To correct your garage door opener for the car fob not working is to replace the opener unit with a new wifi version system (-:

Hey Ryan, great video, I personally really like the Barina LED's. The fact that they run on 120V makes them a breeze to manage on the electrical side of things and the brightness and color matching are pretty spectacular for the price. As far as the interference with the garage door opener, that just has to do with the way the PWM drivers for the LED's work and they just happen to run in the same frequency range as the garage door opener. That's something that will happen with any light strip that you're going to get unfortunately. You could try using ferrite clamp on cores and ferrite toroids to reduce the amount of interference, but I'm not sure how well that will work with the sheer amount of lights you've got. Just an idea, maybe you could get a Wifi switch for the garage door opener and control the garage from your phone or google assistant. They're around 25-30 bucks, and just plug into your existing garage door opener. They're pretty worth it in my opinion, because mot only can you control the garage from your phone or smart assistant, but you also can get notifications for when the garage door is open. A buddy of mine set his up with the IFTTT app to open when his phone's GPS was in a designated range of his house that he set. Anyways, best of luck figuring out the issue and can't wait to see this great lighting in your future videos. Stay safe, and wash your hands!

3:30 Don't slice the jacket that far back. Do a short slice near the end and pull the ends apart, it will tear down the length. That way if you hit the conductors it will only be where you will strip them anyway

You should put some on the garage door and just have an extension cord coming from the ceil garage door opener outlet. You can then plug it in when you have the door open and then unplug it when you need to closet the garage door. Since the garage door blocks the light when it’s open.

I don't have any actual advice about the interference, but I can say I had to change the LED bulb in my garage door opener. If that light was on, the remotes would barely work.

I bought the 4 foot 6 pack about a year and a half ago on amazon! Love them. I hooked mine up separate from my other LED A19 LEDs so that I didn't have to run them every time I was in the garage, just when I needed the extra light. (Hoping to get longer life out of them by not using them when not needed)

Re your garage door opener issue. I’m no electrician but I did read some where on the internet that the lack of grounding is a possible culprit.
@SuzukiKid400

LED lights have high frequency drivers and that is what interferes with the radio signal from the garage door opener. The only way around that is to have the lights turned off if you want to use the wireless garage door opener. I have a similar amount of LED lighting in my garage and have the same issue as you.

if you have led lamps in the garage door opener itself that could be the issue ,they do make an led specifically for openers but make sure your opener is approved by light manufacturer

Your door sensors are likely "blinded" by the lights. Try taping toilet paper rolls to them to act as a snoot. Then if it works set up a more permanent fix. Nice videos very well done.

I have a 170 sq feet shed (17’ by 10’) where I installed six 8 feet Barrina lights. I installed them in three runs, so basically there is three separate runs of lights where each run consists of two lights connected and touching (where it looks like one long 16 ft light). So I have the runs positions where there is one in the middle, running down the ridge of the rooftop, and then about 2 feet out from each side of that is another run on each side. Is it possible a different configuration of light spacing would provide more consistent lighting? I am using this building to produce RU-vid videos so lighting is very important for me.

Great vid, very clear install guide and explanation. My garage is about the same size as yours, but I think I'm going to install just 6 X 4ft lights so I don't get fried every time I turn the lights on. Did you figure out the issue with the garage opener? Just curious in case that happens to me too. Thanks!
@ThatTechTeacher427
@ThatTechTeacher427 4 года назад
Thanks! I've been lazy fixing that problem although I have 2 suggestions that I hopefully will try soon. Run the antenna wire to the front of the garage or use a farad clamp of the power cable of the garage door opener to help with the magnetic interference I have created.

Great video. Looks like your garage is about 20'(w)x 20-ish(d). Mine is 17x25 so I was about to order a 10 pack of the 8 footers figuring I'd have a couple of spares for failures. I then read a chart from Barina and for a 20x20 garage, they recommend 3 x 8ft or 6 x 4ft. You have 2.5 times as many lights as they recommend!! Now that this is 7 months later, are the lights too bright or are you still good? Trying to decide how many to get now. I will definitely break them up across 2 switches though.
@ThatTechTeacher427
@ThatTechTeacher427 3 года назад
Thanks! Yep the garage is 22' x 22'. I think what you are going to order would be fine. I will say at first it was a lot of light and took some getting used to. That being said I am kinda of nut for going overboard and I love that crazy amount of light I have now. It makes it so easy to see at night and even really helps during the day. I would say follow barina's guidelines and then add more later if you would like.
