I do a lot of spot repairs, and I always cover my blend area before doing my base to keep the color out of the blend area. With silver, it's not too bad, but I find that if I have color in my blend area with darker colors, I always get a burnback line when buffing. What do you think? Do you have the same problem?
Howdy gunman! I've got a big full size "pickup truck" as we call them in Canada in for work. Pearl black. Been smashing it out with my SRI pro mini gun, and some quality 1:1 epoxy primer, quality Dupont solvent base, and quality 1:1 high solids SPI clear. Customer will be floored. Im redoing some cracked and bad work from another shop years ago.
Hi Gunny- I do this type of spot blending on my used cars all the time. Thanks to you, I've tried the Colad UV filler. It was only like 20 bucks on eBay or Amazon. And a $12 UV light on eBay does the hardening in 5 seconds. The price "is definitely coming down"!!! I have only used it a couple times but you are right that it does not shrink- it feathers out finely. Not for deep stuff, but is FAST! It does seem like a plastic sort of. I'm going to try that first step of shaving it with a razor blade. (I like shaving bondo or bog with a cheese grater first too.) 1k primer works for me too unless feather edges lift. Thanks for your videos.
Superb job on the Merc Gunny, you always make it look so easy doing these small jobs is just a walk in the park for you. I do like the latest UK tech the UV putties are a total game changer as they cure so quickly even with a budget UV lamp it's so much quicker than 2k plus there is zero shrinkage👌 Your wife's Merc is looking good mate it's the same colour as my SLK in the 744 silver, enjoy the rest of your holiday🙏👍John UK
Another great repair Gunman what would be a good little Gun for me DIY in the garage have 2 guns at the moment would like a Gun which is less in overspray but still able to produce good quality spray.
Hey I spray boats with awlgrip but I’m planning on moving to the coast and want to work at the shop my uncle works at. They spray glasruit line 55 I think you’ve sprayed that if I remember right.. how do you like it? Do you have videos where I can watch it be used. I like the 100 line I’ve seen that used a lot.
I like watching you mask thats one thing I will never be as good as you masking 6'4'''' big guy I paint good now, but the first 40 years heavy collision and then I got DRAFTED
Great video mate, Question for you though. I've got the R160 with the 1.0 tip, at some stage I will have to do roof/bonnet and hard cover on my D Max, do you reckon I'd get away with the R160 or should I get the Compact? notice the fan is obviously bigger. Perhaps I could use the R160 for base and the compact for clear?? In hindsight I would have got the 160 with a 1.2 but think they were out of stock or if I could get the 1.2 for the R160 would that do??
I used to jump in and paint a car or repairs and loved it, but these days it feels like it is beyond me and I have 2 vehicles that need paint,, not good, hopefully one day I manage to get back in to it and get them done.
I always enjoy your uploads! So on the lacquer blend that was just some regular thinners/reducer in with the lacquer to melt it? That new Sprayguns Direct gun look decent.
Good job Gunny. Do you run a bit of dishwashing detergent in your water spray bottle to help stop the paper from clogging, or do you think it isn't worth it? I always have and it seems to help. Just curious.
Not sure how breakers look in Australia but if your garage is on a 15amp breaker, you can switch it out for a 20 or 25 amp breaker if it isnt already and that should fix the flipping problem. Also not have so many things plugged into one outlet. If you have multiple outlets in your garage then just run extension cords and free up the load on one outlet.
Won't make any difference what outlet he uses if garage is all on one breaker. He needs an electrician to upgrade breaker if wiring can carry the extra load 👍
@@SalvageMasterEssex my point was that if the breaker is say a 15 amp, he can upgrade it to a 20-25 amp one and it will fix the issue unless it already has a higher amp breaker
@@latinprince896 And my point was, if he upgrades to a 20 - 25 amp breaker but only has wiring that can handle say 15 amp, he's gonna burn garage down. Hence reason I said consult an electrician 👍
How do you get the paint from retail shop to have colour match as there are variants. Planning to do spot repair on 3 layer pearl. But worrying no way to get the colour close with original bumper.
Hey, just to learn for myself here. What’s the reasoning you use nicky to fill in the repair as apposed to feathering it out completely? On plastic can’t you just feather it all the way out because it’s soft material and you can sand the layers away? Thank you
Всем привн надо было добавить еще пару движений с скочбрайтом и матирующей памтой чтоб на 100 про избавиться от риски и небыло видно следы переходов на 100про
@@TheGunmanChannel Well in those cases damage was caused by driver of the other car who clearly never had any sensors crashing into the car that did have sensors 🤣🤣
