You generally need four rows of sweetcorn minimum. Ya gotta have enough pollen floating around to get a decent amount of kernels on each ear. I've known farmers who planted sweetcorn in their fields with field corn specifically for this reason. Just make sure both varieties are dropping pollen at the same time. It also helps to put the sweetcorn near the edge of the field so it's easier to pick. Goodluck, feller.

@@Thomas120952 I generally don't notice the difference in taste on the sweetcorn. Definitely wouldn't want to try and replant these hybrids though. Evan love your program. I think,I mentioned previously I actually invented this material some 40 years ago in Europe. Working with growers in Holland we found the best wat to prepares for planting was use a 4ft steel rod with a cross shaped metal welded to it. The arms of the cross about 4 inches. Using you gas heater heat the end and then you can just walk and cut the cross shape say every 3 feet. The steel retains the heat for some time. You only need to be above 320F TO MELT THE FABRIC Fold back the pieces plant your produce then fold back the fabric so will lessen chance of weeds growing around the new plant. The other advantage of doing this way is you are not kneeling down but just go at walking height and pace To cut a wide role just take a hacksaw blade heat it up then it will cut thru the fabric like a hot knife thru butter with no fraying and much quicker. Hope this helps

I liked your cucumber trellis design. Nice job with the fabric and cutting the holes. I like to put a little fertilizer in the bottom of the holes prior to planting and cover it first.. Suggestion: At the end of the season, cut off all the plants and vines from the fabric. Use a leaf blower to blow off the dirty fabric, fold the fabric in half and lay it on top of each other. Roll up the whole role of fabric and store it in the barn for next year. I know you were going to do that but I thought I would tell you anyway. :-)

For cutting the holes, I'd almost be tempted to make a hot-punch out of a piece of black iron pipe or something else with fairly heavy walls and a lot of thermal mass. Slap a handle or something on it, then just use the torch to heat it up. Being able to use the torch at full honk would probably make the heat-up darn fast compared to using the torch tip, and the large thermal mass should mean you can cut several in quick succession before it cools down too much.
