These kids just don't think they'll get caught or, if they do, they think they'll be handling what happens. They create some amazing fantasies. Every one of them has this idea that when the police arrive they'll take one down with a single punch, fly kick the other, dodge all the bullets and be so tough the police wouldn't dare come after them. In crime they think that they are so stealthy that no-one can see them. One kid I looked after had his name tattooed on his neck. His full name... When the lawyer showed him the photo in high definition of not only his face but of his tattoo he told them, "Nah. That's not me." With a completely straight face. During sentencing the judge told him he wasn't smart enough to be a criminal and that anyone would have known to cover his neck tattoo. When he was released, he did the exact same crime. He was caught 4 more times thanks to that tattoo. He's now 23 and hasn't committed a crime since he was 17. The secret? Getting him a good boss. No... not someone who says feeling words. Someone with a beer gut, a bald head, tattoos and with simple rules to follow. "Show up on time, tie your shoes and tell me if you stuff up. What we know is that kids are stupid between 15 and 25. Punishment doesn't stop crime except for from normal citizens. If punishment worked the USA would be the safest place in the world. The countries where prisons are secure places for rehabilitation. Guards have multiple years training... not a week. Also.. name the juvenile prisons something like, "Cute Kittens Home for Boys Who Need Cuddles." It really would stop kids bragging about being locked up.
