $32,000 I as expecting a mini arcade with 3-5 pinballs in his basement
