My favorite part about the internet is how we can listen to this song right now in 2024 and talk about it with other people like it just came out today
was in college when the pandemic hit, so i went home and didn’t have shit to do all day. every night I’d wait till my house went to sleep, go out on the porch with the dog, smoke, and bump music off my phone’s speakers. vividly remember looking out at an empty road, in an empty town, in a time where everything was perfectly still. nothing going on the next day, or the day after that, or that…just staring at a dead street, smoking weed, listening to this song, night after night. Always will bring me back to a weird era, and a weird feeling that i doubt i’ll come across again, for good or bad
First year i really enjoyed. Was like a reset for the brain. Made you really appreciate all the things in life and all the other worries were on slow mode. 2021 was a bitch tho.
This sounds like everyday for the last 7 months continuously for me especially on the back porch with my dogs and I’d be playing other songs dance and sing
Memphis, Georgia, and Texas from 90-09 is so underrated. The production on the beats alone was so ahead of it's time, we're just now seeing mainstream attention for trance-ish lo-fi beats with delay and distorted bass... Memphis did it 30 years ago.
Much respect to the Rough States! As much as the East and West has brought us, the Midwest/South/Southwest has been criminally overlooked when it comes to banger music 😭
First time hearing this. Born mid 80’s grew up on 90’s rap and alternative, can’t believe I’ve never heard this. Easily top 5 song to smoke and chill to.👍🏻👍🏻🍻
This song has a special place with me and my boy, going to hockey practice banging this in highschool now banging this at the skate park and banging this while passing the bong. Definitely a song that’s never leaving my play list even once I’m over my degenerate ways
Song always reminds me as a young kid, 12-13 years old, smoking phillie blunts in my homies garage on the next block. Waiting for the day I'll be able to smoke one w him again! RestInPeace Paul, miss you brother!
Still been bumping this song for a few years now. Anytime i get stressed i just lay back n close my eyes thinkin bout them late 90s and early 2000 vibes. Comfort song 100%
Ahh remember bumping this in my car I was around 18ish always either no limit, triple six,S.PM,Lifestyl and ofcousrse DJ Screw.Being a teen in the 90s was some of my best memories soooo much amazing music and albums you didnt have to skip songs up to early 2000's.
Totally agree. The 90s were legit. Country cruising, smokin, listening to full album cds and some burnt cds as well. Cellphones basically nonexistent. Man I miss the good old days.
Been listening since release!! Coming across this CD in Canada was a rare opportunity I'm glad I didn't sleep on. Bought this album, Homicidal Lifestyle and Tear Yo Club Down. Much love Gangsta Pat your music has been my go to playlist when I blaze for a long time!
I have been a fan of your music for 16 years I listened to it so much I can go along with every word I literally used to put you on repeat, I love this song so much always one of my favorites but your whole youtube channel is full of my favorites. I watched your Biography and it really was cool to hear your story. Much Love!
Gangsta Pat ❤️❤️❤️ wow I just realized you liked my comment and responded to to it I'm really excited and happy to get a comment back from you as I said I've been a fan for so long! 😁 ❤️ Thanks so much!
Straight masterpiece. Idk if people understand that Pat is a musical genius who produced these incredible songs and played the live instrumentation. Just incredible.
I remember being a freshman in high school '97.....my boy's older sister's boyfriend was bumpin this album....get high & jam.....deadly versus was good too.
I hope Pat is getting some royalties thanks to all these 2010-20s plays - this song is definitely one of the reasons why I pay this youtube ransom money every month
I heard this song for the first time on a birthday CD my friend made for me in 2006... I always thought it was Bone and have been searching for it since 06... Never found it til now 7/21/21👌🏽👸🏽😜🥰🥰
@@KingLexus This song definitely has Bone vibes I ain’t neva heard another song by this artist but this one… THIS particular song reminds ME of Bone… my comment was a sweet memory I had in life why tf ppl always gotta hate🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
1985 guy here! Had the greatest fkn life growing up with this and other music while smoking, drinking hanging out with my boys with no responsibilities, just chillin and living life baby!!!!!! Best days of my life because there was no smartphones & if you wanted to see your homie/girl, you called their house phone or went and knocked on their door!! 💯💯🔥🌳🍻💨🫡
Pat aint underground. He was the first Memphis rap artist to get a national contract. All his records went mainstream. He born and raised in Memphis but lived in Los Angeles a few years when he was young so that may explain his West Coast influence.
I'm old school, I'm like this song taking me back to my childhood for some reason, then it hit me, he snuck it past everyone, but I caught it. He sampled Luther Vandross make me a believer song. I get the best of both worlds.
My bro n law put me on gangsta pat way back in 98 I'm glad he did. This album was fire I always like him he reminded me of Three 6 mafia mixed with Bone Thugs n Harmony 🔥
He definitely influenced 3 6 mafia since they grew up together and gangsta pat got a major deal first out of everyone in Memphis. Gangsta pat and psycho(the other rapper on this song) would let DJ Paul and Lord Infamous record music in his studio before they had a legit studio since they were use to making music in their bed room till they had enough money to use better equipment!
Shit this got stepped on back in the day it was underground. You wouldn't hear this on the radio or MTV... not even BET. Only your true homies bumped it.
