This video shows the local trash service collecting the waste rubbish bin from each house. A combination of machinery and manual rubbish removal and garbage disposal is used. These big trucks are responsible for the waste management and trash removal from people’s houses and business premises.
The garbage collection trucks go around each neighborhood and empty the rubbish bins into the garbage truck. The truck consists of a driver and four garbage collection guys. The waste collection truck drives (with the rubbish collection guys holding on; two on the back and one on each side) until they come to some rubbish bins.
The big truck then stops and the guys jump off the back. They go and fetch the bins, bring them back to the garbage truck and attach them onto the machinery and equipment. They then use a lever to get the machine to lift the bin and tip it into the garbage truck.
This is a bit different to quite a few of the trash collection trucks around the world because normally there is just the driver who collects the bins himself. This video of international trucks is filmed in Cape Town, South Africa. It is a lot more manual with the guys jumping off the trucks and going to collect the bins themselves.
To keep up to speed with the garbage truck the guys have to work very quickly and you can often see them running. They often don’t have time to put the rubbish bins back on the pavement so they just slide them from the truck back to the side of the road.
Right at the end of the video you can see the guy on the left-hand side of the truck didn’t have time to put the bin back so he stood on the step on the side of the truck and as the truck drove away he held onto the bin and pulled it along with them. When he got to the right house he gently let the bin go and it slid back into place.
If the guys do manage to get all the garbage bins emptied and climb back on the truck before the driver starts driving, they will blow their whistles to let the driver know they are ready to move on. If you listen carefully you can sometimes hear this.
