I agree with your garden idea. My little garden is covered with hay, no weeds, great way to maintain a neat garden. I don't have a tiller, am not physically able to do a lot due to arthritis and this is so wonderful. I love your video. Thank you!!!
Wow... just found your channel last night and am blown away by how you manage it.... it is just gorgeous! I watched you July 2017 one also. Lovely, Lovely Garden!! That's why I'm watching your "how to" videos this morning. The guy from "Edible Acres" agrees with hay over straw also. So many opinions & critiquing (arguing) about things on youtube but my common sense tells me that results are what matters. Your results are incredible. Thank you for teaching & showing!
I wanted to use hay but some gardener said it may have greysom in it and vegetables won't grow with it , saying it's not good to use? Your thought?? Thank you
Excellent points about pesticides leaching into your drinking water and this is a cheap alternative. In addition to weed suppression, I find that I get greater yields since switching to hay.
My garden at work has plants in the raised beds and a host of weeds. Can I just lay down hay to smother out the weeds or should I weed first then lay the straw?
Thank you! I recently acquired 6 hay bails for free. I have a small embankment in my back yard that I need to stop weed growth. I remember seeing this method when I was a kid so when a friend was giving them away, I jumped on it. Through a google search for information, I found you and have subscribed. We are in winter months in Nebraska so I’ll be planting in spring. We have a few days of 50 plus degrees prior to Christmas so I’m taking advantage of it. Thanks again. Looking forward to being educated throughout the year 😊👍🏻
@@oneloveyessah around this time (at least in Canada) is the best time to buy it from the farmers. Sometimes water gets into it and no longer useable for animals so they just want to clear it out for the upcoming crop. It's perfect for mulch though!
