Love my Gap Tool. Adaptive Cruise, Park assist, on demand e-lift (great on the trail), lower to the bump-stops (great for my garage with skis), service mode for doing my brakes, fogs on with full beams, global close, dynamic mode (who doesn't need a g-meter on their car?), in car wi-fi hotspot and more. Code reading, live values....... Best gadget ever.
Simon slightly off topic , but concerning the gap tool. LR have recently been sending out emails concerning the online data subscription renewal , which is for one of the built in SIM cards used for things like Spotify. It has taken them so long that people are getting these for the first time even if the vehicle is 3 years old at a cost of £120 for a year or £190 for 2 years. I have spoken to customer services and it seems that the initial subscription was for 12 months but it has taken them so long to sort out how to renew that people have been getting it free. Now it has been sorted if you want to keep it you have to renew. What my point is , if you can remember, some markets had a slightly different panel where the USB C and USB A ports are in the lower dash, In the middle was a sim slot. I can faintly remember LR Retrofits fitting them. I’m wondering if these panels are still available and if it’s possible to switch from the build in sim which is the data one , not the one used for OTA updates, to this sim using the GAP tool for instance. It will then be possible to choose your own data sim and contract. Hope you can help.
Hi Peter this is something i looked at. I think it is unfair to charge this fee for the data. so there are 2 options 1 - Change the USB port in the front for the one with the SIM card and change the CCF files - I have done this and it works. 2 - Ontop of the main control unit under the seat there is the PIVI control unit - ontop of that there is an IMEI number and ICCID. As the PIVI control unit does not have an actual SIM - it has an E Sim ( like an apple watch ) it should be possible to port the data to a different provider. I think you need a PAC code for this. I would like to do more investigation on this but a little short on time. Is this something you can follow up on. Drop me an email through customer service.
Hello friend. I’m going to keep following your gap tool videos. I have a basic question and also would like your advice. Is there a way to lock into off road 1 or off road 2 height with the tool. I would like to always be in one or the other height. Is that possible? Do you think it will drastically hurt the vehicle?
Hello, I am watching your videos with great pleasure. I have a request from you. I have a 2005 model 210 kW 280 PS gasoline RR. The air bag lamp on the passenger seat is on, we cannot turn it off. Do you have any information on how we can turn it off. Thank you.
GAP would like me to sell the tool - which i am happy to do and I am working with the UK distributor on this. I do not think we will be able to sell at much of a discount though. It takes a lot of time to develop the software and hardware and this need to be factored into the price of the tool.
Simon. Thank you for that excellent vid. Do you know if the GAP IID 3 will work with a D300, 2024 Discovery 5 ? (Or which GAP model will work! ?) I’m wanting to ‘switch on’ some ‘hidden’ features!!!! I’ve come across you guys recently, including purchasing several bits from you. Really appreciate all your research & development. Thanks.
Height adjustment vid please! Can you see if it’s possible to save a new lower access height without lowering the standard height. I believe it’s only possible as an offset and any changes will change all heights offset by that amount… I’d like to just lower the access mode a bit, without changing the standard height
Great tool. I use it for levelling my disco 4 (with roof tent) whilst camping. Always fun watching other people with campers struggling to drive up ramps on gravel etc. Whilst I just plug in my tool and can raise and lower individual corners as required. Had an audience yesterday evening at a campsite in Slovenia where I opened my roof top tent and adjusted the air suspension. People looked on like I'd just invented fire 😂
Can this be used to set the driver assistance mode to custom ,permanently ? As it always reverts to the beep thing after a restart.😡 also is the yearly subscription required in order to use this ?
