I turned 16 at the end of 1972 and bought my first car.....a 59 VW. Drove it for a few years and bought something newer. Had a lot of good times in the old bug and wish I still had it. Ahhh the memories of our youth.

Wow sounded nice! But I hear a knock sound too. Fired right up though. Yep the belt!!! Quick fix! 😁 Love the garage…I need one like that. Original paint that long! I was wondering why so much paint was removed too. The original paint doesn’t look that bad…… The dash is amazing!!! Wow!!!

As soon as you fired it up I said, Its just the belt! That thing runs great! Beautiful bug. 59 is my favorite year, I have a nice 62 daily driver currently, which I will keep because I am going through everything to make it a super reliable driver. I am running the original 40hp engine which pushes me up the grapevine in California just fine!

My step-dad had a 60 to 62 black with red seats like that one. I remember him and my mom smoking pall mall reds and killing me and my sister. No pop out windows. Should be standard equipment lol. The cig pack matched the interior.

The 59 is pretty nice! Nice and smooth! Man. Taylor is going to be lucky if he doesn't end up having to swap that engine in on the trip back home! lol.

Excellent video Jason :) yes black 1959 VOLKSWAGEN BETTLE car free air conditioning and plus 2 tone Lol! Also painting up or leave it Lol and super nice sound engine to after belt fix up too! That wild sell motor for VOLKSWAGEN those motor thought at least be $500.00 to $1.000 for good ones and under $500.00 to for need be rebuilt too ! Just saying because prices gone up on motors to rebuilt even on special shops do tons of them for costumers !

Man, I know little to nothing about VW’s, ( I owned a 1965 in 1976, my first car) but for a whole engine for $300, I would have come over and tightened that fan belt! LOL! I paid $175 for that beetle, I was a sophomore in high school and HOLY SMOKES DID WE HAVE FUN! It went EVERYWHERE in winter and summer! LOL!

Don't call yourself a dumbass-When a man is busy and trying to multitask some details get overlooked. Now initially I was horrified for you when I heard that knock when you fired it up-However Its difficult to differentiate between a metallic knock vs a belt thumping when it's loose over the recording (Especially over the net) Terrible thought to fry a piston or suck a valve on a first start when you just sunk a truckload of cash into a new purchase..Congratulations! That 59 is a beauty

Imagine how good your '59 would look with a full beautiful paint job to match that driver's door. Hope Larry pushes for that and can the original rear fender be saved???

Watched this video yesterday but didn't have time to comment. My thoughts on the paint or lack of it are; the body shop did the repair and scorched the paint with the grinder OR the guy didn't want to 'feather' the edges of the paint so stripped the whole thing maybe neither of those but I cannot think of any other reason for them doing that. There is a 'new' device now that can scan the original paint colour and then you just plug that into the point shop computer and it tells it what the mix should be. Might be worth finding out if you can borrow/hire one. I am sure you will renew the other side before you paint it anyway. Take care Jason and good to see Taylor putting in some hours for you. 👍👍

Love Your Channel. I as a young kid use to love The older VW Beetles until I drove one. I scared myself so much driving it I ended up never driving one again LOL A lot of my fear came from the lack of insulation in the body so the car vibrated excessively for my tastes & with the high revving engine & the shimmy & shaking along with the sensitivity of the breaks It felt like it was going much faster than it actually was. I have since regained my love for the older VW's & Cannot stand the remakes of today, they have made a car the reminds you of the old classic but is far from it. I like watching you & your buddies tinker & forage & fix these old babes & giving them new life. Keep up doing what you are doing cause there are so few actual VW lovers out there now a days, especially here in Canada.

how many hours do l need to put in for the dune buggy engine?

I had a 59 sedan once, best vw I ever owned. Would love to find one as cool as this one. I have 62 now trying find right carb for a dual port previous owner, don't buy installed. Bought chinese clone out of desperation, waste of time and money.

running my 1970 beetle on I 94 at 80 MPH for 6 hours crack a head I have chrome chevy 14 inch wheels on the back //replaced the head /can they run 80 M.P.H. all day long ?
