I appreciate it. Surprised to see the Crosman hollow points do so well. I have killed a lot of squirrels with them, I knew they were accurate enough and could penetrate ok but I never expected them to do more damage than all of those pellets in gel. So, I just treated myself to a new Gamo Varmint air rifle and I bought the Crossman Hollow points to go with it. I couldn't wait to try it, so I shot a 2x6 and it penetrated about an inch. I was pleasantly surprised. Today I was looking at other ammo and got some Gamo Tomahawks. While I was looking, I found your show "VERY cool". Can't wait to check out more, keep up the good work!

I can appreciate the work and effort you put into the video so good job. As a critique for next time, do a set of 3-5 pellets of each type. With one shot of each only, it's hard to draw any conclusions on performance as any single shot could be an exception rather the trend for each type. There's a wide margin of performance with pellets this small and an equally sized margin for the airgun itself. Aside from that you did good with the test and presentation. Well done.

Also, remember, the wound channel you see is the permanent wound channel, ballistics tell us that there is also a temporary channel, ballistic gel closes the temporary one but actual flesh isnt as elastic so it will show a bigger one, you can also use wet pottery clay to show the temporary channel

Exactly what I wanted to mention, if you watch your shots penetrate the gel in slowmotion you would see the actual dumping of kinetic force in the gel. But since it is elastic it will get back into shape and you only see the tunnel dug by the pellet. Awesome video, thanks!

Still a great pump gun even though it is mostly plastic, ru-vid.comUgkxh4su9YgU1tWmjikirWcKJbjsFLEU62Bc but with care it will last a long time. It would be neat if Crosman would make a commemorative version of this with real wood stock, but of course it would weigh more and cost more, but hey, it would be cool. The included scope is more of a toy, but it does work for backyard plinking. I prefer to use pellets for greater accuracy, but BBs are just as good for plinking. This is not a Red Ryder folks; fully pumped it is 3 times the power of a Red Ryder and can be dangerous if not handled properly. Be safe out there.

With hollow point rounds you'll expect less penetation but more knockdown power and concussive force. In a hunting situation you'd want exactly that. I have 22 cal break barrel that produces 28ft lb at the muzzle. Hollow point are almost explosive, when I do pest control they puff birds into feathers and sometimes make large wounds. Pellets made for penetrating zip through them. So I tend to use heavier pellets too. My gamo cfx is in 177. I use JSB heavies, they knock birds hard but you need to hit vitals because 177 rifles don't carry as much energy with lighter pellets. Compared to my 22 cal spitting lead at 905ft per second with 15 grains. They can take a racoon easy with a head shot.
@diarrheadan8088
@diarrheadan8088 2 года назад
With air rifles it's all about shot placement. My gamo .22 can take a lot of different game. I tend to use the crossman hollow points the most because they're very consistent, the red fires are also mac trucks. For .177 gold flight is definitely my go to for clean headshots and body shots on larger animals like raccoons and groundhogs. I've put holes in thin frying pans with gold flights.

I really enjoyed seeing the exploding pellet on ballistic gel. I am thinking about buying some of those just for the hell of it.. Based on your testing I think I liked the Gamo magnum the best because they are the most similar to the old Beeman Silver Jets from 20 years ago. Those old Beemans were by far the top of the line as far as I am concerned. The H&N Spikes, H&N Silver Points and the Gamo Magnum are the closest we have to the old Beeman Silver Jets that I can find these days. I shoot for accuracy more than for damage and penetration but the information you have provided is invaluable. Thanks man.. Good stuff.

The Daisy Hollow Points in .22 caliber are completely different in design. Imagine a Gamo Red Fire without the plastic tip. A very deep “V” shaped hollow and super deadly on small game from 550 FPS up to 920 FPS. Very consistent and accurate. I regularly get 1/2” groups with 10 rounds at 50 yards when pushing them @ 900 FPS in most of my PCP .22 caliber rifles. Even my PCP Diana Bandit shoots them great at 30 yards holding under 3/4”. The lead is soft and the DUMP! their energy almost instantly. I hit starlings and sparrows with them out to 75-80 yards and they just crush them. Under 50 yards the birds sound like firecrackers going off and it rains meat, feathers, and body parts. Definitely one of my favorite hunting pellets for 50 yard hunting/pest control. Amazon is the best way to get them if you have a .22 cal airgun and want to try them. Wicked awesome and maybe a hidden/forgotten gem. Cool test brother! Thank you for this video. Very cool.

Bro, excellent assortment of pellets and great data from the test. A heat gun or hair blower will smooth out the wrinkles in the gel. The entire penetrated track is taken into consideration, meaning that bounce back doesn't necessarily designate the overall depth, what you were calling wound cavity is totally the depth of penetration. AND YES!!!!! you saw combustion(SPARK) that is compression combustion like a diesel engine !!!!!
@roosterboy7357
@roosterboy7357 Год назад
If you’ll notice on the Crossman all copper The hollow points in these pellets aren’t designed to open up, they’re designed to tear instead of slicing through the target like a round nose would. When it bounced back it created a larger wound cavity because of the badminton style design towards the rear of the projectile like a hollow point
