very great song...great music, great words...great singer...Garbage are the best group of the world and Milk is one of the most beautiful song of this group and Shirley is simply perfect...
Whoever said this is the best Garbage video ever is right. It is not even my favorite song by her but is very artistic and awesomely shot. No one is sexier!!
Awesome Band. Awesome Song! Seen them live in concert 17 years ago in Atlanta, Georgia when this album first came out..WOW! What memories...Love you Shirley.
they couldnt have picked a better singer for their band. LOVE HER! they have their OWN sound and i dont care how many people try, they will never compare.
about love... for example: "i am weak, but i am strong, i can use my tears to bring u home..." meaning: i am weak because im crying, but i am also strong, because my tears can make u do things. like coming back home... u just have to listen to the words... theres allways a meaning in what she says, and no doubt she is hot! My fav band is Garbage, loved them since their first hit : "im only happy when it rains"!
Yeh, in 1996 my daughter gave me a cd for fathersday, "Renaissance Worldwide" Dave Seaman mix. On this album is a remix of this song, "Milk", (as well as the song "Twisted" by Skunk Anansie.) That was my intro into Garbage. I am still a massive fan today. Best fathersday present ever? I would say so.
One of the greatest songs of alternative rock. EVER. She just LIVES what she sings in a way you gotta feel what she feels. Astounding. Sexy. Coldly sharp, and desperate. It's fantastic.
I first heard this song when they used it on General Hospital. It was a dream sequence of a woman who was unconscious due to an explosion. It was really cool. So I looked up the song and saw that it was Milk by Garbage. I also love their song Happy When It Rains. The video for Milk is almost as cool as the dream sequence on GH!
To the comment below about her being skinny and still singing...yes she is still singing and has a solo album coming out, she is 41 years old now, and still looks/sings GREAT! She is also from Scotland (europe) where people are not usually large (fat) like americans. They have a different diet, and do not consume all the preservatives etc we do...thus skinny...just a beautiful singer/woman!
this song IS longing. When you are exhausted from waiting and waiting, you have no more energy-like you just evaporate, become milk- such a beautiful metaphor...
AUGUST 2005 baby!!! after regrouping for a minor time period they were here in Vacouver and WOW what an amazing back to back two show event that was!! Intimate event, people paying hundreds of dollars to scalpers....WHAT a shame split 'again' after finished the tour!!
I still have my Garbage music video tape from years back ... this has really held up. Quite artful and ethereal - I have to say it is my favorite out of all of their videos and one of my favorite Garbage songs. I love the atmosphere!
brings me back to my teenage years :) i used to listen to this song with headphones, on my walkman....going to sleep playing it over and over, and i still love this song
This is the best Garbage video I,ve ever seen.I love the way they fade in and out on the faces. Shirley is one totally hot scottish babe.Voice like an angel, mind of a devil.Song is great.
Garbage is one of the best pop rock band in the 90's to me. The guitarist is a master of arrangements, the singer has great inspiration, they have their own signature. It reminds me the past too, so my opinion isn't that objective, but never mind. 5* for this song.
Shirley says that this is the darkest, most hopeless of songs and that it's also a dichotomy, or a paradox. It's about loss, the fear of loss, and waiting for things that don't exist or that you can never have.
I consider this the finest example of the tone and quality of Shirley's voice. Oh I love it all, trust me, but this song really captured it, for me, just how good she is. The whole band is fantastic, I really cannot take anything away from the guys, either. Classic song that will be great forever.
This may sound rather strange, but this is a great theme song for those regions along the Atlantic coast that are long overdue for a major hurricane (70-100 yrs). ie: New York, New England, SE Georgia, NE Florida, Tampa, Houston, & the Keys
thank you garbage for creating such a delicate and understanding song as this is. I feel every note inside me. I'm waiting, and I'll always be waiting.... for you.
Amazing Amazing reminds me a James Bond Theme song !!! I just found the name of this song today and i can not stop listining after 4 years looking for the name and artist... God bless RU-vid !!!
this is just soooooo good, I just seen them live in Sydney, Australia and they were sooooo excellent, something i will never forget...thanks Garbage, you are brilliant:)
I've loved this song since it first came out, probably heard it a few dozen times since then, and still have NO FECKING IDEA what it's about. Awesome though.
And I totally agree.. But interestingly,I remember reading an "interview" with Shirley in the "Q" magazine back in 2000. No ways did she think she was anything to look at, nevermind believing herself that she was beautiful. She won't have it that she is actually stunning.
This song so much reminds me of the situation I am in now. I am hopelessly still in love with a man who didn't treat me right but is with someone else and possibly engaged. I am still in love with him and I still want him back and it is killing me inside
I heard Shirley is or was very insecure about her looks among other things. I don't know why....She's gorgeous and incredibly talented. She's one of the more beautiful women in music. Plus did everyone see her in the Termiator show a few years back? Gorgeous.
