When I first saw this music video, I couldn't believe it was Garbage. I even called my sister over, and neither of us could believe our eyes. Never imagined Shirley could sound like this. Instant love. Went out and got their album immediately. I was a high school boy at the time and didn't care for the world that I was buying a bright pink CD with a rose on the cover. Played it in my car right away in the parking lot before I left. Just awesome.

Ah, this takes me back. 12 or so years ago, on russian tv channel CTC there was an hour-two long section of cartoons for kids that just returned from school. They showed cartoons the likes of Scooby Doo, Batman Beyond and Gargoyles. And in-between these cartoons they would play various musical clips, this particular one being quite frequent. This clip was quite something for my 12 year old mind and I remember it fondly.

I love this song, it's one of my all time faves. When i was learning to walk as a baby, my mum would sing it too me. It was the first pop song i sang and it influences the style of music i play today. I used to listen to this on repeat on long car journeys and it just means alot to me especially because i have alot of trans friends and this song has supported them too!!! So it feels really good to listen to it again as i havnt in ages. Listening to an old song that you havnt heard for a while and love is one of the best feelings ever!!! :D

Interestingly, apparently Shirley Manson and the band really regretted making this music video, complaining they'd been effectively blackmailed by their record company into doing it despite believing just from looking at the storyboard that it was a really bad idea. Also, MTV Europe required some parts to be censored out- not the parts where Shirley performs an invisible striptease or pees standing up, but the parts where she's _stomping on lightbulbs._ No, I don't know either.

I thought the final result was good tho. I don't feel like it was out of character for the band, you have the tv's in Vow, the special effects in Special. Had it been more towards Katy Perry's California Gurls with Shirley shooting whipped cream out of cans placed over her breast all over cgi gummy bears and Butch Vig covered in spray tan to look like a black man (that's not a music video, that's racist) then I would have been like nah.
