Can lace-making become a game to teach the value of heritage? Bruges’ long and illustrious tradition of lace-making becomes the key to show kids how to embed craft in their future - and therefore the future of the world
In the video, produced by EFHA - European Fashion Heritage Association in collaboration with ‪@ModeMuseum‬ - Fashion Museum Antwerp, Rudy De Nolf, manager of the Lace Centre & Museum (Kantcentrum), explains how he managed to turn traditional techniques into an enjoyable and shared learning experience.
The video is part of the Europeana Crafted series.

Has the Museum considered offering online learning modules? Or perhaps online live and interactive zoom events and lectures? - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi

I wish that you would make digital downloads of the patterns and sell them. 9:49 If you would make patterns available online you could make enough money to be self funding and keep the museum open.

Absolutely agree. There are multiple possibilities of places to sell the patterns at. Their own shop, an Etsy portal and maybe even an ebay option. There's a young lady who is a curator of lace at the Met - maybe they could do a collaboration. She also has started a lace guild. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi

How about opening the vaults in public libraries and churches and make the old patterns available to the public?

I would absolutely love to be able to buy pdf patterns that I can download or get emailed to print out at home (you can adjust the size if you want). There is a Klöppel shop with a big website in Germany. They have several small motifs at €2.50 that I liked so I asked how to download this once purchased. The answer was: they don't offer any charts to download, the only way you can get them is by mail. It costs €8.50 postage to get this mailed to me in the UK. Suffice to say that I won't be buying from them. I'd rather print something from the Internet and have a go myself. But I would prefer an acfual chart. Perhaps with numbers on it: where to start and how many bobbin pairs to hang at which point. I would pay good money for that, but I'm not prepared to pay for exorbitant postage. Lovely video! I enjoyed it. I would also enjoy seeing some of the practical work in close-ups.

( Fascinating that a young girl wears a sweatshirt which says "Moonchild": Moonchild was a small musical band from California who played soul/ jazz [singer was Amber Navran] The young girl's sweatshirt probably had nothing to do with the band!) This is an interesting video!
