Pattern Description
Seamless or pieced pullover in two lengths with small cables and rib details, modified raglan sleeves and a split hem.
I knit the first sample in pieces - because I wanted to. It was much easier to get my head around the construction, the placement of the cable and rib details, the raglans and shoulder dart shaping while working one piece at a time. Plus I love having a resting WS row, not wondering whether or not I’m on a cable row.
Knowing many knitters prefer to knit in the round, I knit the second sample (the beige/grey one) circularly, without seams.
You can choose between these two constructions, as well as two body lengths and two neck heights.
Note: The front and back are identical. There are no short rows. The placement of the decreases shapes the neck into a gentle curve. and the raglan sleeve caps add depth to the neck.
Sizes 1 (2-3-4-5) (6-7-8-9)
Model is 5’7” and is wearing size 4 with 10” (25 cm) of ease.
The rust sample - long length with high collar.
The grey sample - short length with crew collar.
Finished Chest 36 (40-44-48-52)(56-60-64-68)”; 92(102-112-122-132)(142-152-162-172) cm

Hi Norah, I'm a huge fan of your designs as well. It's so nice to see a tutorial from you. Your cast on appears almost like a tubular cast on but looks easier to execute. I will definitely be giving it a try. I hope to see more videos from you in the future.

I agree with you completely about knitting bottom up when you have pattern stitches - it's much easier to set up your pattern before increasing or decreasing. Also love the alternate cable cast-on.

Hi Norah, lovely podcast! I just finished a jumper for my daughter and I used the cast on you showed on your episode. I cast on in 2x2 rib. Cast on two knitwise and two purlwise. No need for juggling needles.

Such lovely details! It's really helpful to have a designer point them out because often when we just see a picture of a sweater, we don't necessarily see all the interesting bits! I wonder if the front 1x1 rib panel could be converted to the 1x1 twisted stitch panel without reducing the circumference too much - my regular 1x1 rib never seems to be tidy enough so I always opt for 2x2 or garter stitch for ribbing. Especially if knitting in the round, one could always twist the knit stitch and purl the normal way. Do you think this may work? Thanks!
@NorahGaughan
@NorahGaughan 7 дней назад
I think you could twist the knits , but not the purls (if working in the round) without any gauge problems. Give it a try in a swatch.

For a man, make sure the sleeve is large enough in the chest size you choose. You can see that on the schematic. Also, the sleeve will need to be at least 3" longer and should be tapered to suit a man's taste.

Ok. I can never understand how I get hold of a pattern in RU-vid. I have gone to the description page and there are several lines about Ravelry. Do I go there? Is there a link? Thank you
