My garbage truck broke my recycling bin.

This is because the material they use isn’t strong enough, unlike the 2000s or before, they were strong solid, but now the material used is plastic pallets, which isn’t durable against breakage, one mastec bin was gripped too much, because of the material. This happens a lot on hot days, been a garbo for twenty years, and if you don't grab the bin in the right spot, and "pinch" it with the ends of the grabbers, or on an angle, this can happen easily.

I searched for it and couldn't find it, but there is video footage of a garbage truck that ate a 240 litre bin, and it was in Australia. It was one of the paddle packer compactor bodies or similar. Bin was shown to have gradually disappeared into the hopper and was presumably crushed or snapped in pieces by the compactor. Those hydraulic pistons will always win, plastic garbage bins are no match for them. Even the reinforced lip of the bin will disintegrate, given enough time inside a compactor. I have personally witnessed the inside of a garbage truck hopper that ate the bin. Unfortunately I didn't have a camera at the time, and it was a long time ago when a new contractor was starting a service. The operator said the bin was very old and the clamp was a bit weak as they were still switching out old worn out clamping straps when they got the new contract. It looked like a typical paddle packer truck, and eventually the bin disappeared although the operator had to hit it heavily a couple of times with the shovel that is stowed on the truck.

Worst bins here are made by a company in England called mgb they are true shit the lip splits and they eventually end up in the hopper of the lorries

Those cans are pure crap. Not worth the thin, flimsy material they're made of. Our cans are so tough you can hardly damage them at all. I'm glad my city officials made the right choice. The first round of cans were very tough but if you bought a replacement you could easily tell they had cheapened them.
