A very clearly presented video that gave me the exact reason why the door wasn't closing. An easy fix and I didn't have to rely on a service call with a high fee. Thank you!!
I called the garage door repair guy to come out. He said $85 just to come out. I looked at your channel. I was done in 30 seconds. Just cleaned the lenses. It had very little dust but it worked. thank you .
I was getting frustrated after hrs fiddling with the darn thing and about to call a repairman who would've told me who knows. I was fooled because the sensor lights were on. But the light would blink right before it closed and go back up. So after watching your video I kept my eye on the sensors as the door was closing. Sure enough the side rail shaking on the left side caused the sensor rays to disconnect and caused the door to go back up. But you pointed me the right way anyway. I was at my wits end. What a blessing your video was. Thanks.
Thank you SO much for making this video ! As a recently widowed elderly woman, I was able to fix my garage door closing problem without having to call an expensive repair person.
The trim at the top of my door partially detached from the frame and was catching the door about 80% down then it would go back up. I nailed the trim back into place and that fixed the problem. Thanks for the tips in the video too.
Readjusting coordination, cleaning the lenses, and checking the wirings of the sensors solved my issue(s) thanks to what I learned in this video. Thank you very much! 🙌🏼
Thank you so much, your solution worked, the sensor was loose. You saved me $150 that I would've had a pay for a service call. Much appreciate you posting this video!
This just happened to right now. Found this video while trying to find a solution myself. Thanks a lot for the video. Solved the issue instantly. 2 reasons why mine wouldn't work. A spider was just chilling on the right and also the was sensor pretty lose. Cleaned both of them and propped the right sensor now it works perfectly fine. Thanks again
Easy to understand and each issue is handled with precise ways to repair that particular problem. Wish I had seen this before spending lots of $$$ throughout the years on repairs that I could have done myself....”very well done” video! Thanks so much.
Sam, thank you so much. I just cleaned the lenses on the sensors and the garage door closes and works as it normally does. As a person who is not "handy" I find your videos very informative and easy to follow.
My garage wouldn't open or close without having tondo it manually. As soon as i wiped my finger across the lense (as this video suggests could be a reason) and pressed the button, it closed and opened... I thought it was probaby the chain but it was that the lense had dirt on it... This man knows his stuff!!! Thank you for this video!
I was about to file a home warranty claim, when I watched your vid and then went out and cleaned my sensor lenses. That fixed it! You saved me $75 and time. Thank you!
Thanks for the video. I think the cleaning of the lenses did the trick for me! Just in case, I got down and checked my wires, shook the rails and all that. My wife now thinks I’m a legitimate handyman. I owe you, man!
Thanks! Today our door did just what you showed in the video. As instructed, checked wiring, cleaned the glass (did not know these existed) and made sure they aligned with each other. Presto, door works. Assume the lenses were dirty. Thanks
Thank you! Tried your suggestion with aligning the sensors and it worked! Appreciate it. It’s not often where one of these fix it videos actually is helpful.
Great video. One other issue I ran into; same problem, but different solution. The screws holding the rollers onto the door (and the braces for the door) were all loose. It caused the door to shake and prevented it from closing. Tightened the screws and the door closed just fine.
Thanks so much! I watched the first 1:30 and realized my problem. So satisfying to fix something yourself without having to call a repair service for $150. Much gratitude.
Thank you for your Awesome videos. My BFF had a meltdown about her garage door when it didn’t want to close. Thank you for telling me some ways to help her out.
Thank you, sir, for posting this video. It was super helpful to me today. My door was not closing. It would start then stop. Turns out that it was the sensor! Someone bumped it when they picked up some things today. You have been a great help. Thank you again.
THANK YOU!!!!!! I took a chance to google my issue AFTER I booked an appointment with a local company. It was my sensors no aligning! Save myself some money, I would’ve been PISSED they did something soo simple. Lol!!!
This video was extremely helpful. My garage door shit the bed, or so I thought, then after this extremely helpful video I was able to fix it quickly. One of the best videos I found on RU-vid thanks again.
Thank you for this video! I just go a garage door opener and today it would not close and the place I got it from is closed for a 3 day weekend. I was very worried about leaving the garage open - but you saved the day.
I just followed this video and finally got my door to close. There were spider webs on both sensors. As soon as I cleared these the problem was solved. Thank you!
THANK YOU!!! Cleaned the sensors. Problem solved. I probably never would’ve thought of that, called a garage repair guy and been told I needed a new garage door or some expensive (and needless) repair.
Thanks for this video. Just moved in to my house and my garage door misbehaved because I tried setting it up with remote. It couldn’t go down but with this video we were able to fix it.
Thanks Big Homie you just saved me 200.00. The light was blinking and thus making the door not close so i fixed the wiring a bit and cleaned up the lense and it now works!
Thank you very much for your video, it is really helpfull and your time for sharing your experince. I folllowed your observations and bingo now the garage door closes.
Great Illustrations! Simple to follow. Was able to get garage door working on the third illustration. Wires got separated by a snow shovel resting on the wire nut.
An older door opener was intermittently not closing and I was getting frustrated with it. After watching your video, I cleaned and adjusted both safety sensors, verified steady LED lights on them, and now again have a working door opener - at least for now...
Excellent presentation, concise and to the point. My lenses were dirty due to recent garage floor scrapping, clean them, readjusted and voila - it work. Thanks
Thanks, I'm gonna check out all 4 reasons to see what could be the problem. We have a lot of snow against garage door and thought the eye might be frozen, but we'll see!
Sam is the truth! Thank you for this tips. Just moved to a new house and door was stuck when closing. Just figured that one of the sensors was hanging by a zip tie. Seems like vibration got the tie moving and the sensor was loose pointing to the ground. Got the sensor back in the right position with the zip tie and it is operating back again. I'll take a look to see if why there is no screws holding the sensor, like in the other side, to figure out a better solution to the issue.
Hard to believe but all it took to fix our garage door was to clean the lens on the sensors. My husband is pretty pleased with me and so am I. Thank you for uploading this video. Frustrating experiences: GONE.
Thank you so much for your video. My friend changed the opening code for me and then I was having issue with the door closing. I never in my wildest dreams thought your idea of the eye being dirty was the right answer. Guess what it was. You saved me money, thanks again.
Thank you so much for your video!!! I couldn’t closed my garage door today and it worked after I cleaned the sensors!!! So glad I went to RU-vid for solution.
You saved my day. I was on my way to the airport when all of the sudden the garage door did not want to close. This could not happened on another day but the day going to airport. I checked the sensors and they were very dirty. I cleaned them up and problem solved ......... thank you !!!!!!
Great video. The symptoms indicated a sensor problem, but I had a steady green light. I wiped the lenses and cleared the problem. I find it a little confusing that the sensor can have the green light while not sending a clear signal to the control unit.
What if my door only closes when I hit and hold the wall switch? If I tap the switch, it tries to close for a second and then opens again. I have no problem opening the door.
Holy crap you save me. I was trying to troubleshoot thinking the chain was too tight or too loose and lost all hope thinking i'm gonna buy a new motor and then i thought about youtube yes it was just a simple sensor that was loose thanks
Thank you so much for this video Sam. I was fooling around with no idea why the door all of a sudden stopped going fully down. I check the sensor to wipe them and sure enough just like you said, there was a dried leaf 🍁 stuck on the left sensor totally covering it up. I removed the leaf and wiped down the sensor and the door is functioning once again. I’m super grateful for you instructions.
It took me less than one minute to reattached the wire, and no you don’t even need to shut off the electricity. Thank you so much for saving me hundreds. 👍
My door would not close after a short start. Sure enough it was a dirty sensor and one of the eye's was slightly out of it's installed position, for some reason. I saved about $200. Thanks!
