Beautiful mater's, canning that will taste so good come winter. Love the mustard seed . A thought i need to do . Thanks so much FFF. GOD'S BLESSINGS. have a great weekend love to the girls. ❤🙏💯🌟
Thank you. I plant a "Winter" garden. Mustard, kale and spinach in rows. Then broadcast turnips all over the garden. My grandmother would beat the seeds, all kinds onto an old sheet, gather up the corners and take them in to be put in jars for the next planting. God Bless and stay safe.
Beautiful tomatoes!! Looks like you will be canning a lot of them. I take mine off before they are totally ripe, to save them from the bugs, worms, and squirrels. Love your fun facts.
Thank you for the tip on sowing mustard greens. I bought a bag to plant some this year so I can try them out. I got some awesome Brandywine tomatoes before the heat came in. Now that the heat isn’t so bad I’m hoping for some more before the season ends. Your garden is doing great.
We have had 4 days over 100 and wind. It is finally cooling down a bit, but it has been hard on the garden. We are just goin to make the best of it and keep going. Loved the tour. Thank you.😊
Question - Where do you get your garden seeds? Do you buy them from somewhere or do you save seed from each year for the next year? I love your videos. I love to see the old and simple ways being preserved and shown.
Howdy David, I saved some of my seeds from year to year and some I buy. It just depends on what it is. I am glad that you enjoy and thank you for watching!
My grandaddy planted by the signs. I try to, but not always able to get it right. Interesting about the mustard seeds. I will try this. Thanks for sharing.
Anxious to listen to your Moon Signs video! I make all my juice and sauce from Romas. They are plentiful this year. Yours look fantastic! I make the sundried tomatoes in olive oil from the San Marzano. Yum!Yum! I LOVE those Big Pink tomatoes you have there. Deee-lish! I use a little flashlight with a black light bulb at night to find those stinking Hornworms. Those Hornworm hurt my feelings. Hahah
Howdy Justro- you had tomatoes last year and we didn’t have any at all. But this year our garden has done really well. We had a bad drought last year that lasted for three months and nobody around here did any good. Yep, it’s time to get some greens in the ground. Can’t get enough of em. Hope y’all have a great weekend. God bless y’all
Howdy brother, it has been a prolific year for a lot of folks. I can’t get enough of them either, I can eat them every day. Thanks and hope that you all do as well! God bless you my friend
Mater heaven you got there my friend. Our maters done ok this year but we’ve fought the worms & bugs all the way. Thanks for sharing this fun fact Friday. Enjoyed watching & listening to ya. 👍🏻👍🏻
Garden looking good. Here in eastern NC. It's been in the upper 90's and dry. Been having to water. My garden is winding down. Maters did very good this year.
Loved the tour, must’ve definitely been a good tomato year! Mountain pride our some of our favorites for canning, seem to do good here. Your peppers are looking good to! My favorite is cowboy candy I mix the banana and jalapeños instead of all jalapeños, talk about some good eating on pintos!
Looks good! For the worms I spray them with BT. Must repeat after it rains. I prune my tomatoes by clipping excess leaves. I leave the suckers because that’s the growing tips that put on flowers for fruit. But big leaves get taken out.
I just watched your video with all the beautiful tomatoes. It made me hungry so I fixed me a sandwich with a big slice of Cherokee Purple. It’s such a good tasting tomato. You’re going to be busy canning all those tomatoes. I didn’t know mustard seeds were in those pods. A good fact to learn. Have a wonderful weekend.😊
Tell me, how do you keep the deer from eating the tomatoes or anything else for that matter? The deer here, have eaten everything until I covered it with nettling. It sure is a productive garden, love the tomatoes!
They have been a problem at times but are not bad right now thankfully. I have tried a few different things but they always get used to them. I think a fence is the only way. Thank you!
Looking good buddy! Let me tell you our tomatoes have done amazing this year like yours but were extremely slow to start. But for the most part our garden done the best we’ve had in a while considering this weird weather
Mercy. I got caught in "Peppergate" this year. My family loves the Italian sweet Marconi peppers and that was the seeds I planted... Supposedly! Hahahah. I've got 3 Marconi pepper plants and the other 9 plants are all different kinds, some of which I can't identify. It's a Pepper Surprise down here in the Sandhills.
I have to agree with you on the Cherokee purple maters them and a Mr stripy is my favorite. There was a old mater farmer over here in Jackson county that used Clorox to treat the blit on his maters
@@metcalfmills5679 No there was not one seed come up to start with. Then the second time we planted some came up but didn’t last to long they just died.
I wish my garden was so prolific. Maybe watching you will give me some sort of green thumb by association or something. Maybe I should play this video to my plants out in my garden so they can see what they could be if they tried a bit harder.
@@metcalfmills5679 well, I live in australia so it’s still winter here. I will start planting in a month or so. But I’ve never had much luck in the past. I’ll keep manure tea up my sleeve for them. But in the meantime, I’ll give my seeds a pep talk every few days in preparation.
Gotta say them some tasty pickles!! Time to clean up to reduce pest and disease, seems like we can’t ever get enough hours! Garden picking and cleaning up in evening and canning all night . Keeper going and finish season strong! Appreciate the videos
Howdy Stephan, glad you like the pickles! That is for sure, not enough hours in the day. Thank you for watching and I’m glad to hear that you enjoy. Take care, brother!
Reminds me of garden walking with my mama. She could grow anything! Her garden was just a plot of land in the backyard, but it produced delicious food for us!
What a gorgeous crop of tomatoes (and your whole garden too, especially your mother and the mustard green seeds. And oh my gosh, those butterflies.🦋) Cherokee P’s are my absolute favorite. Better Boys are great too, but they’re a hybrid. Are the Big Pinks a Brandywine or a Beefsteak? The reason I love Better Boys almost as good as Cherokees is because they’re so juicy and very acidic.❤️🍅
@@metcalfmills5679 I had a problem with dark gray, almost black worms, they would eat holes all in the leaves and as they got bigger would eat holes in the tomato. Guy from Clemson was here looking at a tomato variety and he said they were army worms, they didn't used to bother tomatoes but are now on the menu, that doesn't mean yours are army worms but they do look like cut worms and corn worms. Either way, get yourself a bt concentrate and a sprayer, non toxic and spraying about every 10 days will kill all worms, including those cabbage loopers.
