If you only knew why.. these days they can’t make good movies because of the award shows and organizations. ALL These companies requires ANY movie that wants to get nominated for any award to have a feminist message, positive LGBT messaging, at least one main character that is a POC, one that is openly LGBT, and a strong female lead. That’s why almost every movie that comes out today is so bland, safe and uninspired. We will NEVER see movies like this again from Hollywood. Besides from the occasional hit from Hollywood from here on out anything that’s good will have to come from independent film studios that don’t care about “being in the club“.
The effects have been topped. But that’s it. The rest of the list stands as best ever. Most of the grandeur of LOTR trilogy wasn’t effects, it was good direction. Real armies of extras, not CGI. Finding great locations and filming in a wide, broad scope to make it seem as big as it is.
What perfect casting! Peter Jackson was able to get two magnificent actors (amongst many!) for these crucial roles. Christopher Lee's voice, even at 89 when he filmed The Hobbit scenes, still sends shivers down our spines. Brilliant!
Christopher Lee was perfect for Saruman because both he and the character wanted nothing more than to be Gandalf. It's a masterful piece of irony if you think about it; because he was tragically denied his dream role, he perfectly embodied Saruman's envious nature and created a far more captivating character for the audience than he had any right to be. I always wonder if he noticed himself, but God, I miss his performances.
@@scrubbub6162 actually Jackson asked him too, Lee was too old to take on the role of Gandalf because of the demanding sword fighting and horse back riding.
Elrond: Gandalf, for four hundred years we have lived in peace, a hard-won, watchful peace. Gandalf: Are we, are we at peace? Trolls are coming down from the mountains, they're raiding villages, destroying farms. Orcs have attacked us on the road! The Matrix is glitching like crazy!
The elves are weird though, as they seem to be a secluded and segregated race (seems that way in the movies, haven't read the books), so they might not be aware of these issues, which wouldn't surprise me.
Ha! Someone else on some video pointed out the similarity between Saruman & Dooku: two very powerful wizards who were once good, but soon corrupted, and turned evil as they lust for power.
@@mikespearwood3914 I mean attack of the clones and union of the two towers were released the same year. So he probably had to work on both sets back to back
I think by the time the white council gathered together in the Hobbit, Saruman already knew of Sauron and he thought he could take a hold of him, thinking Sauron was too weak to challenge him. However, Sauron, as the master deceiver he was, was the one who actually took control of saruman. Also, as we saw in Lotr, had not Rohan and Gondor held fiercely Isengard and Mordor forces, Middle Earth could have fallen into Sauron's grasps, even with Sauron without the Ring. Just I thought
Rohan and Gondor would have fallen if not for the involvement of the fellowship. Both the steward of gondor and Rohan's King Edoras weren't exactly in right frame of mind before gandalf and the others were involved. Both gondor and rohan would have fallen by both Isegard and Mordor rather easily. With or without the ring, Middle Earth would have fallen but it was only through good fortune that things went as they did.
The original book varies from the movie here. Saruman was UNKNOWINGLY corrupted by Sauron. He used the Seeing Stones to gather intel on Sauron and Sauron began to influence him, playing on his jealousy and ambition for power. Saruman had NEVER INTENDED to serve Saron. He wanted to capture the One Ring and use it to CHALLENGE Sauron for supremacy of Middle Earth. This is how the movie and the book departed in their storylines.
@@swaghauler8334 you got it right. :) And for the original commenter... Saruman was already corrupted, maybe not because of Sauron, but because of greed that befalls on all beings.
superb acting from Christopher Lee. its really an injustice to him and a pity that this scene was not shown in the main movie. I am so glad it is available here so everyone can view this scene and his superb acting
Well the Balrog had a pretty good chance at defeating Gandalf, but he powered through (what I think because,) because it has just woken up. But yeah Gandalf really pulled it off.

Lord of The rings trilogies.....still the only one movie....preferred by me.....i saw it always no stopping and he still fantastic cinematographic works....Jackson and his team still the best producer in the world.....thanks.
gandalf:the next quest, dear hobbits, will make the first seem like a brisk run through Mordor..Hobbits:we're going to costco for toilet paper and sanitizer?

Well you are in for a surprise there is a reason why all the LOTR and the hobbit's book are all bestseller and so are the movie very popular and made millions of money
*"Smoke rises from the mountain of doom. The hour grows late and Gandalph the Grey rides to Isingard seeking my counsel."* My fav Sarumon line. Such power and authority in that sentence.
This is where saruman was seduced by Sauron into the darkness. It only took Sauron to reveal himself fully for Saruman to fall fully into his allegience. You can see in his face when hes being banished, a face of fearful awe
now there is something i could love....in a lees 'plot opera' based ltor... such badass actors.... though ,gandalf.... obviously 100 lvl wizard , and 100 lvls in warrior ontop of that....but little in rouge or hunter traits ..but a chunk of bard and other 'social' skills on the side... the kind of character that be a rad boss one way or another ;)
Yes and no. Set out to beat him with his own weaponry or other dark methods, but like j.r.r. Sought to teach us, darkness corrupts all who use it. Saruman thought he could dominate and trick sauron after communing with him, and always with the end goal of replacing him as dark power and ruling always marvelled him.. as saruman had dominated so many others with his voice alone, he thought he could do the same with now weakened sauron, but it was sauron who tricked and dominated saruman, appealing to his pride, insecurity, jealousy and vanity to make him almost unrecognisable in the end.
Hello there! Mae Govannen! This video shows a few examples that support my theory that the Istari are Force users😉😆: Saruman, commanding the storm over the MM: 'Cuiva nala Carnirasse! Nai yarvaxae rasselya, Bow to the might of Curinur!(Translation: 'You think you slick, up there on the Redhorn? It's over, I shall have the High Ground! Bow to the might of [aka Saruman]) Gandalf: 'From the lowest dungeon to the *highest peak* , I fought him, the Balrog of Morgoth. Until at last... It was over, I had the High Ground! I threw down my enemy and smote his ruin upon the mountainside.' Saruman, atop Orthanc: 'I will not be held prisoner here... It is over, I have the High Ground!' Grima, in response to this last: 'He is too dangerous to be left alive!' (I'm about to end this Maia's whole career!) 'REEEEEEEEEE' Grima, suffering an extremely recent arrow wound, briefly gains the High Ground, then nope.
Even before he "turned" Saruman seemed dickish to Gandalf. Maybe he was starting to become corrupted by the time of the Hobbit? I also read or heard something about him always being jealous of Gandalf? Insecurities?
Be great to see more of the origins of the arm of the dead this who dwel in the mountain i be a really good TV show or film please do this it would be amazing
