I get 930 fps with 14.3 at sea level. Open sights no good , but scope is great and holds the beating. Rifle has to be held very strong and firmly because it a lightweight gun. Very good for hunting at 20 to 35 yards. I filled the empty stock on mine with oiled rags tightly compressed, eliminated the vibration. Bought it very low priced on a Christmas Eve , Gamo really throws some great specials. GOOD GUN .
Yep. Be sure to catch Angie’s video on Gateway to airguns. She’ll be using tune in a tube on it for her 2nd video. Long live spring guns! LOL Cheers AGW
@stanpotter7764 Damn I feel like that's gonna be a problem for me too man. That sucks because i was planning on buying 2 of them to take them to my home town in mexico
@@elvergontemeto714 You might look at the Gamo Whisper Fusion Mach 1. It has the same power plant as the Magnum but the comb of the stock looks lower compared to the sights than on the Magnum. I don't have an experience with one though.
I love gamo I've been thinking of getting that one because i have the black stock magnum in 22 and the hunter extreme igt pro in .22 and I've been getting 27 to 28 fpe consistently with the crosman domes, hollow and the destroyers pellets as well n I'm certain even this springer can produce those numbers as well if you go lighter in pellets. The magnums also love the hobbys wadcutter in 11.9g and those numbers are great and accurate as well worth a shot great hunting tools!!
I have had 3 of the gen2 mag .22's, and I have a pretty easy modification tip for you. Have you noticed when you first take the gun out, the first shot shoots the best, then is starts dropping and getting inconsistent fps? I found that the air is making it's way around the o-ring sleeve to cause a power loss and inconsistent fps, (which is noticeable more for 60 plus yard shots than the 20 this guy usually tests at with sub par pellets). The o-ring sleeve can be remove very easily with a small flat blade screw driver that will do no damage if your careful. It would be nice to open the barrel with out cocking it, so you can do the work easier, but leaving it cocked for 2 days (later) might be a good test since it has a 5 year warranty. So remove that o-ring sleeve, clean it with soap and water, Mine was oily, and I know how it got that way. Air blew it in there.). Clean the groove out with some kind of solvent, (much easier if the gun is cocked of course), but don't let any enter the compression chamber through the transfer port hole, (I put a little piece of tape over it.). Now put a dab of gasket sealer on the flat end of the o-ring sleeve, and put it back in the groove. I want a little excess coming out, (and you don't need much sealer to do that), and clean it off the breech face. I would let it cure for 2 days before firing. I am also going to make a .005"-.010" shim to put under the sleeve, for a stronger interface of the o-ring to the breech. With this mod, if you don't have a damaged piston and use good H&N 16-18gr. pellets, you will get more power and more accuracy shot after shot. Now,--if you get your face and shoulder off that butt stock before squeezing the trigger, and your scope is good, barrel clean, you now have a 80 yard small game gun. And since you are pretty much not touching the gun when shooting, (let it vibrate it self, as that is consistent with any springer), the trigger can be made lighter, (because just pulling the trigger moves the gun when you are not touching it much.), with a bit longer screw than the one that is bottomed out on the head right behind the trigger. Do bump tests. I don't think I was dieseling at all, but I have measured up to 930fps with the 16.2gr H&N Hornet, zero my scope at 40 yards, and only use 2 mill dots at 90 yards,--hitting 3" diameter targets 4 out of 5 times from standing in my door jam, (not on a bag, and moving a bit more). The bad part about that mod is, once you blue the o-ring sleeve in there, it will be a bit of work getting it out if you have to, and you will probably destroy it, and need a new one. But the mod stops the air from going around the o-ring sleeve, and you will notice a performance improvement. Do not diesel this gun. Make sure all oil is off the breech face, especially under the plastic of the mag system. That is what I missed after cleaning the barrel with a solvent, and it damage my piston seal and lost about 130fps over the next 1000 shots. I actually found that 18gr. JSB pellet in the snow that dieseled, and the skirt are blown up to .300" diameter, like a little lady in a ball room dress. That is the ID of the silencer. If you can get more consistent fps from it like I did, a 40 yard gun becomes an 80 yard gun. I can hit stuff further, but the pellet is losing a lot of energy past 80 yards.
I just bought a Gamo springer impulsively since it was only $100. The Silent Cat... Anyway I was impressed with it. Super small SD and launches the FX 10.3 grainers at about 785fps (Yes it has the stupidly advertised 1250fps using terrible PBA ammo that nobody uses). I'll do a review once it warms up a bit to give it more of a fair evaluation.
Seen a guy the other day on RU-vid and he is a serious Hunter and pester he uses Gamo air rifles but what he does is use cheap pellets and graphite powder which polishes the barrel he shoots at several hundred times and then he gets incredible results with quality pellets so it could be on and off with Gamo high-powered gas Ram Springer's might be that there's microburs in the barrel which is usually the problem with cheaper sub $200 Springer what do you think
I have a first gen gamo magnum in .22, i kinda like, that it's light and simple, the scope is ok too, i wish it had the raised cheek piece like the gun in the video. It's a good gun, to learn the proper technique, if you hold it wrong, the kick of it will throw you off target, the trigger isn't all that great. i don't need a mag on a break barrel, so thats fine with me, less to go wrong. A good buy.
It's great to see you miss the traget, just to show us that shooting that distance with a springer is difficult. I am with you on the breech needing to be steel!
Hey there. Just keeping it real. It’s easy to edit out all the missed shots but that does not show the reality of the guns we are working with. I’d rather show the full story. Cheers AGW
@@AirGunWeb Wanna shoot springers for money? Where is a competition for springers to 100 yards? I want to shoot against everybody who does YT vids, because when I get my Gen2 mag working properly, and shoot properly, (which you don't, but you will not listen to me. But I have not seen anybody do what I figured out either.), 80 and 90 yard shots in 2" groups are possible 4 out of 5 shots wit this gun. Where can I prove it to you? I have been looking for some springer competition, and have found nothing. There is a chance I could organize a shoot like that, at a club down the street from me in Michigan.
Gamo Magnum.. GR? Not "Gas Ram" eh..? So it just stands for "Great Rifle"?😁 I love classic break barrel springers. I only own a cheap Crosman Phantom in .177 - but I so do love to shoot it from time to time. The cheap 4x32 scope that came along with it has even worked well for it.
The old Phantom is a beautiful entry level rifle had mine for about 15 years but stopped shooting it when I got into real firearms now I’m getting back into pellet guns and this GAMO Magnum looks perfect, it will be sitting next to my Phantom.
The plastic of the breech is more like a cover over the steel barrel and it is rigid together. My barrel (Gen 2) locks up perfectly with no side to side or up and down movement when locked up. I have over 7 or 8 thousand shots on one of mine, and I don't see any problem with the design or manufacturing and have no problem with it, (and I am a picky guy, with a quality engineering degree). 6.88 lb gun.
I have this rifle for about two weeks and I love this gun a lot. It is powerful and precise. However it makes spring kicking noise everytime I shoot. Does anyone know if that is normal? Thanks!
Have you ever tested a hunting springer air gun that you did not like? I have never seen a bad review from you. Which hunting rifles do you think stink? Are they all great guns?
Not that we don't trust you but you should have a camera by the target or on the scope cus seen you shooting is not the same as seen the target been hit. In my opinion Gamo make some awesome air rifles. I own 2 and they are great, but I'm not that great shooting. :-)
You are not going to get long range accuracy with your cheek and shoulder pressed against the butt stock as the differing force changes the vibration dynamics. But you can keep trying. Maybe the cows will come home. :)
Something is wrong here when it comes to measuring energy: this is supposed to be The Most powerful brakebarrel gun. However, according to tests, it is significantly outperformed by SWARM (cal. 22) models which are reaching 30 foot pounds.
I'm a lot concerned that there is a 27% loss of energy from the advertised 30 ft-lb. That is unacceptable. 2 or 3 percent is acceptable, 10 %, not uncommon, 27 % would be a hard pass or a return. Manufacturers need to be held accountable to quality and truth in advertising. Why pay for a "Magnum," just to get a Higgins? 😁 I'm glad you got comp'ed a rifle, but they don't comp me.
Question I’m a right handed shooter Why are scopes set up for left handed scope shooters If I came on line with my own scope company All the current scope-designed wood be in the BIN AS these are only for left handed shooters Example windage is on the right hand side i either have to over stretch with my left hand as my RIGHT HAND IS WHERE IT SHOULD BE or I have to swap hands to get to the silly design windage dial with my right hand RIGHT HANDED SCOPE SHOOTER MOVE THE WINDAGE DIAL TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE SCOPE bring the Parallax and sit it under the elevation TURRET as for silly MOA this dose not exist I call it SOA Second of angle I’ll let you think about that one So I’m not asking get all your scopes and recycle the lot and start again IV GIVEN YOU THE SPECS FREE OF CHARGE IM GOING TO E MAIL A LOT OF MANUFACTURERS who make crap lefted scopes my range wee barrel test and design for Daystate and wee only have 1 shooter who is left handed so again why are scopes left handed ? I’m all ears
As my Dad used to tell me when I was a child, "Don't sweat the small stuff". Is it more difficult than loading up a magazine? You can adjust it easily with out pain I am sure, and if it bugs you that much, it probably distracts you from your shot. I doubt a left handed scope would sell well, and if they were made ambidextrous, (damn, I spelled that right the first time), which would be a cool idea but more expensive, only some left handers would buy it. I don't know if they can make a profit with it, or enough. But if it bugs you to the point where it affects your shooting, I would like to compete with you for money. :)
