Thank you everyone for your kind comments ❤ I couldn’t be happier! Just a few details I forgot to mention: The car has had 1 owner (another thing important to me.) The mileage is actually just under 55k (not 60 like I said.) plus it’s also been serviced at VW every 10k miles so 5 stamps in the book ✌🏼oh lastly I also forgot to mention that the yellow headlights are 🤢 especially comparing to the Lupos Xenon’s, so that is also on the list!
I do understand your happiness in owning a UP! You will be mortified, but as a previous owner of a BMW 530 and a 60 hp UP! after the BMW, there is simply no comparison. With our roads where you can’t go above 130 km/h without getting a fine, being able to continuously change gears and using the accelerator without being terrified by the consequences was pure bliss. The UP! was simply more fun.
Forget what VW say at 10,000 do it at 5000, even The Car Care Nut will tell you that, he has a great channel, check him out, I say a white one yesterday, Check out the Car Care Nut. Check out Scotty Kilmer I rennet him being on TV when I went to work over in Canada, check his channel out
I am a driving instructor and I teach in a Skoda Citigo. I bought it brand new in 2015 for £9,400 with dual controls and thought I would replace it after 2-3 years but 7 years later it is still amazing. I don’t want to replace it. It is 59 bhp and I love it. I hope you enjoy it.
I've started to warm to these! I'm looking into a small fun hatch to go along side my merc for when I just want to zoom about town and these are great. Hope you enjoy! And great idea going for a higher mile knowing you won't be adding much more to it, I do exactly that and reap the rewards of saving a few grand and still getting a pretty new motor 😎
Its like you got a good deal! It suits your needs and you're really happy with it, which is what counts the most. Nothing from VW Group does it for me, but I can see why you went for this UP! I'd leave it red all over, but its your car and you can do what you want. Can't think of anything else, except maybe a Mini Cooper (expensive?), you could have gone for, its totally different to an Abarth. You can't compare. I had 4 Abarths and I loved them all, but they are not relaxing on a long journey, you have to "Drive" all the time, which is what makes them fun, but more tiring on a long run. I think the UP! is better for your needs, with some fun thrown in What really impresses me with your reviews is that, you are a massive VW fan, but you don't let this override your reviews of other cars
Dear Tish, as the old saying goes, " you pays your money and you makes your choice!" Any negativety on your choice is irrelevant. I believe you made the right choice and I trust in your judgement. As for power and performance, from everything said from the introduction of the Up! GTI, you can't go wrong! Many happy miles of motoring, Tish!
That’s a bargain. I have a 75hp Up which is a fun car and I have been looking at GTIs as an upgrade. Not seen any VW approved for less than £13k..Enjoy.
I have the same one 5door with digital climate/hight adjustable seats/auto lights/auto wipers/rear sensors and camera/black roof and cruise control. Love the little up and love the mpg it returns
Just keep an eye out for potholes. Mine is a 22-plate and I've had to replace the front passenger tyre twice at £145 a pop because of sidewall damage. Otherwise your summary covers it.
I recently got myself a runabout / commuting car, and it really is the best feeling when you know you have made the right purchase for your needs, mine was nothing exciting, a 12-year-old 308 Peugeot 308 1.4 but it has cruise, air con and gets mid 50's mpg and i can park it anywhere and not worry about it. Best of all 42k miles and £4k. I love it 😁 Hope you enjoy the GTI
Your passion shines thru! Good Call Tish! I own a 2013 Up! We don't have the GTI in Oz. Next on your list should be a CYBRTRK! I have a Day 1 reservation.
Great review 👏👏👏I have owned my Up Gti nearly 3 years and I love it’s to the Moon and back ❤️ PS as someone mentioned Tish please watch out for Pot Holes I’ve sadly hit a few, luckily no damage but omg the noise u think the engine has fallen out !!!! 😮
Great little cars, have had one since launch which we spec'ed up, have Auto lights and city assist along with digital climate, cruise and parking sensors. At the same time we had a Golf GTI Edition 40 but on some roads the Up! was more fun. Drives like a go kart 😀
I have been waiting for this video ever since seeing your Instagram post. You seem very happy (glowing) with your new purchase. Great to see you so happy Tish. It's just really sad they are slowly phasing out nice looking fun small cars like this to make way for big family SUV's.
I’m a car trader and I was coming out job. And almost bought the UP GTi myself. I’m still trading. Sold an M140 almost 3 years ago when covid started. Never had own car again until last week. Fancied the GTi UP. Went saw 2. Were far too dear then
I've got one in white, great choice, holding its value well and still a rare sight on the road. Watch the pot holes and speed bumps as the standard shocks are not the best, I'll be upgrading to bilsteins when the time comes to change them. Apart from upgrading the shocks I'll be keeping mine standard as this will uphold its value. Already predicted as a future classic, hold onto it.
Awesome! You know I think white would have been my first choice! Yes lots of people have mentioned this, I think I will consider upgrading the suspension. Thank you for the tips ☺️
My wife has a red up with a black roof and a sun roof and it is really reliable. Built like a tank and has amazing mpg. Hers doesn’t have the tartan upholstery like yours but it does have the heated seats which she and I just love. She did go for the reserving camera which is one of the worst cameras and screens ever….seriously useless and that wasn’t explained to us when we ordered it. The up is a great no-nonsense small car that will run for ever…..much much better than their awful Fox. Health to Drive
I had the first registered Up GTi in Scotland and it was a great car. I'm also on my second Abarth 595 Comp also a great car minus the seating position for taller drivers like me lol
I quite like the new addition Tish. I've driven non turbo versions of the Volkswagen group and they were good honest transport and quite fun on tighter twisty roads. Your GTi looks a treat and with that added turbo it's likely to be much more fun at motorway speeds. Personally I'm a fan of red and this shade looks a peach. I noticed you colour matched the shoes to the car for this review. Nicely produced and edited as usual. Well done on the purchase and thanks for sharing. Oh, one final note, on the cars that I drove I kept forgetting to put the parcel shelf down after loading the boot, not to good for rear visibility.
Well done Tish so glad you are happy with your up GTI I enjoyed driving the normal up when my golf was in for service it looks in lovely condition and some great plans for the car I look forward to seeing future videos and wish you many happy hours of motoring in it Daniel
11.5k, not bad for your 4 yr old..... I like the mileage thought process it was exactly what I did.... I think I can do ever so slightly better though....I had a 2014 Octavia vRS ( proper petrol 220hp) from a main dealer.....it was at 45k. IIRC it was about 13,600. That was in 2016 !! With satnav leather seats and canton stereo. Like you reconcilled about mileage on balance would average out when those who couldn't quite bite were not taking the bait, but I did. Its still only about 67k now! I don't think I will have lost a huge amount on depreciation now compared to buying a new car if I sold it....smart minds think alike. Those UP GTIs must be good, we have a Citigo too which is fun despite low power. Must be a cracker with TSi and quite a bit more hp, shame they didn't do this on the Citigo I know of one guy who retrograded a whole TSI into one though ( the guy who had the Green Fabia also converted to 1.8TSi ).
Tish, did you think about a Kia Picanto GT Line S? They have 100bhp, cruise control, car play and parking sensors. you can pick up a 2019 with 25K on the clock for a similar price and you would have most of it's 7 year warranty left.
Awww that car's kinda cool tho. Congrats on your new car. I hope she treats you well, and hopefully one day you'll get your hands on an Aston Martin DBX 707.😂😂😂
Many congrats on your new car! Big fan of the Up GTI! They hold there money really well and are in big demand which is a nice bonus as the car looks like a great one to live with day to day. Many happy miles ahead I am sure 🎉
They do, don’t worry. Bought mine for 14k new four years ago and I’ve just traded it in on a Polo R Line and got 12k. I’ve loved owning it as it’s got an air of cool about it, but I never keep cars more than four years so it’s gotta go, will take at least two months to get the new car so I’ll get the last bit of fun out of it.
Hi Tish, quite a smart little car and a good deal, I would change the oil every 5000 miles, these engines are bad for burning oil and the GDI is bad for carbon build up with high mileage 0W-16 oil would be a good choice, you are making good content, try Magnaflow for a stainless cat back exhaust 😊
A good all rounder would also be something 4 cylinder non turbo and direct injection this is where lot of Toyota and Honda engines come into their own at being able to do 3-400,000 if serviced correctly I had one Honda Civic CRX with 270,000 and it ran like a clock, I even had one Ford KA with 194,000 still ran pretty good with no oil burning was a great work car for a few years
The wife owns a abarth turismo, had it 7 years now, its a great little car, but we hired the basic vw up on holiday once we both were very impressed with it, get it re mapped, drop a nice back box on it for a more sporty sound etc ! By the way i think it looks good red ! Enjoy
Great review. Refreshing to have a review that explores options for a budget in these challenging times. The dope colour matching trainers also not lost on me 👌
Two things wrong with this car 1) not enough power and I think it should’ve had150bhp and 0-60 mph in 7 seconds 2) should’ve had an infotainment system. Smartphones aren’t big enough as infotainment systems so having a smartphone as an infotainment system is not good enough
As someone with a voracious appetite for car reviews (going way back to the old Top Gear etc), I am a little bit of a pain to please. Your reviews are, without question, growing on me. Natural, relaxed, refined, informed and highly engaging. IMHO, it looks and sounds like a great choice. I live across the pond (Miami) so we don't get this little devil but it looks like it would be a blast on a tight country road. It looks great too. All little cars need to give them a little more menace, are nicely styled, larger wheels/tires. Leave the ridiculous horsepower wars to the millionaire/billionaire class. Purists have always lauded minis, miatas etc. They offer the sensation of speed, without the speeding tickets etc. I was right to subscribe. I look forward to new content. Hats off and thank you.
Congrats on your car, Tish. It's absolutely stunning. Watching your Up! reminds me of the small car MG is still selling in the UK - MG3. If I'm not mistaken, it is one of the cheapest car available in the UK. I find it interesting because in China, MG stopped selling MG3 long time ago. Mainly because Chinese customers lost interest in small ICE cars. Apparently SAIC is still manufacturing MG3 and exporting to other countries. Are you able to do a review on MG3 to see how it drives. There are very few reviews on RU-vid, which says it drives okay for the price. I have been wondering why MG doesn't electrify MG3 and sell it as a pure electric city mini car. MG has been conquering the EV market with its affordable EV. MG3 EV will be able to compete with Smart ForTwo, even FIAT 500e. It's a lost opportunity for MG. SAIC is not producing any small EVs at the moment, and I don't think they will in the near future. MG3 would be ideal for MG to taken advantage of existing MG3 manufacturing line to drive down EV prices. If they develop a new small EV from ground up, it will definitely be more expensive than a MG3 EV converted from ICE. Just a thought. Thanks.
Congratulation on your new pride and joy. It's very you Tish, especially as you a Lupo GTI as well. You deserve it. On the modification idea, I personally would keep it standard as it looks good as it is and it will help it retain it's value, but that's entirely up to you. If your going to think about doing the auto light function yourself. make sure you've got all the necessary part and equipment that you need, as they do require a sensor in the front of the dash or at the top of the windscreen to work and there may be coding/adapting involved, so going to a main dealer may be required. I hope this helps and great review
I think the Suzuki Swift Sport would give the VW a good run for the money. The Swift has far better specs. and is just as economical and probably more reliable, plus you also get rear disc brakes.
Great little car, that. Perfect spec. One of the best looking GTI wheels, and Tornado Red is so much better than Kings Red on the Golf GTI MK8. It's a nice color but Tornado Red suits the GTI better. For a short while I considered the UP! GTI myself, but settled on a GTI Edition 35 in the same color instead. Enjoy your new car! Hope to see it more on the channel.
Well I found my first car now I decided which transmission (manual). For buying an UP I found my volkswagen dealer in merthyr tydfil should i go straight for new or look at second hand/used as a first car buyer? Btw video rocks
Well Tish I have to congratulate you on your new 'baby' 🚘😁 I've never been a great lover of red cars 🚘 but I recently owned a red Peugeot 108 & i tell you what the shine on the paintwork after polish is applied makes the colour look stunning much like your vw does here.👌 pleased you took out a loan & made it yours from the start 😀 well done on a good choice of car & bloody enjoy it after all you deserve some reward for being good at what you do with yhe reviews 👍
Hi from Spain! great choice Tish, and great video as always! I hope your channel grows so massively that you can afford in the future a GT3 or whatever car you want! keep up the amazing job, one of my favorite car reviewers by far!!!
Yes I did and it was up there with my choices especially because of reliability but ultimately it was the 2 year warranty that won me over, I could have got a slightly older Swift Sport for same money but only 6 months warranty
You're in good company Natisha as I think Andrew from VolksWizard ran one for a year and loved it. I wonder if you will agree with him about the £600 Bilstein coilovers upgrade as being the best quick win.
The prices of the up gti are holding their prices damn i could and should have bought one!, I had a 1.2 tsi polo r line a cracking little engine and on a road trip where i did a few hundred miles and got around the same MPG as your up gti a wise choice.
There was a time when almost every manufacturer made an affordable fun economical hot hatch... Sadly that`s no longer the case, the choice for new now limited to the UP GTI if you can find a new one? the Abarth 595, Mini Cooper or the Fiesta ST which is also soon to be axed! i own and love my Abarth 595 Scorpioneoro but economy is not a strong point if you do big mileages, which fortunately i don`t, otherwise like you i`d probably buy the UP GTI..
Funnily enough, I drive the cheapest up! Volkswagen has ever offered, a 2012 take up! Same engine but without turbocharger, therefore only 59 bhp and all the comforts you can imagine... are missing. It's a very simple and boring car, but perfect for doing the miles for as little money as possible. I'm a novice driver and just wanted a car that would do the job of getting 17,000 km done every year without breaking down.
@@AutoSocialUK Thanks for the feedback, when I have enough money together I'll use my up! as a winter car. Then I'll get my dream car, a 2016-2018 Mazda MX-5 ND1 for the summer.
Love an UP GTI! Considering trading in my Polo GTI for a fun (Chuckable) UP GTI. I only get about 25mpg doing little local drives 😥 . Are you considering swapping the stereo for one with apple car play?
