I believe this marked the final time Lorenzo Music voiced Garfield before his death. I could be wrong though.

Yes. You are wrong. He voiced Garfield for the last time in a car commercial that aired in 2001/2002. He recorded his lines before his death. All that was needed to be animated in the commercial.
