I so glad I came across this. It would have had the old dears clutching their pearls and saying how inappropriate the Legend of Shirley was! What a voice. What a band.
One of the next songs in this set was: Blitzkrieg Bop Dee Dee Ramone died a few weeks before and Shirley and the boys dedicated to him... HEY HO LET"S GO... They Nailed their version too :)
no disrespect to matt walker but garbage doesn't sound like garbage without vig. the guy is pounding with baseball bats back there. way too brutish for and electro band
I was thinking the same f....., shit! This guy, plays with some f.....g big as balls man! More acoustic sounding too. Love this sound with this guy on the kit!
+Eleanor Francis Got your drummers named Matt mixed up. If wiki is correct, Matt Walker was their drummer for a lot of 2002. Strangely enough Matt Walker and Matt Chamberlain have taken turns playing for Smashing Pumpkins a lot.
During this time he was diagnosed with hepatitis A. He also has severe and ongoing sinus problems. Matt Walker has done a fair bit of touring with the band over the years.
If you watch enough Garbage videos it is apparent that Shirley often has issues with her in-ear monitors and is often signalling the monitor person. This is quite a loud band, though in recent years they've cut the stage volume by using electronic drums and getting rid of the on-stage amps, seemingly DI'ing everything to the front-of-house PA. Even in the earlier days there was a Plexiglas shield to limit the wash of the cymbals front getting into the front-line mics. Either way, the band always gets an amazingly good and consistent on-stage sound.
