Gangrel on How The Brood Was Formed 

The fact that Gangrel knew he was supposed to push Edge and Christian to be bigger stars than himself and did it anyway speaks volumes to his dedication and loyalty to the business. Completely selfless and honorable! Much respect for Gangrel 🤘

Loved the brood as a kid. Soon as those lights went off and hearing that heavy breathing with the whisperers, and then that beat drops was just iconic!! Great times and memories! Whoever produced that music truly out did himself

they really took a huge miss here. Blade became extremely popular so 2000s was basically the year of the vampires.

Gangrel is like David from the Lost Boys. I guess Edge would be Micheal and Christian might be the Alex Winter vampire that got staked by the frog brothers. It’s crazy how the WWE buries talent that’s way over if they weren’t a part of their game plan. It’s probably why hardly anyone watches it today, and why so many got laid off this year

The Brood is still one of the absolute coolest stables in wrestling. Every time I heard the exhale-like sound, goosebumps would breakout down my arms and neck! Gangrel with your impaler DDT, fucking awesome!

Without The Brood we may have never got to see Edge. If they were struggling with a storyline for Edge who knows what kind of character we may have got. I say THANK YOU to Gangrel 1st for 1 of the greatest factions ever and 2nd for possibly saving Edge from a terrible storyline that could have killed his career.

Man, I LOVE Gangrel! This dude is somehow so knowledgeable and humble at the same time. And the Brood just had the best look and theme of any faction. Period.

What made The Brood such a great stable to me was how into they seemed to be to their gimmicks and it instantly made it feel real and authentic, such a shame it didn't last longer

WWE has a chance to make this glorious if they bring Gangrel at least for a time and make him part of this story use the fact that Edge isn't the real leader of the brood and Gangrel could be use to mess Edge's win against Rollins and extend the story for a whole arc. This way Gangrel can come as an ally to Edge but at the end stab Edge on the back cost him the match with a promo at the end how dare you using the brood power for your personal gain i am the brood and all the glory should be mine. Next Edge beats Gangrel he acknowledge Edge as the new leader passing the 🔦 to Edge and then Edge with all the power of the brood goes forward to beat Rollings at Mania. I mean ill do it like that. But guess WWE will be so stupid and not revive the brood and use Edge to move some brood merch. There are some talent there that could join the brood just like Edge and Cristian did but this time Edge is the leader. Gangrel will be always the Elder Vampire king.

Awesome to hear a story like this. The attitude era is a very memorable part of my childhood and the Brood is one of my favorite groups in the WWF. I always use Gangrel in WWF SmackDown! The entrance theme, the looks, the move set. Underrated wrestler. Great to see you doing well, Vampire Warrior. ✌️

Even though The Brood only lasted for 8 months, it had a lasting effect on the future of pro wrestling. Without the 3 of u, Edge & Christian wouldn’t be where they are today. The Hardys wouldn’t be where they are today. We wouldn’t have gotten the feud between E & C, Hardys, & Dudleys which created some of the best tag team matches of all time. Whether u realize it or not, Gangrel, ur decision to join WWF when u did, made a lasting impact on pro wrestling. As a huge fan of The Brood, I just wanna say thank u for what u’ve contributed over the years, & I hope to see u back on TV in the near future.

I remember the feud between you and Edge was very vague and never really explained aside from some sort of “past” or “history.” Perhaps a “gothic past?” I got a refresh a few years back when I had the WWE Network and did a binge watch of the first year of Sunday Night Heat. I also never knew until then that you were billed as being from Santa Cruz, CA.

Now that he's older, he could probably do a version of Gangrel in sunglasses & a business suit like Udo Kier as Dragonetti in the first Blade movie.

Pretty much Vampire The Masquerade peaked right at that time, they had a spin off show from their game, Gangrel was one of the vampire clans. Obviously there were ties, just curious if there was anything financially going on.

I rewatched the 95-00 last year before Peacock got WWE network and you are right Gangrel. The entire original Brood is a whole 8 months or so. Fantastic concept and as a teen back then we figured you got all your stuff from Hot Topic as a joke because that was like the stereotypical goth hangout at the mall and to hear you say it is funny. I wasn't into the goth scene but the entrance, all the Brood music, and the entire gimmick was solid. Plus either way you have this weird status of being the father of E&C and Matt and Jeff which in retrospect is pretty wild. The Zoomers and younger millennials are too young to know how edgy that whole gimmick was for the time. Taker was already pushing a lot of buttons especially after crucifying Austin and the whole way they referred to you drinking the blood as a "red liquid" you can tell VKM wanted to still be a kids show and push adult themes without getting too much heat from parental groups. I thought you guys made sense it's better than pretending a dead guy called "the Undertaker" is somehow a good guy. At least with a vampire coming clearly from Hell you know we are dealing with a "bad guy". Cool concept and you can tell it's good because you're right I love Edge and Christian they were "my tag team" of the 3 TLC teams but I always associated them with the Brood more than anyone else.

The Brood was original, unique, and it’s honestly a mistake on Vince McMahon’s part by not getting behind it. If the Brood were to debut in todays era, I believe the Brood would be more over and more popular. Not saying the Brood wasn’t popular because here we are how many years later still talking about it? The Brood was over.

All I remember from the beginning was you saying "the blood of gangrel flows through you" to edge in the ring

Everyone knows the entrance/theme music is top five of all time but I have to say the titantron video they used was pretty cool too. It was like a film projector that was glitching out and would occasionally have different gothic symbols. I always liked when wrestlers had titantron videos that weren't really videos/highlight reels like Kane's dark storm or had tons of symbolism in them like Undertaker and his Ministry days. Made them more mysterious. I honestly think WWF/E's presentation is what made WCW look second-rate by comparison. The video packages for feuds and wrestlers as well as entrances were distinct and full of flavor that gave that final injection of personality.

You know, I don't think Gangrel will agree with me, but personally, I think the talent in the Brood was better than the talent in the Freebirds, sure Freebirds got to do more, but I think all three Brood members evidentially had more potential, I mean just look at what Edge and Christian are doing today when they are given the opportunity to shine and compete on the highest level in their respective companies.

iirc, Christian just showed up with Gangrel and was introduced as Edge's brother. at the time, the 3 were not really given some mic promos to expand on this angle --- as far as i know.

The Brood should’ve been around longer, and I don’t think it would’ve overshadow Edge if you all were in a little longer.

Always enjoyed the dark characters/villains growing up. Undertaker, Kane, Mankind, The Brood, Demolition, LoD and Raven's Flock. The Brood are amazing and I still love the entrance and the theme.

Gangrel is one of my favorites. The vampire gimmick is in my top 5 favorite gimmicks of all time. Edge came in and we were told that there was an obvious past with Edge and Gangrel but they never said what and they were feuding for a short time. At Breakdown on September 27, 1998 is when Christian showed up and he aligned himself with Gangrel. Not too long after this is when Edge joined Gangrel and Christian and formed The Brood. Undertaker and The Ministry started abusing Christian and Edge and Gangrel had enough so the Brood attacked the Ministry and that was their exit from the Ministry.

That Impaler DDT used to scare the crap out of me. That looked like a devastating finisher. That was one of the only finishers that scared me. That, the Stunner, the Rock Bottom, and the Pedigree. I used to play as Gangrel in every game he was in starting with WWF Attitude. I loved it when they added him.

Dude it was the music when your guys music hit oh my God it put Goosebumps on you. Then you see these 3 dudes just come Edge and Christian slide into the ring You just strolling down with that cup it was wow.

It’s interesting that you mentioned The Freebirds as an inspiration behind the group idea because Cornette told a story on his channel about how he and Kevin Dunn got into an argument after Cornette compared The Brood to The Freebirds on television and Dunn got angry at him claiming that using that comparison made The Brood sound dated.

They really weren’t in touch with 90s pop culture. Vampires were all the rage at that time with Buffy, Interview with the Vampire, From dusk til dawn, Blade, Underworld.
