Within the harsh and rocky terrain, missing but not forgotten, hidden from eyesight, sits an ancient city with an incredible story - the Jewish city of Gamla. The battle of Gamla was one of the key conflicts during the Judean's rebellion against the Roman empire. The Jewish historian Josephus , tells us in great detail about the town and the war and the tragic fate of the defenders of Gamla. The city was completely destroyed and was never rebuilt. The location was lost in time. Not until 1968 was the site rediscoverd and identified as the lost city of Gamla.
This vide tour will walk us down the path to ancient Gamla, to the walls and towers, the Mikveh and the Synagogue and to the mountain precipice , where the defenders of the town leaped to their death in despair. We will also visit the vulture lookout and the Dolmen field and end our tour at the Gamla waterfall.
