Hello, Bull, I enjoyed the tour of the food forest. Food everywhere. And I love it.❤❤ You and your family and the church and everybody would never go hungry. Over there in the food forest.🎉😍
Hi Bull. I enjoyed the tour of your garden. I harveste a bunch of mustard, cleaned it, cut it, blanched it and froze it. It is my second harest from it. In a couple days, the Swiss Chard will be ready to harvest. My potatoes are starting to flower, a sign they will be ready to dig up soon. I am looking at June 1st as a harvest date. I have pepper, tomatoes, summer squash, and cantaloup that are flowering and setting fruit. The ggarlic should be ready to harvest in about thre weeks. All of my fruit trees are sprouting with new growth. I have two peach trees coming from Pernsylvania, so the orchard is expanding. All my replacement determinent tomato seeds have germinated, Black Krim, Ace-55, and Martino's Roma. I have Red Beard bunching onioopns growing as companion plants for my tomatoes. The other day, I took a trip into town to Home Depot to get a bag of potting mix, and a few flower seeds. They had reduced the prices of herbs, tomato, and pepper polants to $2.00. I took advantage of it, purchased and pruchasd a mixed tray of peppers, basil, dill, rosmary, and one tomato plant to replace the Ace-55 I lost. Oh, and I took the tray along with the plants. It will come in handy next year. I've started working on my garden plans for this fall. I'll be replacing my potatoes with turnips, and the squash with cauliflower and broccolli. I want to squeeze in cabbage and carrots too. Yellow Heart Winter Choy, Boc Choy, and garlic are on the list too. I'll probably keep the chard growing all summer and winter. I have to dig out and move two raised beds this summer before I can finalize my plans. I already have seeds on hane, or coming in the mail. The six additional raised beds are giving me a lot more space to plant in, so it is going to be a big fall garden this year. I can't believe that I am going to get three, four, maybe five harvests of mustard before the summer heart causes it to bolt.
I like your organization to your plantings, I’m having a big problem with too many rolly pollies in some of my garden beds causing damage to my seedlings. Do you grow beets, i don’t remember you ever mention them. My broccoli really grew well this season and we been enjoying them with dinner on several occasions. Them mustards really served you well this season
@@TheBullsGarden Golden Detroit Beets did well for me last year. This year was a flop. I might try again in the fall. My mother grows broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage in her winter/spring garden, so I don't. In the fall, I plan on growing broccoli, cauliflower, and maybe cabbage. I'll start seeds for them in the middle of August, just after peak summer heat.Rolly Pollies are attracted to moisture and rotting vegitation (Mulch) Two things you can try are diatomaceous earth to keep them from your plants, and clearing out the mulch. Get rid of the food and moisture, and the bugs will go. Other than that, I can't think of an organic solution. You can try Captain Jack's Dead Bug, basically Spinosad. It might work, but it isn't specifically designed for them.
Everything looks real healthy! I didn't know you could plant tomatoes in smaller pots. That's great news for me because I'm running out of space! Thanks for sharing.
Rhubarb you got to work with. My Mom used to make Rhubarb pie, not too often, got to use a lot of sugar and its a bit runny. Not like a slice of sweet potato that you can slice and go. Rhubarb pie is a plate and spoon pie. Leaves look so good. Like the wire around the grouped pots may be good for my black berries and my beans and peas. Just getting growing weather here in NJ.
Enjoyed the music. Your garden is so fruitful. Everything looks really great. I just put in a grapevine this year. Looking forward to grapes. What do you have on your garden floor? Is that straw? Thanks for sharing when potatoes are ready for harvest. How often do you fertilize your tomatoes? And what do you use? Nice tip on suckers to make more tomato plants. What a fantastic tour!!!
I’m glad you put in that grapevine, once established you’ll be enjoying those grapes. That’s just blades from my glass plants that were cut back, however my garden is totally covered with woodchips, I get truck loads to keep my soil covered. I fertilize my tomatoes weekly with fish emulsion and they’re also side dressed with 10-10-10, which I love using on all my plants
Wonderful garden tour. Everything looks great and no you don't have the plum Curculio problem because they're all over here in my yard🤨. What did you spray your fruit trees with? Thanks for sharing 🤗
bull are you saying that somebody needs to make you a rhubarb pie??? its good stuff but its super tart you gotta add sugar to it to really make the best of it.
@TheBullsGarden yes its tasty its usually made with strawberries. So you already growing the most expensive of the ingredients. It's not hard to make either not a ton of ingredients
