Just got mine from amazon today. Even after watching all the reviews and reading ratings. I'm still shocked at how well made, beefy and smooth this knife is in my hand
I got one of these today, delivered from Amazon....$20. Its pretty much perfect for the money. I spent about an hour working it (opening and closing it - getting the metal to metal locking surfaces to mate better) after oiling it up...just a little tight, nothing to complain about for the money. Perfectly centered, sharp enough for utility, feels solid, looks solid. The Axis lock springs are a little stiff, but with use and break in, it will flip open a little better. I think the best way to open it for tactical use is the reverse grip shake out - or gravity flip - it comes out fast. It is heavy...so that's that...but this knife is pretty much perfect for adding to kits, keeping in the vehicle....its a no brainer purchase for the money. I will try carrying it in pocket to see how the weight is....nothing has topped the Endura 4 and Delica 4 for daily carry thus far, but again for $20 or less...this knife is a must purchase. I may be ordering a couple other Ganzo knives to check them out, but I think this model may be the best bet after researching many reviews and forums for info on the brand.
This is exactly why I watch your channel. You show us all the options. Great deal. I like these folders. They are cheap enough that I can loose it, break it and painlessly replace it. .
Thanks for the review. Never tried Gearbest before, but i like your vids and gave them and Ganzo a shot. Got the G722OR (same but with liner lock i believe) from them. Super impressed for the price. I stripped it down, sanded the washers, evened up the centering and sharpened it to shaving sharp. Nice blade, thanks again for the review!
seems like serious bang for your buck, nice work finding these bad boys. Just grabbed an Ontario model1, formerly the RAT1 but next time i'm shopping a budget folding i'm grabbing one. Good vid as usual bro, keep it real.
I took this recommendation, and glad I did. It took a month or more to arrive via the Gearbest order... though in fairness other items I ordered at the same time arrived much sooner. This was transported across Asia by yak, I guess. I got a G720-G, and it arrived decently sharp. The edge was easily improved with a quick touch-up. It just arrived, so I haven't used it yet, but I am greatly pleased with it. Thanks!
New Ping Legend Welcome! I'm glad it worked out well! Yeah, the shipping takes a month for me as well, but the only guy selling it on Amazon also listed shipping as a month, but for twice the cost.
i just got 717, 720, 727 and sanrenmu 7010 today. the quality of these are all pretty nice actually. the 7010 is pretty small. i like the thick liners. instead of adjusting the pivots im just gonna flip the hell out of them and they should break in nicely
except for the locking system I found the Cold Steel Monster folders very similar to my 4 720's, am down three since I handed them off as gifts. Just a thought to compare the 720 to the lion steel and the ultimate hunter , 4 max, ad10? blade thickness, edge contour, ease of use and Monster sized
You're a brave man for risking the never-ending clone debate...I might get one since I don't have the money for a SR1 right now but I want to see how it feels in hand
+Aderyn People are trying to push their views on others by even mentioning that they "discourage people from buying" and all that bullshit...let people buy what they want and shut the fuck up...I say
there are so many good ones out there just watch a few. find a basic one using sharpening stones or sand paper and practice on some dull cheap knives you don't care about. you'll screw it up the first few times till you get it down.
Poor mans sr-1 . Now i dont have to scratch up my sr1. Never would have seen this one without the review. Thanks for the video. Curious to see what happens when benchmade sees this lock..
Chance Howard Ganzo does some manufacturing for Gerber and other companies (That's why Gerber and Ganzo multitools use the same lock). I wouldn't be surprised if Benchmade buys parts from Ganzo.
In my experience ganzos 440c is pretty decent. I've liked it more than kershaws 8cr in some instances. Steel can be subjective, but just putting my opinion on this vid for people to see. You can't always go by what you think you know and there are always gonna be variances company to company! Definitely worth taking a chance at 17 bucks, guys! Thanks for the vid.
everydayjonny Yeah, 440C is not a bad steel. People get the wrong idea about it because a lot of junk knives will claim to be 440c or they will just say 440, but with a good heat treatment such as Entrek Knives have, it is still a good steel.
I happen to love benchmade's 440c. I mean, for all we know this could be 8cr since China is notorious for just stamping blades whatever and the difference could be in heat treat. I have a g716 I love though and I'm going to get one of these as a gift for a friend after seeing your video. Keep it, up man. Great channel.
I grabbed one of these knives in green a little while back from Ebay and I did not get the price that you did. I believe I payed around $23. I agree with your comments to the tee. Mine came a tad sharper than yours with good fit and finish all around. I don't mind the weight at all. Can't beat it for the money. Nice video explaining it against the likes of Lionsteel. It is a nice budget alternative for sure.
now that's value. Since these are so cheap, I think it would be cool to see some destructive testing of these. That would be valuable testing for those who question the durability of these ultra cheap knives.
+LeonardoValente Buy a wet stone and start buy watching videos how to use one and get a few junk knives and learn...its really not to difficult...and its relaxing
I really like this knife, but it's still too big, looking for a smaller one with a similar design and build if anyone has a recommendation pls lemme know :)
Hi there! The Ganzo 720 really looks like a Lionsteel with a Benchmade Axis-Lock! ;-) But for 17 Bucks (in Germany:Import from China 22€)! :-D A must have! I will order! 440 C is a good steel! Similar to China Steel 8CR13MoV! It's easy to sharpen and stays good sharp! thx for the Video! Greetings André P.S. the Ganzo 720 will be a good knife for pimping/customization!
+Fit & Finished I watched a video of this guy hard testing a Tenatious and Rat 1 and they both broke...he has another video of him hard testing the Ganzo G704 and he looks like hes trying to break it and it holds up to the abuse...even loves it
Just ordered 1 in green looks like a good beater EDC blade for the $$$. Like the implementation of benchmade a axis lock good review. Stay safe and sharp
i love me some lionsteel and god knows i looked into these ganzos, but i never ever had luck with this company, and no matter what models they come out with i will never buy one again. they dameged my trust in their products
The lock on this knife and other Chinese "axis lock" knives is very stiff. The Ganzo g704's axis lock is easier to actuate than this model, it's highly recommended.
WeAllJuggleKnives Great thanks. My fasttech orders have been taking about 2 weeks, so I am used to the slow shipping. Please tell me, were the 3 in this review sourced from there or elsewhere?
Pietro B I ordered the green one about 10 days ago and it still hasn't shipped. I inquired a few times through their crappy messaging system and they tell me out of stock and then they say it's shipping now but no shipping yet. They won't give me my money back and keep saying "we ship, we ship". I had to contact them first to see what was up or I would not have known it was out of stock. So far a crappy experience.
I think loyalty to a company or a designer ( that doesnt have any loyalty ) is keeping many knife reviewers from being honest and loyal to the consumer and ignoring these good well made Chinese knives .a lot of reviewers are making unfounded remarks about the quality of these knife materials ( what it is the same material with a different name ) . When they make these unfounded claims about Chinese knives and Chinese knife makers it makes me question their honesty when reviewing other knives .
I agree. A lot of reviewers are very dismissive about these knives, and they end up looking biased. Ganzos are popular all around the world, especially in countries where US knives are not available or are very expensive. I have heard from countless viewers in UK, Germany, and elsewhere, who have used Ganzos extensively, and the majority have said they are solid for the price.
WeAllJuggleKnives far more solid than they cost .if you think of the value of knives in America . I m all for some on making a buck .thats he name of the game .but 10-100x over production cost is far out of line .and taking unfounded shots at the Chinese is out of line as well . Like saying we dont know if this is real d2 because its from China .when we dont know its real d2 even when its made in America .some people can tel the difference in steel performance .but not many .so they dont really know .and because and American company wrote d2 on doesnt mean anything more than it does on a Chinese knife .and then Taiwan is ok but only because an American company imports it . I just got a rat 1 and rat 2v and both were cull units out of box .i could fix the rat 1 but the rat 2 has pivot slop and lock slop un-fixable .( send it back .its not worth my time to send it back ) Good vids !good info !
+WeAllJuggleKnives , I am a dork. I went to BestGear.com instead of GearBest.com because it just makes more sense in terms of English. GearBest.com does seem to have them in stock. Just out of curiosity, how do you rate the Ganzo against the Elans and Sanrenmus?
If you don't like the GANZO laser etching on the blade, all you have to do is soak the blade in some CLR for around 30 minutes to 1 hour works wonders !
Tomas Sandberg Similar but different dimensions, different locking mechanism, different materials, etc. I have the G720-O. Great knife, regardless of price. Mine was hair cutting sharp, right out of the box. You can take some weight away by skeletonizing the liners.
I got ripped off $100.00 by amazon for knives that didn't come and i was not refunded . I ordered a few knives some that didnt come i was refunded .but not all that didnt come . And what with the the items ordered not coming .that was one oder had 9 knives the others were single knives all from different places but all the orders didn't come . I don't use amazon and i don't recommend anyone else does either .i don't do business with thieves .
When you are paying 180 dollars for a knife remember you are paying that much amount of money just for the high labour costs and unfair company profits. Your knife is just 20 dollars in making ok. Go for China made knives, they have low labour costs and low profit margin. That's how you Capture world market.
rymic72 THAT's the only thing? Not the fact that it's a blatant Lionsteel / Benchmade ripoff? Why don't you just go get a Husky folding box cutter at Home Depot? Cuz obviously you don't give a shit about quality knives or the companies that produce them
Rasco The folder in the video is a quality knife. What sets it apart from other knives is that it is a clone/ripoff. That doesn't that the fact that it would perform as a quality knife.
Even if the materials and workmanship are adequate, the design is stolen and the locking mechanism is stolen. Don't you care about that? There are a thousand $20 knives that "will perform" so why support a chinese clone operation??
And I agree, you can tell yourself the materials are legit, but you don't really know. You're gonna trust a company who rips off Lionsteel and Benchmade to be honest with you?? lol
Congrats on your $17 knockoff knife. Definitely a knife worth making a video review of! >_> Kershaw makes a million "heavy duty budget folding knives" so why spend $20 on some swap meet knockoff when you can get a Freefall of a Clash for the same price??
Rasco I've reviewed a lot of Kershaw knives, one of my favorite companies, so there is no need to preach to the choir. As for this knife definitely being worth making a review of, I couldn't agree more, 3000+ views in the first day or two.
I already unsubbed but if getting trailer park teenagers to watch your videos is the goal, keep on reviewing $17 knockoff knives. Maybe you could go down to Tijuana and pick of a fake Rolex and then do a video review talkin bout what a "great value" it is compared to a real one. 15yo me would totally watch that video.
It's not that big a deal, just disappointed to see this come up in my feed. It's like buying a fake Sebenza off AliExpress but because they printed the word "Ganzo" on it, suddenly it's not a fake Sebenza and you're raving about the quality levels... Some people don't care about knockoffs. Some people do, that's all.
