Thank you for this guide (and all the other set up tutorials) I just got my RG405V and put Gamma OS on it and I love it. Your guides were very helpful.
If you could do a quick video on what gammaOS can do and it's advantages, that would be great. I had no idea you could switch analogue and d-pad, untill you just mentioned it and I've had it for a while
I'm having difficulty getting GammaOS to properly work on my 405v. Everytime I flash over the software full or lite, it won't pull up any wifi. With Daijisho it seems that I have to download a majority of its libraries from its github which doesn't connect because no internet. Anyone experience this that was able to fix this wifi problem? Really want to play PS2 games that won't chop up at 10 frames a second but I can't seem to get it to work right.
same here. Got the console this week, flashed it everything looking good, but impossible to get any wifi network thus not able to pull console data from github repo. I had to restore back to stock firmware. Did you manage to fix gammaos somehow?
@@jorgexplosion @1justbeatit I got the fix. You have to reinstall stock os, then install gamma os again. But before running the FlashPartitions.bat (gamma os lite) open the file with notepad and remove the line "fashboot flash vendor flash/vendor_custom.img>>>"
it did not work. gamaos did not installed try again now i have my console saying INFO LOCK FLAG IS: UNLOCK!! and not working not even turning on or off HELP PLEASE!!!!
I think this is great but for me the steps from 10m20s are the ones I have no idea how to get everything working with roms and bios etc. Looking forward to the links to those
I have three different setup videos in the description that should help you with what you need. Or even my latest Retroid Pocket 4 Pro setup guide, Android is Android so all of it works on anything.
Hi ! I'm totally lost... after multiples reboots, deactivate debuggig and start again the guide... My rg405v show me the fastboot screen message INFO : and i'm blocked here... don't understande why... can you help me ?
Weird thing is that retroarch flycast vulkan is broken now for some reason. Crashes right away. Other cores work fine with vulkan though. Tried different versions of flycast core, deleted all kinds of cfg files etc nothing works. That's a shame since vulkan flycast was for me the perfect way to play dreamcast with minimal lag and graphical glitches. Open gl flycast has way too much problems and redream has a huge lag
Hi Joey, I'm trying to use L2 and R2 with the app Parsec, and it is not recognizing those buttons. Is there anything else I need to do after installing gamma os?
ANY ADVICE? awesome video, i follow step by step, i beleive it flashes correctly. then when i push power button to reset device, it just boots up as is like nothing happened. i see no gammaos or interface.
One thing that’s always a hassle with Android is setting up the correct/optimal Retroarch settings for each core. Is Retroarch with GammaOS pre-setup (scaling/filters/scalers etc) with each system/core? Also, does GammaOS have OTA updates or do we keep having do go through all of this to update? Thanks for the great content..
Scaling yes, filters and shaders are optional extras and not really optimal or correct settings. No OTA for updating, would need to follow the wiki instructions which are similar. I waited for this full release before doing the video due to that.
@@JoeysRetroHandhelds Thanks, Joey. I wish there was an OnionOS type OS available for Android devices that come pre-setup and optimised within of their lives. Just one thing, I remember watching the live unboxing with you and Stubbs and he mentioned he couldn’t see the over sharpening with his RG405v. I can’t on mine but how was yours?
hello after installing gamma os my sd card is suddenly write protected and when i open an emulator apk and want to take the sd card as rom path it is not shown to me does anyone have a solution for this problem?
Thanks for the great work! My RG405V just arrived earlier today so this video is perfect timing haha. Apparently you can just transfer games over via USB-C? I think the internal storage will be enough for me since I won’t touch PS2 or GameCube.
magisk doesnt work for me. when opening the app it says requires addition setup please reinstall, when i try it says it says failed unknown image format. also there is no apps section. i have to go to widgets and put shortcuts to access my apps
@@user-mn9ls6pq5r I had to do the process all over again but to be on safe side I booted default system and tried again and it worked. I think it’s because I was booting for 405m before I found out there was 405v option lol
Hi, I have never updated a firmware. Is it as simple as an operation? Is a 64GB SD card also ok? Does the 405v experience improve overall compared to the original? Lastly, I wanted to ask you, in case of errors, can you always go back to the original one? Thanks!!
Thanks for the great help in your upload. I've got the ANBERNIC 405V I picked up while in Shanghai. What do you think is the best front end for it at the moment? 😉
Getting my first handheld in RG405V. Anyway I can install Gamma OS using a Samsung Tablet S6 lite instead of a conventional PC? Don’t have a reliable desktop. 😂
Dude im so mad ive been through 2 rg405m's already... the l1 button broke on both within a week... Thinking of switching to the rg405v... rg505.. or maybe retroid pocket 3 even though it seems super hard to set up one
at first I was thinking to buy the 405m too but after some research I noticed many people complaining of the shoulder buttons. So eventually I got the 405v which arrived today. Hopefully there will be no issues 😅
when you say that do you mean like saved data or like all the files including the emulators because i really dont wanna install crap again. @@JoeysRetroHandhelds
What's the point exactly? Does this do more than stock firmware. I hate that font end you showed it boots with. I prefer arc browser. I have my 405m all set up with arc browser. And it takes a good minute to set it up. Is it worth all the hassle for gama. I really do not know I'm genuinely asking
You don't have to use Daijisho, it's just bundled in, uninstall it if you'd like. I went over the benefits in the video, but if you prefer written, here it is: github.com/TheGammaSqueeze/GammaOS
