Are you getting Orakei confused with Orc? Like all those Guys from the Two Towers were Orakei, not Orcs like can be seen in the Ranks of the Return of the King... Do You Even Know What you are Talking about? Also these are pre Sauron warping them to his Evil Minions, over Generations of Control, so they are Not Going to be Pure Evil Yet, just your Regular Sort of Evil... And they don't get Grown like Saruman did in the Two Towers, because Orcs and Orakei are Different, although they look similar except Orakei are Bigger and Tougher and have way better Moral and better at taking Orders... I don't see it weird one bit that Pre Sauron Orcs or Post Sauron Orcs Breed, and the need for them to have Maternal Instincts for their Off Spring, otherwise the only other Evolutional Option would be for them to have Numerous Large Litters to have a good enough Rate of Survival to Breed themselves... Cringe Scene, Sure, Why Not, But Pretending Orc are Orakei, that's some Lord of the Rings Noob Stuff!

It's Not Hard Stuff if you actually Watched Lord the Rings! If you think Orcs are Orakei and grown in the Ground like Saruman the White did to raise his Army for the Second Movie than you Just Shouldn't Be Talking about this Stuff! We Get it you don't like Lord of the Rings and never Watched it, but to Sit Back Pretending you were such a Fan of Lord of the Rings and Rings of Power Ruined it is just Wrong, because you don't know anything about Lord of the Rings, except you don't think Black people should be in it because you Guys are Bigots!

This is kind of why Amazon had to put so much dialogue in the first two episodes about the elf rings not being corrupted. "I was there, he never touched them." "If what you told me was true Elrond, then these rings are free of Saurons corruption." But then that leads to the next question.. If they arent corrupted by Sauron in Amazons show, then why did he just sit there and watch them be made and not doing anything? 😂

Even if orcs have families, it wouldn’t be a loving family. They are corrupted creatures. That’s something Tolkien has made creatures. Mostly the mother would be birth machines, the babies taken and only the strong will survive .

Some of the landscapes and the more convincing CGI'd architecture of their Middle Earth are pleasing. It's just a pity the rather woeful cast with their terrible dialogue gets in the way of it.

@@morgomirwd Yes, apart from the 'green wave' of the undead Oathbreakers in Return of the King -- which I never found convincing -- they were stunning effects and even now stand up really well. Plus the NZ landscape in both 'versions' is put to great effect. Agree that the effects on RoP look inferior at times. I was just being charitable as that's the only aspect of RoP that isn't lousy.

There films I grew up with, so there's a fair share of likable scenes. I'd watch Tauriel having a threesome with Kili and Legolas or Alfrid Lickspittle stuffing coins in his bra over ROP any day!

Well speaking of Thranduil...killing a defenseless prisoner is probably what he WOULDN'T DO even to an orc...Wood Elves are generally said to be "reasonable well behaved even to the worst enemies" and that the only creatures they have no mercy upon are giant spiders...and rightfully so they are demonic spawn, on the case of Orcs...they kill them when they have to, but I guess Thranduil would know of the teaching of the Wise: "But even before this wickedness of Morgoth was suspected the Wise in the Elder Days taught always that the Orcs were not ‘made’ by Melkor, and therefore were not in their origin evil. Thank you for pointing this out. Tolkien went a little back and forth between what to do with orcs. His “final” thoughts were more corrupted beings who multiplied like humans, elves, etc. but had hatred in their hearts. I think the orcs were not fully evil (after all, they were victims of evil), but they as a race of creatures had been so broken down and controlled by Evil that there was no redemption in life. As Gandalf said, “Pity?… Do not be so quick to deal out death and judgement, for even the very wise cannot see all ends.” Nice Hobbit reference too.

@kevinramsey417 honestly while Aragorn is greater in every way he isn't as close to regular men. Boromir is still a greater man than most men and closer to his men. I would rather serve Boromir and have Aragorn be the distant king.

And there are some who are faithful servants of Sauron, Grishnaks calls himself trusted messenger, he even seems like 'secret police' type, many orcs wanted to win their master's praise and rewards given to them ("'... Then you'll fly off with our prisoners, and get all the pay and praise in Lugbúrz, and leave us to foot it as best we can through the Horse-country.") They ARE evil, they are doing evil, they are horribly corrupt and depraved beings, they can be pitiable but it doesn't excuse their doings when they were on their own....and that was doing the same thing they did as servants of the Dark Lord perpetuating the same violence, orc tribes of the Misty Mountains had 'petty realms' of their own, but they were far from peaceful, and they hated other folk and often were hateful towards each other, feuds and treacheries among their own, lots of infighting etc. when they are slaves of the Dark Lord they oftne get dominated in their minds and wills and so become even more like instruments of destruction in their hands...they can rebel and think for themselves when they are not dominated and mind controlled through the projection of the Dark Lord's will but still they often gravitate towards evil, this is the only thing they know.

​@@ecksearoh6283 That doesn't make them pacifists though. My interpretation is that orcs don't always like or fancy what Sauron orders them to do, however they do enjoy violence and fighting. Orcs left on their own would probably form raiding bands or slave societies. Goblin Town is a good example.

The only person that would have a dark elf appearance is Sauron. Orcs are always described as elves that were tortured beyond recognition. Their entire being and souls had been twisted. Because evil cannot create anything new only distorts and destroys in Tolkien's words.

Elrond never even claimed the title of High King. He’s just a Lord. There’s no High King of the elves after Gil-Galad. It would be possibly out of sorts to declare himself a king over his brother’s men as he chose to be categorized as an elf. He did propose and support that Aragorn become the High King of men, though. Elrond could certainly have claimed the High King of elves title if he had wanted. But Elrond’s not into that Noldor sh*t; plus, of course, he’s just humble like that.

While I'm in no way trying to defend the show, interesting little bit about orcs being completely evil - Tolkien himself wrestled with the idea of orcs being complete evil or possibly redeemable for quite a while during his life and the creation of the legendarium. The issue is that as a devout catholic, Tolkien had trouble with the notion of pure evil as it went against his own personal beliefs and so in his eyes every sentient being had the underlying potential of being redeemed or atleast all lacked total darkness - Sauron was twisted into becoming evil but was at his core someone who sought order, organization, and crafting which he learned from Aule; however his want of order became an obsession of power to achieve that order. Even Morgoth is questioned as being true evil despite seemingly being darkness incarnate because as he was of the Valar, he was also made in image of a piece of Eru Illuvatar.

Some of the set designs are quite nice. The dwarf characters actually are well-acted and have some decent scenes--if the whole show was that good, it'd at least be watchable.
