Supplies:
Shears.
Tape measure.
Optional: small glass to use as a riser.
(48) 55in strands of your main color cord.
(2) 35in stands of secondary color cord.
(1) 48in strand of secondary color cord.
•Starting with (2) 35in cords create an X, crossing in the center of both cords.
•Add your (1) 48in cord to the center leaving a little extra length on one side.
•Create a 6 strand crown knot by overlapping each strand over the next and looping the last strand through the first loop you created.
•Pulling (6) cords simultaneously outward so your knot tightens inward.
•Using the longest cord, create a single half hitch knot around remaining cords.
•Repeat that process until you have created (8)half hitch knots and cords are about the same length.
•Spread out like a wheel with (stem) pointing up, create one final 6 strand crown knot. (Pass each cord over the next, looping 6th cord through the first loop.) pulling inward.
•Next using the (48) 55in cords add (8) cords to each (filler) cord using double half hitch knots.
•Starting in the center of one of the triangle sections add alternating square knots for 5 rows, leaving out the (2) cords closest to your filler cord.
•You should now have a circular shape with two strands available on either side of your filler cord.
•Using the two inside cords on either side of your filler cord, take the left cord under, back over and through the loop and again, to create a double half hitch knot.
•Repeat using the right cord, taking it under your filler cord, back over and through the loop.
•You should have created two double half hitch knots around your filler cord.
•Now create a square knot underneath, pulling tight.
(You will see your project start to curve downward(
•Repeat on all remaining filler cord sections completing the 5th row circulation.
•Using alternating square knots, create row 6 circulation. (You will not be doing double half hitch knots around filler cord for even numbered rows.)
•Repeat alternating square knot pattern circulation so that you have created (11) rows total.
•Starting with row 12, using same alternating square knot pattern create a reverse triangle for 3 rows.
•Repeat previous step in all quadrants.
Now we will connect each reverse triangle.
•Starting at your filler cord, create two double half hitch knots around your filler cord, this time dropping the two inner cords and using the two outer cords.
•Gather all 5 cords (including filler cord strand) and secure using a double half hitch knot. Trim the ends and tuck up inside.
•Pick up the next two cords from both the left and right side.
•Create a square knot pulling everything in tight. Trim ends and tuck inside.
•Repeat that process two more times, DO NOT TRIM THE CORD ON THE 3rd SQUARE KNOT.
•Repeat that process in al quadrants, connecting all 6 triangles together.
••Lastly, with the cord left over from each 3rd square knot, create one more circulation of square knots. Now trimming and tucking up inside. .
