bro this video was a LIFE SAVER. my wife and I just moved into a new house and we have a baby on the way, so I been looking for a way to reduce my heavy bag noise. thanks a ton, great video
Excellent instructional. I'm about to hang heavy bags in my home private gym and I was about to go 200 lbs springs for 100 lbs bags. I'm so glad you mentioned going 150 lbs springs for 100 lbs bags. Thanks for the video. It saved me from making some mistakes. I 👍👍
@@BassinWCoast yes i do. I'm trying to get a fight in international kickboxing federation or Valor fights mma right now. I'm going to compete for 2 more years before I retire. I'll be 40 years old lol.
Great video! I've been trying to figure out a way to hang my heavy bag in a garden unit and it disturb the people above me and this seems to be the best solution. 550 cord... I'm a Marine and forgot all about it. Ha! Thanks!
Is the inner tube bearing the weight of the bag like the 550 cord in this video, or insulating the chains from being metal on metal? Either way, good idea.
Nice setup mine is similar except for height adjustment, I use a retractable ratchet strap with a carabiner on each side. I have pretty high ceilings and lil nephews training on the bag so this works well and keeps it quiet for me while allowing verticality. edit: I used painted quicklinks before which are also pretty good. 1-3 coats of whatever paint you have lying around should deaden the metal rattling to a degree but expect paint chips if it isnt clear coat.
Great video!! Would never have thought about the rope/knotting! I have a ceiling with wooden joists and plasterboard - would you recommend a ceiling mount to a single wooden joist or a mount/bracket that spreads the load over two joists? Also, I'm struggling to find springs for specific weights - most say "bags up to 250lbs" - rather than for say 100lbs. Do you know where I could source them in the UK?
Can I hang out right in the ceiling joists? I saw vids of screwing boards between the joits and hanging the bag from the board. Your way seems simpler to do
Their fs quieter and imo better. However for someone like me that clips them off and on for sparring an aqua bag would be way to heavy to remove on a daily basis on your own. You fs need to have very strong studs for an aqua bag, if you do yeah deff go aqua
What polypropylene rope did you use bro. What size? 1/4 or 3/16? And also where did you buy it i looked at home depot and found 3/16 has max of 90 pounds.
You don't need to torque it down to crazy man. I check on them every 2-3 months and re-tighten them up a bit. Still going strong till this day w no issues
*Do you think that 1 ceiling joist would hold a 150lb - 200lb heavy bag? I'm thinking about using a 2×6 board to evenly distribute the weight between 2-3 ceiling joists instead of putting all of the pressure on only 1 joist. How heavy is your bag and has it since held up well or have you had any problems with your Outslayer bag?*
Nice video, my question is how to hide the echo sounds made when hitting the punching bag, that thud sound, for me the bag chains makes no noise thanks to the spring but the echo made from punches is the issue. Do you know what I mean?
I just bought a maize bag it weighs about 30 lbs. I have a sheet rock ceiling. If I hang it to a stud it should support without cracking the sheet rock right?
Want to hang a heavy bag In my garage but was wondering have you had any issues with the drywall where the bag is hanging from cracking or has the anchor started to pull out from the beam over time over repeated hits?
This is a great video! My question is the mounting part. I think my garage just like yours is not concrete ceiling, has dry wall and wood beams. I have a stub finder and like to mount a 150 lbs punch bag, haven’t started yet concerning a lot whether can find a strong beam on top so heavy bags won’t fall down over time. Any advice how to mount more stably?
nice video! hey man do you think I can hang a 40 lbs bag with just some thick rope? Like how you have a hammock? I have rope and hook and a carabiner. I have a patio thats covered by a wooden structure and aluminum sheets. cant i just place a shirt underneath the rope and hang it from a support beam and use the rope to connect it to the chains?
Great video... some questions: Have you ever used tie-down strap extensions to hang a bag? I am thinking about using some of the 12" extension straps between the spring and the D-Rings on the bag, looped. Have you ever broken a spring? Any concerns? I am using a 100lb spring for my 100lb outslayer bag, but also have a 150lb spring. PS If you do an update, please zoom into the knots a little more and let us check it out. Thanks!
Sup Warren, I've had no problems with any setups yet. It's all been the same, no mods, no re-tightening anything. Springs are all in one piece. I also use it daily 5 times a week.
5:45 I dont understand I enjoy the sounds. I understand if you mean other/s in the house, same thing like no one likes when you are practising guitar scales etc.
So you only do it for noise? I watched another video where they did it because the metal on metal would wear the metal down and eventuality one of the rings would fail. Have you noticed any issues with that ever?
Great video! Might I ask where do you find specific springs that are rated for what you need? I just purchased the Ringside spring for my 100 lbs bag and I think it's rated way higher than what I need. I'd like to have that bounce in my bag to possibly reduce even more noise. Thanks!
I posted the link to the springs in the description, You can go with 100lb spring for the 55-70lb heavy bags and 150lb spring for the 100lb bags. You can find them on Amazon and ringside
Reduce noise yes but not fully. I set two 50lb sand bags on top and it does help with the vibration in the house. Noise wise I'd say it reduces 30% which better then nothing
What does the spring do for it? I have one hung up with no spring and when your punching the bag it sounds like someone is banging on the ceiling or something will the spring help with that?
It's a standard 2 car garage! It has gym matts now and you cannot park any cars inside once you go that route. Watch the last 2 sparring clips so you can see
Should i go with a freestanding punching bag... or a ceiling bag to reduce noise in my apartment? Trying to get back in shape after a lung infection and covid.... so determined to get back into the groove. lungs got pretty damaged, but im trying to be optimistic. i live up stairs in an apartment. any recommendations for ya boy? would really appreciate product suggestions. Much love to all of you.
Hi thanks for the instructions and video...however I went to buy the 1/4 inch rope but it looks much thicker than the one you're using are you sure it's not 1/8 inch you used?
@@mikevalentini5485 same question man. Which did you buy? 1/4 looks to thick to me. And 1/8 is too thin. Im thinking of getting the 3/16 but says weight capacity is 90 pounds. Which did you get
