Millions fought for the independence of India. But the world only knows one of them by name, always, and that's Ghandi. There's a reason for that, he didn't just fight for India, he fought for all of mankind.
"Never be afraid to raise your voice for honesty and truth and compassion against injustice and lying and greed. If people all over the world... would do this, it would change the earth." ― William Cuthbert Faulkner
I think Gandhi would not be surprised about the divided subcontinent. But I do think he’d be upset about how they hate each other and threaten each other with nuclear death.
Ambition is a character trait that describes people who are driven to better their station or to succeed at lofty goals. It has been categorized both as a virtue and as a vice. The use of the word "ambitious" in William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar (1599), for example, points to its use to describe someone who is ruthless in seeking out positions of power and influence: The noble Brutus Hath told you Caesar was ambitious: If it were so, it was a grievous fault. Today, however, someone may be described as "ambitious" who has more benevolent aspirations: someone who has lofty goals, drive, initiative, tenacity, and the pursuit of excellence. Aristotle encountered the same ambiguity in Greek, where φιλότιμος (ambition) and ἀφιλότιμος (lack of ambition) each had positive or negative connotations depending on the context. He was unable to discover a good term that unambiguously described the desirable golden mean for this trait: "as there is no recognized term for the observance of the mean, the extremes fight, so to speak, for what seems an empty place".
The meaning of the response was meant to convey his goals were practically attainable rather than lofty dreams. In response to the somewhat emphatic way Walker used the word "ambitious".
This is why ghandi was awesome. His only real mission was to kick the English out of India and return control of his country to it's people. The same thing we had to do here in America. You have to respect him for what he did.
No it wasn't. Millions fought for the independence of India. But the world only knows one of them by name, always, and that's Ghandi. There's a reason for that, he didn't just fight for India, he fought for all of mankind.

All Mr. Gandhi did was walk around, speak empty words, and command others. Others had to do his work too. No wonder no one liked him and his statue was moved away too, that it wouldn’t resemble his malicious way of commanding others!
