Good question. The barrels are black to avoid UV breakdown and protect the soil inside. So very little can leach out and would take a very longtime. Also this is much better plastic than most planters we buy in stores. Keeping your soul acidity down is also good. Hope this helps. Also let’s consider we have so much pesticides in the atmosphere already and raining down on us all the time it could be considered that is a greater health risk.
