She says "This is the possibility IN the wound. How close are they?" (meaning happiness and sadness). Shes saying when you cry, the difference between "happy" and "sad" tears is not something you need to determine. You don't need to departmentalize or categorize everything based on happiness and sadness because really all they are is different perception of the same emotion.
Very well put! When I’m happy, there’s always a tinge of sadness behind it because I know the good times won’t last. And when I’m sad, there is an unconscious joy about being able to feel deep sorrow.
