I saw first hand at a sprint car race back in the 90’s when Steve kinser was sponsored by valvoline , his trailer and pit area was full of Redline oil !!!! Lol. I asked his crew chief Scott Gerkin about it and he started laughing saying valvoline is paying for the advertising not for them to use the product. He said he would “never put that shit in a race engine” ! True quote.
I have a question about logo placement and size. Who decides where and how big the logo is of the sponsor. I’m sure where it goes is based on a cost and size. I get that part, However, if a sponsor pays for the year to be on the back post like Valvoline. Could that logo go on the back panel past the wheel if the spot has not been taken? Could Hendrick decide to do that as a thank you to Valvoline when extra space is available? I love all the sponsor part of the sport and just was curious about showing appreciation to some partners. Also decisions about the other team cars, their uniforms etc. Valvoline seems to be tied to all four cars which is great. I always wondered “hey, we have room on the #5 car, let’s ask Ally if they are okay if we put their logo on the #5 from time to time, and Microsoft on all four cars of the skinny post around part of the window as a thank you. Anyway I looks at all these kinds of things when the cars are on the tracks. Find the sponsor part very fascinating.
