yep after he announced that sins are not forever and took him couple of years of doing an sin video of this game next he should continue completing part 3 sins of mass effect Andromeda .
I absolutely love Tomb Raider. I feel like an idiot saying this, but I hope next sequel or whatever happens will finally give Lara the iconic character and recognition she deserves. I love some of the aspects and mechanics in this trilogy, but Goddamn I miss the sass, double pistols and acrobatic skills.
If they do a continuation of the Survivor trilogy, it would make sense for her to be more self confident, and maybe have some sass. I would also love to see a return of the double pistols, but I think keeping the acrobatic skills more grounded is fine.
I think the only reason she isn't so flagrantly badass here, with sass and guns, is because she's still kind of a rookie. It's the third game but it's still an origin story.
@@centrevezgaming4862 True. In a game titled Tomb Raider, I expect the tombs to be the main setting of the plot, not some filler dlcs that has nothing to do with the main story.
Over 140 sins and I believe you missed "Lara Croft reads all diary/journal entries in her own voice, thereby losing a variety of different voices that helped keep our interest in the previous games".
thats fucking stupid. why use many peole which s=would cost more than use the same actress saving time and money. scheduling more people is always more diffivult. imo this game has more wins than sins. is fun and very adventure. you want a shooter go play uncharted
I've always read the ending as just what you described it not being. It's clear in Lara's vision that the family is adventuring together and her parents are getting along, a happy childhood that Lara didn't actually have. So I saw that as her being tempted with a chance to go back and relive that version of her childhood that she always wanted, with her mum alive and her father's work being more of a family thing. It's also a foreshadowed early in the game when she asks Jonah if he would use the power of the box to go back and change things to get more time with his family. It's not spelled out, but this isn't simply a memory of her childhood. It's a tempting alternate version of it that she has to resist.
This is my favourite game of the trilogy, yet I hate what they ended up doing w all plot points, it's beyond ridiculous. The setup, setting, exploring gameplay, the game had it all! We were this close to greatness!!
About “new” Lara not changing as a character…there is a whole lotta wrong with that. After experiencing extreme life-threatening events, kill-or-be-killed situations, treachery, being on a massive murderous spree, losses of friends and the discoveries she’s made: it is extremely unnatural to remain this whimsical, sensitive, easily startled character we’ve seen her in the first game of the trilogy during all this time. They tried to get away with that at the marketplace scene making her act kinda cold, but, please - 22:44. Bad, bad writing.
I feel like a better version of this game would be if Lara was hell bent on revenge against Trinity, and that’s the reason why she does what she does regardless of the death and destruction she incurs.
Awesome content as usual, I found that you were elaborating more on the sins than usual, I see why though, I can feel why you'd want to twist things up to make new content than the usual short catch phrase! Curious to see what you'll come up with next.
i can already smell the "you just hate strong women", "sexist!", "manchild!!" comments already i have no doubt they will come flooding in once he does that game
@@FredBstar3K lol people failed to realized it ain't even bout being sexist or nun of that shii the big point is that the game is straight ass in the story
I'm late but I want to say thank you for coming back to make all of our lives easier through these hard times!! Here are some ideas for the next video: Everything wrong with: 1 Watch Dogs Legion (100 sins confirmed guaranteed) 2. The Wolf Among Us episode 4 and 5 (very over due) 3. Watch Dogs Bad blood? 4. MK11 (definitely) 5. Call of Duty? 6. Batman the telltale series.(if possible) 7. Mass effect Andromeda (pick up where you left off xP) 8. Cyberpunk 2077 9. Witcher 2,3
26:41 look frame by frame at that fall the guy's helmet clips trough the wooden stick and later both Lara and him clip trough the middle stick. Holly shit how did developers not spot that glitch ?
What do you think of the fact that the next game is to have all the timelines connected in a single story, and with the intention of Lara Croft finally getting back to the classic version?
The goat is back. I still believe he has better "everything wrong" videos than any RU-vidrs right now. Please do far cry series from far cry 3 so you experience the best antagonist acting
Happy to see you back, but I am shocked you didn't sin Trinity, the main enemy for the last 2 games, was defeated off-screen with what is basically a throwaway line.
One of the worst sins of the reboot could have been avoided by simply not making the main character Lara Croft. She could have been Laura Cruz, the scrapped protagonist for the original Tomb Raider. The personality changes would not be jarring and she would have more of a personal connection to the South American settings. It could have even been a sequel to the original series or the first reboot, letting Lara Croft remain a historical figure who could herself end up in a museum.
As logical as your idea is, video game publishers want to use Lara Croft as a marketing tool to sell more games even though the story has illogical elements.
That statement in the beginning - 100% true!!! The whole video is pointing out everything that I don't like recent reboot, not only because it fails at core gamedesign of Tomb Raider, but also destoying her character! Thank you for putting all of my dissapointment with the reboot in words, I failed to do so until this point!
I actually think the level design was great up until the mid section in Rise of the Tomb Raider. The gameplay was very decent (and the combat system enjoyable).
Okay in the beginning of the game, I forgot about the crash until it happened again, and it took me a minute to realize it was in the beginning of the game.
Is it just me or does the way Lara's hair has parted look so unnatural? Plus it stays like that for the whole game and never gets messed up or displaced by the looks of it.
YEAAAH! WELCOME BACK BUDDY! I missed your videos! Edit: In trinity's defense regarding the Dagger: I think they were going to simply secure the area until the box was found. Lara fucked it up all by herself XD
@@jaylinwebb993 I'm a fan of the originals. THE originals. Core Design ones. From the original team. That got the IP stolen by people thinking that the original games were about Lara constantly getting mutilated. Needless to say, I'm allowed to hate a game, even if someone else considers it a good game.
@@jaylinwebb993 No it ain't. Most of it is just walking around, and listening to poorly mixed dialogues. 2013 was so much better, massacring an entire death island was awesome, strolling around in villages with little gameplay isn't.
@ 26:40 not only did the guard use off stage teleportation but him and lara both phased through part of the wooden support before he got his head knocked off the beam below it
I would like to add 1 extra sin for the final scene of the game where it clearly shows the divine source being on a shelf after she destroys it in the last game
The whole premise of this game is dumb. I get in ancient times solar eclipse would be frightening. You really trying to tell me, that Moon will just stop in its orbit and sun will not come out without a ritual, world needs to be "remade" using some knife and silver box? Because opening a tomb, releasing some ancient disease and then struggling through obstacles to reach a hidden cure is beyond the imagination of developers I guess. Everyone who is wanted by the cult in the city and in jail or tied up just go home when released, because everyone instantly forgets what they look like, where they live, what they done.
Funny how Tomb Raider inspired Uncharted and in turn Uncharted inspired the reboot Tomb Raider games. The only real reason no one likes the new Tomb Raider games is because of the name. If they chose any other name they'd be golden. Shit even if Naughty Dog released dlc that was a tribute to Tomb Raider just having Lara as the main character it'd probably be fine.
There was a few things i actually liked about this game. 1. The graphics are absolutely stunning. 2. Glad for this game (And rise) They brought back Jonah (He was the only other character that was likable in TR 2013) To me thats about it.
I feel raptors would have been better at stealthly killing those soldiers in the jungle instead of those creepy gremlin things also it would have been nice if they hinted to the scion in this trilogy
I'd ask you to sin Cyberpunk 2077, but I doubt even you have enough patience to play through this game AND study the story. But if you somehow pull THAT off, it'll be a very fun watch.
Lara is back all the way from the ps1 days. Ellie got her start at the end of ps3/beginning of ps4. And Aloy is ps4. It can be argued that since they are newer they have more relevance but got to remember the og
So... when did Jonah replace Sam as Lara's BFF anyway? This is the second game she doesn't have any importance or even shows up at all. Or is this answered in comics therefore lazy writing?
I think its mentioned in this game that Lara and Sam had a falling out after what happened to Sam in one of the games, I cant remember which one, and Lara got closer to Jonah as a result.
@@voidvortex6807 I mean she got taken by some cultists and turned into a body for a dead goddess or something and summoned an oni out of that... so can we truly blame her?
@@voidvortex6807 to add more to this comment - Lara did have some small events with Sam in the comics (and one book), but it's kinda implied that both just grew apart and went their seperate ways
41:00 Ezra Bridger in the Star Wars Rebels Series Finale is tempted by Emperor Palpatine himself and he rejects the temptation to give up his life as a Jedi and be with his parents destroying the Rebel Alliance before Luke Skywalker can join it to defeat the Empire. Ezra has entered the chat.
I love seeing an upload from you. This will be the best video I watch until you upload another. Also, the Golddust reference was spot on. Dustin is one of the greatest ever. That match between his brother Cody in AEW was classic. Anyway, bank to Tomb Raider.
Exploring in this "exploring game" is totally not worth it because combat is practically non-existing despite giving you all those cool skills that you can't actually use! Game studios these days spend all the money and resources to create such insane visuals but completely ignore the actual GAMEPLAY. The only thing they got right in this game was Lara's ass.. it's perfect
At least uncharted & tomb raider acknowledged each other since uncharted was inspired by early tomb raider now tomb raider is inspired by uncharted. The only way they can save Tomb Raider is to bring back orignal Lara, we loved Lara for her bad-ass personality. Not a more winny lara that gets taken advantage of too fast when she could take out a room within minutes. We never saw lara travel to locations. Its really funny that 12 years straight of a confident Lara, the. suddenly she is a shy women who needs help & assistance by a giant map she some how accesses? Loses her iconic duel pistols, make TOMBS options when it called Tomb Raider. Such a massive departure
This game should be in a museum as a timeless proof for "pretty graphics don't make a game great" statement. Lara is gorgeous and her facial animations are incredible and the game engine is nice though.
Tomb Raider Legend and underworld are not part of any reboot. The only reboot we got was Tomb Raider 2013. Please for the love of God change that sin. One reboot in a series since 96. Legend picks up after angel of darkness and has people who was in Tomb Raider:Chronicles.
Just glad to see someone else also stating what should be the obvious. I didn't like these Tomb Raider games simply because they tried too hard to be Uncharted.
But! But I can relate to this Lara Croft, you see I too am a mopey, humorless, socially awkward brick with limitless endurance, daddy issues, mommy issues, ungodly upper body strength, a dead father, no emotional intelligence, no social or personal confidence, obsessive violent criminal tendencies and a tall poc friend who’d follow me to the ends of the earth no matter how batshit insane my ideas sound💀💀 seriously this Tomb Raider is kinda weak but I still enjoyed the games and played them multiple times :,)
@@nikolaskarazafeiris6367 Easy to ignore, so not too big, but GCN is a channel that prides himself on being nitpicky, so there's no way he'd just leave it unnoticed.
If Lara is a sociopath then why does she exhibit concern for Jacob, etc people around her? And why does she feel guilt ridden after the natural disasters? If anything is say she has more of a savior complex. I mean, I get it, the vid is entertainment, not so much education, but love her or hate her, she is not a sociopath.
